I should explain the rules!
Okay, first off. This is a meeple.

A player has 7.

The game goes in turns, from one player to the next. Each player draws 1 tile and sets it down next to the starting piece.
Now, by themselves the tiles are nearly useless. To actually gain points from them you need to put a meeple on them.
In the basic game of Carcassonne, there are 3 primary kinds of tiles that you can wring points out of.
Roads.

--- Are worth 1 point per tile, to complete it you need to have both ends of it ended on either a city or some breaking point like that.
Cities.

--- Are worth 2 points per tile, to complete it you need to have walls on every side.
However, those shields that appear occassionally,

--- Count as an extra city tile
And Monasteries.

--- Are worth 9 points, to complete them you have to surround the 8 tiles around them.
And, you cannot put two meeples directly connected to each other, tile-to-tile. Or else cities would get
really cluttered.
