Title: Issue with Portal

Just bought Portal thanks to the Steam sale, but. While playing Portal, the FPS is around 40-50 FPS. But as soon as a portal even hints at being on screen, it dips down to 5 FPS. I'm not exactly sure why, but it's only while there's a portal on screen.

HP Pavillion dv6919ca
AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-60 2.0 GHz
3 GB RAM
Vista Home Premium SP 1
DirectX 10 (allegedly)
NVIDIA GeForce 7150M/ nForce 630M (says it comes with 1071 MB memory, but with the BIOS I lowered it to 521 MB so it wouldn't take up my RAM)

I've ran the Portal settings on lowest and highest, there's no actual difference. Any solutions?

Don't play on a laptop?

To elaborate on that, the M series Cards were a bit.. Poor compared to their desktop counterparts until very recently. The driver support was very poor. Try looking on Nvidia's site for new ones, as they've very recently made a push to improve this.

Worth a stab.

I run my computer graphics on the N-Vidia GeForce 9000 series...

And yeah, running games on laptops is not recommended for those graphic demanding games. I've seen folks play Warcraft 3 type games and that's about it...

And yet I can play most of my games at highest setting :\ it's just the Portals that were fucking things up.

Anyways, Wolf solved the problem. Thank you very much.
