Description: so anyone can play.

MYKE - February 7, 2009 05:15 AM (GMT)
The old vs the new
The year is 100 M42, the mighty Tau empire continues to spread its dominance from world to world at a alarming rate. During a fast campaign east from their sphere of influence, the tau conquered the planet of Mon'kun, a planet rich with valuable minerals.
In a matter of years the tau successfully colonize the planet and begin to mine its resources, as hundreds of giant drills begin to pierce the planets surface, the unaware Earth caste drill right into a Necron tomb, awakening the undead horrors within. The Necrons begin to march out of a large cave, quickly slaughtering all miners in the area, but not fast enough to stop one from sending out a distress signal.
The Ethereal is quick to act and send on of their new and brightest commanders to handle this new threat. Can the Tau destroy the Necron threat? Or be swept away in a sea of death and despair.
Tau briefing
--
Greetings, honorable Shas'o. If I am correct this is the first time you are commanding a force alone? But if the Ethereal trusts you, then so shall I. These “Necrons” as the other races like to call them, are emerging from underground at a alarming rate. We have never encountered this threat before, but that does not mean we cannot win. Engage Necron forces outside of the caves, when successful, advance underground and find the source of these abominations, and eliminate this threat.
Necron briefing
--
Awaken, My kin. Awaken and destroy the flesh of the living. This young and insolent race has intruded on our tomb world, and I, the powerful Night Bringer, have chosen you to exact death upon my new enemy. Awaken your brothers, and march from your crypts to destroy these “Tau.”. Let none escape, leave none alive.

Mission one: prologue (This mission is a prologue mission and is the exact same for both sides.)
Mission type: Annihilate
Tau objective: The Mon'kun 32nd Fire caste led by the new and inspiring Shas'o, must engage all Necron forces outside of the crypt, you must not let the Necrons gain a foothold in this war, destroy the aggressors and then prepare to mount a invasion of the underworld, battle the Necron forces until you have reached their tombs, and then destroy the source.

Necron objective: The Tomb world of Mon'Kun has been disturbed, Emerge from your caves and destroy this new intruder. The mission is simple. Kill them all and gain a foothold to advance into their towns and cities, until none are alive.
Tau Missions
If the tau see victory in the first battle, then the campaign will go down the Tau mission branch, each army has 5 missions in total.

Mission 1: ground war.
Tau and necrons: 1500 pts
Tau objective: After the victory on the surface, the Shas'O orders his fire caste to advance into the large caves. Remnants of the last battle are still spread throughout the entrance and it is the Fire caste's job to eliminate them to press onward deeper into the tomb.

Necron objective: After the crushing defeat on the surface, the Remnants of the first attack must not allow the living to successfully penetrate the tomb any deeper. Eliminate all Tau forces inside the cave.

Special rules: The Tau warriors, as disciplined as they are, are not use to fighting the Necrons. Murmurs of fear and uncertainty spreads across the ranks as the cave gets darker and their flashlights can barley illuminate their surroundings. Any unit that is within assault distance of any Necron unit, they must take a morale test to see if they stand and fight or retreat in panic.

If victorious: The Mon'kun 32nd fire caste begin to to have higher hopes against the necron forces, and the fear test is lifted, the Shas'O may also choose a extra 200 points next mission.

If defeated: The 32nd fire Caste flees in panic, many being cut off and slaughtered.

Necron Objective: The living have dug too low into the our tomb. We must intercept their advance. It appears that they wish to capture the pariah, leading this force. Defend him at all cost, do not let him be captured, be sure to destroy all tau forces to ensure that they do not discover more successful ways of destroying our brethren.

Special rule: The Necron army must deploy with AT LEAST one Pariah unit to repersent the captain.

If victorious: Another Necron army is crushed beneath the 32nd's triumphant advance. The earth caste has discovered a loop hole in Necron wiring that if damaged, burns the Necron away from the inside. From now on all hits that land in a shooting phase gain a extra +2 damage.

They come across a rather large cavern, large enough to host a entire base of operations. The Tau must advance into the middle of the cavern and hold it for exactly 2 turns.

Necron objective: the living are getting dangerously close to the tomb. In a large cavern it is perfect to encircle the enemy and kill them all. Defend the middle until all Tau forces are destroyed.

Tau: 2000 Pts
Necrons: 1700 Pts
mission type: annihilate
Tau objective: As the Fire caste marches onward they finally reach their destination, the Necron tomb. The cave turns from total darkness, to a bright green as the entire crypt becomes alive, preparing to attack their new enemy. Now battle hardened and experienced, the Shas'O orders his Warriors forward, to pierce the Necron lines and attack the heart of the enemy.

Necron objective: This is the battle to decide the fate of the Mon'Kun tomb. It is necessary that the Necrons defeat the Tau here, if they fail, then the entire tomb is in danger.

If victorious: The Shas'O lets out a mighty battle cry and charges forward, his entire army following him to the death, Tau forces will never have to take morale tests in mission 5.

The battle for Mon'Kun would lead to the conquest, of over a thousand worlds to come.

If defeated: The Shas'O tries desperately to rise to his feet, before being impaled onto the scythe of the mighty C'tan, the Night bringer.
