Title: C: low on memory
Description: Space...the limited frontier

Windclaw - July 13, 2008 04:29 AM (GMT)
This problem cropped up over the past couple weeks and I cannot think why its happening. A message pops up every hour or so, reguardless of what I'm doing, telling me C: (the drive housing Windows, IE, and most of the "esential" programs) is low on memory. Now, 20 Gig is...well thats low to start with, considering that Windows XP eats up half of that. But I dont understand how it keeps getting low on memory when I never use that disk space for anything. I store everything on the 150 Gig drive. This includes Fireworks, all vid software, and games. How in the hell is this happening or possilble.
And for a finer point, dont ask what kind of PC it is. Lets just say 'old mutt' and leave it there.

Try defragging or something. Thought that tends to be my answer for just about every computer problem.

Here's your explanation.

Don't fuck with it, though. It's set the way it is for a reason.

Danm! Looks like the first thing I'm buying with the new job money is gona be a new laptop. The defrag did very little, so I had to do some creative cleaning of files and shuttle everything that I knew was "non-esentail' over to the 150 Gig drive. If only I knew how to safely replace the mother board, this would not be a problem...

What does replacing a motherboard have to do with hard drive space, pray tell?

Windclaw - July 14, 2008 02:08 PM (GMT)
First, I've been wanting a better processor for a while and this is a valid excuse to rip out the mother boad and replace it. The slow down is painfull. Second, I can re-install windows on the 150 Gig and never have to wory about this shit again.

It's really not that hard to build your own stuff. Just takes a bit of common sense and manual reading.

Windclaw - July 14, 2008 02:18 PM (GMT)
And a ton of money...

Korvaz - July 14, 2008 02:38 PM (GMT)
You can build a crysis specced PC for under $600. Stop talking shit.

Example. Can probably do better, now.
