After I got tired of re-installing Norton 2000 every year, I switched to AVG antivirus. Alongside that, I have Lavasoft Adaware 2007 to scan for little things. However, I'm just curious if I should know about better antivirus systems, which are free. I believe my computer has been a tad bit slower since AVG, I haven't really noticed but, never hurts to be safe.

So, just curiosity getting me. What's the suggested Antivirus to use?

Free? Avast. Light, does plenty, not a system hog.

Paid? Nod32. Even smaller, insanely powerful detection engine.

I remember hearing a few good comments about Avast! antivirus a few years back, maybe it's still good?

I use McAfee right now and I'm fine with it, besides my computer being annoyingly slow while it updates and making that ringing noise (it still haunts me to this day).

You get what you pay for. I'd recommend it over AVG any day, though.
