So let me just say this my friends... I'm a seasoned RO Player(not very proud of this fact, however I must say I still appreciate the old days where I had fun in PvP.)
I've tried a multitude of other MMORPG's, and out of ALL of them... DDO is probably the best I've ever played. It surpasses even the expectations of WoW, in my opinion.
Quite possibly the reasons that WoW is more popular? Well. Alliance vs Horde. Invisible Wall breaking. People were too busy playing WoW to even notice DDO existed.
What makes this game so great? Is that it's more than just endless dungeon crawling and fighting a few strong or weak monsters here and there. You solve puzzles. In my latest actions I've been interacting with NPC's more than I had in the beginning of the game, actually discovering "wars" going on in cities and choosing a side. Needless to say, they put a lot of effort in to this game. The only turn off right now? Is that they fail to give you all of the content unless you pay.
Now... Obviously this is somewhat reasonable. But it honestly makes you feel like you're losing out on some of the experience, even if it is just one or two quests in an area that you can't access. It's impossible to know what's behind those inaccessible gateways unless you perhaps ask a subscriber.(Which btw? Good luck with. The people are friendly, but obviously the game is infested with some really ignorant people asking questions such as "how i shut off hlemet??"
All in all? This is a fucking GREAT game to play with your Nigs. Absolutely drags you in to the world of DnD in the Eberron edition. Save for a few personal discrepancies(which can be washed away quite easily to be honest)? I absolutely suggest this game to everyone on TFS who either likes DnD, Dungeon Crawling games, interacting with friends, or just likes to see how powerful they can get. :D Personally I'm all of the above, so. >_>
