Title: Sam's sci-fi RPG selections:
Description: Which sounds most appealing to you

Samuel La Croix - October 3, 2009 09:36 PM (GMT)
Eclipse Phase: A transhumanist delight- the game is set in a solar system where earth has gone post-apocalyptic thanks to our own hubris in creating a super-AI called TITAN. That, plus the hostile alien and/or eldritch beings hiding behind the 'Pandora Gates' discovered popping up from TITAN's own creation. Humanity itself has advanced past its mortal coil- A being is defined only by its Ego and mind. A body is transient, and the mind is kept up to date, to the second, via 'cortical stacks', and you can even copy your mind via insurance however often you like. In essence, limited immortality. Of course, people can still die, if their stacks can't be retrieved... and if they go insane (an increasingly likely event for people out crashing the pandora gates) there's really no cure.

Paranoia: You must have atleast RED clearance to read this. Paranoia is a semi-comedic game set in Alpha Complex. You are a TROUBLESHOOTER. You FIND TROUBLE and SHOOT IT. Report to friend computer your successes in dealing with the commie mutant traitors trying to befoul the friendly, happy atmosphere of Alpha complex, and climb up the ladder of success! Otherwise, report to a suicide booth for summary execution. Happiness is mandatory. Friend computer is our lord and close friend. Never think of betraying friend computer. Always smile.

Shadowrun:It is the seventh world. Reality is augmented by human (and nonhuman) will. Advertisements are inescapable thanks to implants and commlinks. When you're always connected to everything- everything is connected to you. You are a shadowrunner. Some way or the other, you lack an ID. You are an expendable resource for many of the corporations, and your services are always in high demand. You can be anything from a mostly-metal swordsman to a savvy sniper, to someone who operates his missions entirely on remote controlled robots: Just watch out for the feds, and always cover your tracks. Also, elves and dorfs and magic and shit.

Star Wars: Saga edition: Do I really have to say more? Set in the world from Star Wars, you can act out crafted missions and worlds of any variety in the unique setting of Star wars. Be a jedi knight and ferret out corruption of order through the universe, or a daring scoundrel making a buck however he can. Play in the rebellion era for a locked-down feel, or in the KOTOR era when the jedi knights are just beginning to fall apart, and the revanchist motion is still in full swing.
