Title: My PC won't turn on.
AngelHalo - February 12, 2008 08:50 PM (GMT)
I'm using my PS3 to post this message.
So I just got home from school, and I tried to turn on my PC, then I discovered that my PC won't even turn on any more. The last time I used my PC was last night around 11:PM Central, in which I shut down my PC. My PC cannot even boot any more. I tested the cable by using another power cable to power on my PC, but that didn't work. I plugged my PC to my wall outlet (it has always been plugged into a common power strip), and it still won't work. My monitor, router, speakers, USB Keyboard and mouse still works fine, but not my Computer.
Its the "Dead PC" topic all over again as I have NO access to my hard disk drive. I'm thinking the problem may be with the power supply, or my Mother-Board, but I won't find out for sure until friday. In the mean time, I've left everything (except for the router) unplugged, and from time to time, I'll try to turn on my PC again tonight.
Is there any advice anyone can provide?
(I may post my PC specs later)

Mine stopped working the other day. A good kick got it working again.. Yeah. I know. Weird.
Uh.. Make sure all switches are on, cable are secure, etc etc. Also have a good twiddle with the power button. it could even be that.

Tried to do that, but it still doesn't work. I think I should note that there is a light by the power button, which indicates that your PC does have power, and that light has never glowed today.
I should also note that Yellow Dog Linux, on my PS3, is useless as fuck as I don't know what flash installer to install here (or those that are compatible to begin with), along with some kind of codec to play WMV files. If anyone knows a good installer guide and downloads for other linux applications (because Yellow Dog isn't doing much for me at the moment), that would be nice as I could at least have a decent computer to use for a bit. Or better yet, a way to emulate Windows on here.
Also, here is my PC specs from about a month ago (as saved using CPUZ and Photobucket)
OneTwoThreeFourFiveSixAt least FireFox on YDL works just fine.

Probably your power supply. Replace it, and all should work. Or test with another, known working PSU. don't open it up and try to fix it yourself. good chance it will kill you, and whatnot.

Got it replaced, thanks to my old junk computer's good old power supply box that my dad bought years ago. According to my pops, the PSB is "Gaming Ready". I'm not sure if I should test it's power by seeing if my PC will this time wake up if I put it to sleep, would it make a difference with a new power supply?

It should work.

you don't use sleep mode on desktops anyway. They're nto desgined for it. Plus it wastes power.

Lots of people do, for some reason or another...
I had to actually tell a friend to stop freaking using Hibernate every time she wanted to lock her computer. >.>; And she wonders why it's fucked up some weeks later.
