Hello all, well, with the death of ANW. I began to plan a new RPG. And here I think I have something.

The netherworld, neither heaven, hell, nor purgatory. It is a mirror of our world. All things that seem odd in this world can usually be linked to occurrences in the netherworld. Aliens, shadow people, sea monsters. All are occurrences caused by rifts from the netherworld. There are beings that use these rifts to try and communicate the will of the demons to mankind, there are those that seek to use them in order to escape the government of their world and live amongst us. There are those that seek to wreak havoc on the world of humans. And then, there are the others, the humans. People cast from our world into netherworld. A rare occurrence indeed, such an event harbingers great change however, for their world, and for our own.

Kai stands at approximately 6' 2" and weighs somewhere around 182 lbs. He has long oddly blue hair that hangs down just over his eyes and is generally unkept. His eyes match his hair and are a kind of icy blue. His clothing usually consists of a grey button down shirt which he never buttons regardless of whether or not he has a shirt on underneath. His pants usually consist of a pair of loose fitting black cloth and his feet are covered by black combat boots.

She has never once gotten too close to anyone, and she has always lived alone being an only child. Only her closet tells of the true Jeanne behind the fleshy disguise.

background: As a young boy he was sheltered, and sent to a british all boys academy. Until about age 8 he lived in the dorms, and visited his parents when he could, it was a simple and easy life. At that age, something horrible happened. As it turns out, his father was a psychopath, and couldn’t take his wife’s yelling at him one night, and killed her, and then himself. The boy was then moved to an orphanage, where he spent his years hopeing to be adopted. Eventually, he did come across such a chance, as he was adopted by an old woman, who was stern and strict. He was taught by her, and was taught the horros of like through her bony hands. When she died, she left all her possesions to nobody, and him being the only family she had, he inherited all of her wealth and her savings. At age 18, he moved to New York and moved into the city, working as a journalist. He still works as such, however he wishes to be a novelist.

...I don't think neurologists usually finish school until their late twenties, not early. 23 just seems... a little too young. Most people that get just a Master's finish at age 21-22 at the earliest. I'm pretty sure medical school, especially for such a specialized job requires several more years after a more basic degree. Hell, to get a PhD can take a year or two in itself.

Actually it takes 8 years of medical training to earn your phd, including the training for whatever area of medicine you plan to work in. I know this because thats what I'm facing in about a month and a half.

Nah, it isn't deism. While, yes, I did mention the fact that he believes those things, he is more than open to the idea that he might be wrong. Deism is far to constrictive to describe it. For one, although I am no expert, I think Deists only believe in one god (whom they title "God"), and Davin is more under the impression that there have to be multiple.

Thus, given his knowledgable lack of knowledge, he is much closer to being defined as agnostic.

wow, I wasn't expecting this good of a turn-out. heh. Okay, I'm going to read through all these and then I'll post my character. He or she (depends on who you get for your guide) is more of a guide to the party. I'll be playing narrator throughout the story. and be all the NPC's of course. background: Came into Netherworld in the late 1800's. He soon joined a ship thinking it would sail him home, however his ship along with his captain and crew mates were caught by the two beasts. The Behemoth and the Leviathan. It was up to Nuremberg, who was the only survivor, to put the entire crew out of their misery, as the two monsters do not kill, but torture. He has hunted them ever since with madness unrivaled (the year on Earth is 1998 by the way)

Background: Was sentenced to a twenty year sentence in prison after killing a man in a bar fight. Later that night, a friend of the man Brian murdered was also killed. Brian admitted to killing the first man, but claimed innocence over the second man’s death. Brian was charged with both murders. Furious with this result, Brian broke out of his medium security prison and killed every juror, lawyer, and the judge involved with his case. Pleading guilty to the preceding crime, Brian was sentenced to three consecutive life sentences in prison with opportunity for parole after two life sentences. Brian is currently residing in a maximum security wing of a prison in Washington D.C.

background: Lillian Vicious was an abused child in the human world, and only half-exists in the Netherworld, she enters there during her sleep, where her repressed feelings are let out, her parents are abusive in real life, and her Netherworld identity acts as her darker self. All things that physically happen to her netherworld self happen to her real self, and vice versa. As such, her human world self is very sickly, is not a virgin, and has scars all up and down her arms. Her parents see this, and, misunderstanding it as suicide attempts, have locked her away from the world and continue to beat her, she has since developed a type of dementia in both her identities. She wanders the Netherworld freely as she is one of the only denizens of it that comes and goes at their own will.

In it's seventy years of existence, Nocturne City has become a thriving spot for arts and commerce, and, at Eckleburg's bequest. the city is kept in a state of eternal night. So that all the dance clubs and such may remain open and have a better atmosphere about them. He is a bootlegger of illegal goods from other realms, as well as a mafia lord and several other less than reputable titles, however he is a nice man, and remains very level-headed, though it's not sure what his connection to Lillian is (other than a source for her drugs.)

other: Angels are considered to be a higher caste in Netherworld, they are, as such, held in ill regard by most demons and some other creatures as well. Angels can be very egotistical and can often times be blinded by their own self-righteousness.

powers: elves have better senses and over-all traits than humans. Elves have the strange ability to photosynthesize as well, as they can draw energy from the sun. They also possess powers over their surroundings, terramorphing, as it is called.
other: Elves are a more secretive race in Netherworld, keeping to their tribes in the more naturalististic surroundings, away from the large cities. They are very in-tune with the world, and as such, make excellent terramorphers. There really isn't much difference between dark elf and light elf other than that the elven tribes are in a seemingly endless feud between dark and light, so acceptance into a tribe of light elves for lodging with a dark elf in your travelling party is a good way to get yourself into trouble.

powers: vampires posess powers of transformation, flight, and the ability to turn humans into vampires. They are also in tune with the night and the soil. Vampires can make very good terramancers. (different from terramorphers, who simply control their surroundings, terramancers only control the element of Earth.) They are actually quite frail without their blood however, and aren't as supremely strong as humans sometimes depict, vampires are instead, simply durable, They can withstand great ammounts of pain and still come forth to fight again.
other: Vampires are more secretive than elves in that they tend to keep to themselves and live alone, however they are more fond of cities than natural settings, as elves are. Vampires are weakened in the Sun and occasionally have days where going into the sun will result in eavy scarring and being very damaging to the body of a vampire.
