Title: EXERCISE
Description: (Neckbeards not tolerated)

Blackmist - July 10, 2008 07:21 AM (GMT)
After focusing entirely on my studies during the school year, I'm going to get back into exercise full-time. I intend on going to a local wrestling school (gay jokes abound), and I need to get my shit in order. I've learned through a previous diet just how long it takes for me to lose weight, and after an entire school year, I've found out how much I can gain.

Beginning: 200 pounds (Wasn't all that happy...)

Four to Five Months: 152 pounds (Visibility, but no bang)

Seven Months, Now: 180 pounds

Living next to a Wendy's, Denny's, Taco Bell, and Hardee's has not been good to me. I've become less social, more depressed, and more lethargic. It's my fault for being retarded.

I've been on a strict diet of salad, eggs, sweet tea, life water, and water. Now that I've bought a gym membership, I'll be throwing steak, fish, and chicken into the equation. I will be giving updates at least once a week, and will try to get ahold of a camera that isn't a busted piece of shit.

Quick Note: I do not find my being at 180 acceptable, though my goal this time around is not to just lose weight. This time, I'm looking to gain weight as well (Muscle please)

Well, at least you're looking out for yourself now. You should probably do more research about what foods are actually healthy/good for losing weight. You should also do more research on what exercises would help you lose body fat in relationship to where it is on your body and then focus more on muscle building exercises.

I don't think I'm an image of physical fitness, but I'm quite healthy. I'm a Lacto-ovo vegetarian and I consume a large amount of green vegetables, fruits, milk, beans and rice daily. I also usually consume a protein shake a day and a lot of vitamin supplements too. I try to run at least a mile a day, and I practice Kung-Fu daily. I weigh 108 and am 5'5".

You need to realize, though, that you can't allow yourself to get into the wrong mindset, because that will affect your body negatively. Don't constantly think negatively and don't obsess.

This probably sounds pretty vague, but that's my input.

Iota - July 10, 2008 02:29 PM (GMT)
With much less motivation than you, all I can say is that every morning at about seven I take the bike out and ride around for a few blocks, and stop by the gym about two to three times a week.

Diet, though? Nnnnnng...

Alastor Blackrose - July 10, 2008 02:49 PM (GMT)
Diets are pretty useless if you're just going to return to old habits afterwords.

Blackmist - July 12, 2008 09:51 AM (GMT)
While I may have began this topic in the middle of the week, I've been dieting for about a week or so. I'm currently taking things slow at the gym and doing the usual cardio and a bit of lifting until I get my shit in order. I'll be able to get a functioning camera at least by the end of the month.

No worries. I'm a... Shit, I'm not mellow, I'm constantly angry. Here's hoping that being angry burns calories.

Heading back to the gym and starting over is killer. Running for twenty minutes seems like such a huge task when it used to be about an hour, and now I feel like a meager weakling whenever I look at the weights. To say the least, I fucked up by stopping in the first place... (stupid highschool diploma)

Current weight: 175

No. Being angry isn't going to help unless you like lots of stress and heart attacks. Seriously, doing exercises like running, lifting weights and whatever while out of shape is stress enough for your body. Anger's just going to fucking make it worse, and the stress might just make you gain more weight anyway.

Ok, I'm going to go ahead and be serious here for a second so I can answer some quotes.

I only get angry these days when I either have "friends" over or when I have "friends" over asking for money. During those instances, it's easy enough for me to simply drive away and cool off. I'm mellow about 7/10 of the time.

Blackmist, I'd hate to think how bitchy you were if you ended up juicing. You engaged the hostilities, and are apparently getting a lob on at the fact people are replying. Go take a cold shower or something.

I believe I owe everyone here an apology. I have no excuse for how I reacted. I've acted overly defensive, been a dick, and I hate that. While probably a senseless post, I hope I can at least apologize for making a prick of myself.

BACK ON TOPIC, GENTS! :D

I exercise regularly. Every morning I go for a jog for about 15 minutes. Not much, but it helps. When I get home, I go to the garage and do pull-ups from a bar connected to the entrance to my attic until my arms get tired. On weekends my boyfriend and I go to the gym to fight.

0ctane - July 14, 2008 07:07 PM (GMT)
I don't exercise and eat whatever- no breakfast, sandwich for lunch, exotic foods for supper. I way somewhere around a hundred pounds, possibly less, but I have no scale. I should work out, and I would if I had motivation. I'm proud of you. dear sir.

('Scuse the necromancy, pleasethankyoucomeagain.)

Physical fitness is difficult for most people to keep up with--because, as you all know, most people are LAZY, and equipped with the motto, "put off today what you can always do tomorrow/ next week/month/year."

But I think it's just a matter of willpower. If one REALLY wants to lose weight, they would do whatever they could to accomplish that goal, with no exceptions or handicaps (for example, "I'll eat salad three days a week, and pizza the rest of the time," or "I'll run 3 miles, and treat myself to a sundae afterwards.) You've got to cut out anything that poses a major temptation, no matter how much you want it. But even more important than diet, in my opinion, is the physical exertion called EXERCISE (look at the thread title, in case you happen to forget.)

You guys have got me thinking about how much I need to get back on track. My one weakness is school, with temptations galore (school food, friends who take me out to lunch, and sitting around all day isn't the best combination.) I try to counteract it by walking 2-3 miles to and from school when I can, but I know it's not quite enough.

Currently, I'm 5'5" and 117 lbs...which is average, but, you know, it's AVERAGE, so I want to be GREAT instead of just average, you know?

But anyhow, since you last post, I hope you've been doing well, Blackmist, and I wish you luck. Always strive to be the best that you can be, even better. There is no ceiling; just an open sky. =]

Alastor Blackrose - August 25, 2008 04:35 AM (GMT)
Being GREAT is the process of TRYING to be GREAT. I would never recommend school food, though. That shit is terrible. Dieting too, fuck dieting. Either change the way you eat or don't.

Citizen Bill - August 27, 2008 09:12 PM (GMT)
1) Sleep
2) Diet
3) Exercise

Those are the three things in order of importance that you need to get into better shape.

1) Sleep- Goddammit, you fuck, get eight hours, fuck, your body doesn't have time to do shit if you're awake all the time. Shit.

2) I don't mean eat less, I mean eat quality. If you can't fucking pronounce the ingredient do not put that shit into your mouth.

3) Run lots, you fat faggot. 30-40 minutes at a time. Strength training with weights is also good but it won't help you lose fat.

SketchedHero - August 28, 2008 02:22 AM (GMT)
Fall and spring baseball, basketball, track... I dunno, I think the school year offers plenty of options for exercise, and I enjoy one of those sports. Still do the others though.

Meditation and expression through writing (poems, music, whatever) and drawing generally keeps my emotions at check, although there are those stressors that trigger their extremities.

I don't really bother with watching what I eat... I do try to avoid over-doing sugar though. Soda is disgusting, so it's not really a problem with me.

But bla, I'm 5'10, 138 lbs.

I'm a bit late, but good luck with the whole deal, BM.

School food--pure shit.

When I say diet, I DO mean changing the way you eat. I'm not saying, 'go swallow 50 diet pills and starve yourself, you worthless fatass.'

(Nobody's worthless here, by the way.)

Citizen Bill: You make a good point on sleep. If one wants to lose weight, then getting enough sleep's essential. (Although it can be truly hard for real insomniacs, who can't sleep a damn wink at all.)

So...

EAT...QUALITY food.

SLEEP...the amount that you need.

EXERCISE...seriously, go jog or something!

Alastor Blackrose - August 28, 2008 09:04 PM (GMT)
Yeah, you're really one to post in a fitness thread. The girl who complains about being 'average'.

Because, you know, being at a healthy weight is terrible.
