Title: Spider-man 2 (spoilers?)
Description: So. Awesome.
Dereck - June 30, 2004 05:37 PM (GMT)
IF YOU'VE YET TO SEE SPIDER-MAN 2, DO NOT READ THIS THREAD. THERE ARE SPOILERS.
Okay, so I went to the first showing of Spider-Man 2 at the Warren, 12 AM, and it was packed! Luckily I got some really good seats.
It was awesome, EVERYBODY was hyped, they started cheering when the previews started, when the previews ended, when the beginning credits started, and when those ended.
Anyways, I could sit here and write a full summary of the movie, but I'll spare you.
But did any of you guys see the first showing? I did and it was worth it =X
Its DEFINATELY better than the first in my opinion.
Ad-Man - June 30, 2004 09:45 PM (GMT)
I bought Spidey 2 for the cube tuesday, beat it this morning, and just got home from the movie. It ruled.
I'd say more, but I have to go pick a pizza.
*swings to get the pizza*
Seriously though, I"m going to pick up a pizza.

I think everyone must know by now that I went to see the first showing of Spider-Man 2 in my area. I got there, like...4 hours before the movie actually started.
Good thing, too, 'cuz there were LIIIIIIIIIIIIINES like you wouldn't believe, brutha...
Yes, it was cool. I think Doc Ock was somewhat of a better villian than Green Goblin in the first. Then again...
Four mechanical tentacles & trenchcoat > Power Rangerish green metal suit.
Dereck - July 1, 2004 04:57 AM (GMT)
Hah, agreed.
I also like that they put the whole Norman/Harry issue in. I didnt think they would pull that in till the next movie.
I espcially like how the Green Goblin layer was behind the mirror =O
Not to mention, Harry was a MUCH better Green Goblin than Norman, cant wait to see how Raimi pulls that off.
Very awesome show, TONS better than Spider-Man 1 =X
EDIT:
And when he went to the doctor to see if he was "okay", was that just me or did he say "Dr. Conners" *AKA Lizard Man*?
Urutapu - July 1, 2004 05:10 AM (GMT)
Well, MTV has a continuation series of the Spider-Man movies. Doc Conners is Peter's Chem teahcer...and, at one point, he injects himself with iguana DNA and becomes Lizard Man. >.>
Dereck - July 1, 2004 05:12 AM (GMT)
Yeah, thats the classic Dr. Conners story, I was just wondering if they did put that Dr. Conners reference in the movie =X
Urutapu - July 1, 2004 05:13 AM (GMT)
Very likely, I've been having deja vu with the MTV series and the movie sequel. They take place at almost the same time.
Hyper - July 1, 2004 05:42 AM (GMT)
Did the ending make it obvious there's gonna be a sequel like the ending from the first Spider-Man movie did?
Anyway, what I really wanna know is... WHEN IS THERE GONNA BE A MOVIE WITH VENOM IN IT? C'mon.. you can't have Spider-Man without Venom.
And... Did anyone see Mr. O.M.A. at the movie theatres and take his picture to post all over the internet?
Urutapu - July 1, 2004 05:44 AM (GMT)
I was about to ask that :|
Mr. O.M.A - July 1, 2004 05:53 PM (GMT)
And when he went to the doctor to see if he was "okay", was that just me or did he say "Dr. Conners" *AKA Lizard Man*?
Yep. Doc Conners is The Lizard. I don't know if the show ties in to the movie seeing how in the show, Lizard went splat in the middle of the street (and run over 2 seconds afterwards, I might add), yet in Spider-Man 2, Conners is a-ok.
I also like that they put the whole Norman/Harry issue in. I didnt think they would pull that in till the next movie.

I was suprised when William DeFoe (Norman Osborn) showed up in that sequence. I read in several places that they managed to get the entire cast of the original EXCEPT William...you know...'cuz his character kinda sorta died and all...
I dunno if we're gonna see a Harry Goblin come Spider-Man 3, though. I heard Sam Raimi doesn't want to reuse villians. Norman or Harry, it'd STILL be the Green Goblin.
Did the ending make it obvious there's gonna be a sequel like the ending from the first Spider-Man movie did?
Everyone's already signed up for Spider-Man 3, though I'm not sure if Tobey Maguire'll stick around. Which sucks 'cuz he kinda made a pretty good Peter Parker/Spider-Man...
Anyway, what I really wanna know is... WHEN IS THERE GONNA BE A MOVIE WITH VENOM IN IT? C'mon.. you can't have Spider-Man without Venom.
As much as I'd love to see the Venomous One, I got a feeling we won't for a LOOOOONG time. Not only does the story have to catch up to Venom, but Sam Raimi, I read, likes to work with the 'tragic' villains, like Doc Ock in this one. Venom's just plain nuts.
And... Did anyone see Mr. O.M.A. at the movie theatres and take his picture to post all over the internet?
Nope. My identity remails a secret...unlike (and ironically humorous) a certain Spider-Man's who got revealed to a trainload of people, the girl next door, the psychotic best friend, and one man-octopus.
Hyper - July 1, 2004 06:15 PM (GMT)
Doesn't everyone find out who Spider-Man is eventually?
Except for like, the X-men, cuz I remember the X-men don't like Spider-Man.

*hums 'Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head'*
The hospital scene was the best scene in the whole movie. Holy crap, it was SO Raimi I couldn't believe it. Haven't seen something like that since Evil Dead 2.

Actually I considered that the worst part of the movie. I don't know if I'm allowed to say anything other than spoilers in this thread. So I'm not gonna say why I think that part stunk.

Personally I doubt Raimi would use the MTV story line to go with his movie series. Its kind of like Lucas working off the books to make the Prequels (which he DOESNt, he hates the books)
And I kind of thought that Harry was a completely different Green Goblin. Sure he wore the same costume, took the same potion and stuff, but he had a completely different style. I loved the way he's (or may be?) reluctant to be the Green Goblin, and the visions of his dad constantly bug him to do what he "should". =X
So putting that together, I think that the next one will have Lizard-Man, seeing as Doc Conners was introduced and he figured out he was Spider-Man =P And also the Harry Green Goblin, it left it to where you almost knew what was going to happen. Then again, Raimi is good at twisting things around *Shrugs*

I just saw spiderman today and it was freaking awesome i loved everything about that movie. :)

No he didn't. Dr. Connors is Peter Parker's Chem professor. All he knows is that Peter is 'brilliant, but lazy'. Don't expect the Lizard for another couple movies at least.
Personally, I say they go with Harry Goblin in 3. He'll show up as Spider-Man takes on one of the lower-tier villians in the very beginning, like Rhino or Shocker.

Well on that first one, unless I'm mistaken, Harry doesn't become the green goblin, he becomes the HOB Goblin.... At least I think that's what he was.... I think he started as the Green one for a while, then became the Hobgoblin....
Number two, I hope they keep Tobey.... I heard him talking on a interview how he got kind of exahusted from doing like, 4 hour work out's by playing spiderman.
As for the third, yeah. I wanna see Venom as well, even maybe a peek of what his costume would look like on the big screen. *Sigh* Ah well, maybe in like five years from now. (Considering the rate of how movies like that take.) >_O
But yeah, just got back from seeing it. Twas awesome.
Dereck - July 3, 2004 10:38 PM (GMT)
Im pretty sure Harry does become the Green Goblin, I always thought the Hobgoblin was first. I remember a comment the Hobgoblin making about being "the original Goblin" and Norman being a "wannabe". But that mightve been in the cartoons =X
About Tobey, apparently he got a really bad injury during Seabiscuit and wasnt even going to do Spider-Man 2, but he said the stunts were much easer in Spider-Man 2 'cause they got better harnesses and stuff. So he'll probably stick around, its only a flesh wound, itll heal right? =P
And Venom, yeah, probably wont be coming soon.
Then again, if Raimi goes the cartoon series way, he might be in the next movie. I doubt it though. See, in the cartoon Venom was introduced from JJJ's son. His son went up on a mission to blow up a meteroid (Armageddon style), and picked up a few rock samples. One of the "rocks" was Venom. It caused the shuttle to crash land on that one bridge (cant remember the name) and when Spider-Man went to rescue the astronauts the "rock" merged with him.
So when he woke up, he was like "Whoa, the crap is my suit black!?"
EDIT:
Apparently the Hobgoblin WAS after GG, but...
"The Hobgoblin came into being when Roderick Kingsley discovered an abandoned secret lair of the supervillain known as the Green Goblin The Green Goblin is a Marvel Comics supervillain who is the greatest enemy of Spider-Man."

This may seem a bit off- topic, but whered ya hear that? (I'm not confirming or denying what you said, just asking for the source).
I saw spider-man 2 the Friday it came out, wonderful, way better than the first, i just hope they keep on getting better.
I liked doc ock personally, i hope he ain't dead (but the facts say he is, *crying like baby "no he can't be dead! NO NO NO!!!).
i think they're gonna do Dr. Conners/The Scorpion, and Harry in the third one, but that's just my guess.
AMAZING MOVIE!! :ego:  ^_^ B) :naughty: :D =P .
Lesbian StrikerS Lover - July 15, 2004 09:00 PM (GMT)
I saw it Saturday, I thought it was great! Doc Ock made me like it more than the first. I believe this is the film Raimi wanted to create for Spider-man 1, but had to do an intro movie.
For Spider-man 3, I would believe any villian that can mess up Peter's life would be good. Think about it, right now his life is perfect. He basically has everything he wants. Someone like the Chameleon (him and Venom are the only ones off hand I can think that can ruin Peter's life) comes in one day and swoops his perfect world away. Thus, in the final battle, it's more of him trying to redeem himself. Blah, I went on and on at this with my Dad.
Lothar Hex - July 15, 2004 09:20 PM (GMT)
The thing about the whole Harry Goblin thing. In the comics, the Green Goblin came first. The Hobgoblin came after he found some of the Green Goblin's gear and started robbing stuff. The after Norman died Harry found some Goblin Gear and became the second Green Goblin. In the 90's cartoon they had the Hobgolbin come first to work in with the whole Norman/Kingpin storyline.
If they do a movie with Harry becoming a viallian they'd probably make him the Green Goblin, carrying on his father's legacy.
Personally for the third movie I think The Lizard would make a nice 3rd Villian. Again fit's in with the whole tragic villian thing, as in the comic's and cartoon he was:
A) Trying to grow his arm back.
B) Trying to cure other people with the same technique.
And for his trouble's he turn's into a giant bone crushing lizard who want's to turn the entire world into his kind. Little bit more far fetched than the other guy's but I think it would be cool to see.

I saw Spider-Man 2, and it was an awesome movie. Better than the first in my opinion.
Lothar Hex - July 18, 2004 03:54 PM (GMT)
Well I finally saw the movie today, and my thought are that it was fricking brilliant. I'll be posting more thought on it on my LJ later.
