Title: 4 or so years of improvement.

I DREW
THIS IN 2004. AND THOUGHT IT WAS GOOD ENOUGH TO SHOW OFF HERE. AND HAD JUST ABOUT THE GAYEST PHOTOBUCKET USERNAME EVER. WHAT WAS
WRONG WITH ME.
Oh, right, I was 12.
Here's
something newer, that isn't quite as awful. Of course, I'm sure I'll hate it as much as I hate that... ugh.. "dragon-taur" within a couple of years.

Not bad, I liked the shading and colouring for the bark of the tree. As well, the colouring for the wisps of the tree is very nicely done, and the addition of a human figure just gives good perspective to just how massive the tree is (or possibly, just how tiny they are.).
All-in-all, I like it, and wouldn't mind seeing more of your artwork.

Thanks.
So I guess I'll use this as an art thread now, or something.
I'm going to Vancouver for a portfolio review and to visit some colleges in a couple of weeks, and I need more realistic stuff:

The masks and statue were drawn at the Seattle Art Museum (but I didn't get to finish the statue), and the portraits are my friends.
I don't know if any of this is portfolio-worthy, but it's good practice, at least.

Those are excellent. I've been trying for years, but I can never quite get that shading effect that you've achieved there on the picture of your friends. How do you do that?
It looks pretty.

http://carfilledwithfish.deviantart.com/ar...iggle-105382864Here's a simple animation I did a couple of days ago. I drew the frames in pencil first (+ lightbox), then cleaned them up in Flash.

Drugs of the psychedelic sort. Colours, love and deep phylisophical bullshit all around.
I must bring markers with me next time.

I absolutely love it. It reminds me of rice-boy, a webcomic I read. It was really awesome.

LSD, huh? You never struck me as the type.
Then again, your art IS trippy. CLEARLY, I need to be on some sort of drug to be a better artist.
...shouldn't be too hard, I live in southern california, if I go two blocks in any direction there's a place that sells pot.

If it's as easy to get medical marijuana in California as I've heard it is, you could probably just tell a doctor that you want it so you can draw better. Here in Washington, you pretty much can't get medical unless you have cancer. But we're getting off-topic.
I was looking at my
old, old art thread, because looking at my old stuff makes me feel a lot better about my current stuff, and got inspired to draw an old character that I've ignored since mid-2006.
LOOK AT THAT AMAZING BACKGROUND

I want to not suck at scenery so I
drew some.

Man, I put my Deviant Art account to good use and commented on your picture. Those are some nice branches, too.
Duck - August 30, 2009 05:46 AM (GMT)
Thanks. Comments are nice. Better than just faving something and not saying anything.
(which is totally hypocritical of me to say, since I do that a lot)
BONJOUR

So I'm trying to get a job. And they need examples of my work. I have a few things I made when I tried to get this same job at a different location, but that was about a year ago. Needed something new.
Also, I set up a
DAportfolio. Check out all my drawings of naked people!

I'm going to be completely honest: the way you make your art look is probably the most kickass thing ever. I am in love with your art. It makes me want to write poems about it. Also, I like the choice you went with for coloring. It looks slick.

Someone commissioned me to draw a drag queen.Speaking of commissions, I was dumb on New Year's and put a decently-sized dent in my car. I could really use $800 or so to fix it. HMM-HMM
