CREATION
-Anyone can, no prior approval needed, so long as it fits these guidelines.
-RPs MUST have something of a plot to start, described in the opening post. Random "Bob walks into a bar...." types are not RPing as much as they are spam, and belong in Random Encounters subforum.
-Thread creators must keep an up-to-date biography thread for all approved characters in the Mercenary Conclave subforum. Periodic summaries of the plot are also encouraged, so newcomers can catch up easily. RPs already in progress must post the same.
-One-on-one RPBs belong in the Random Encounter subforum.
-ANYONE can join any RP they wish, so long as they put thought into their posts and follow the current plot. The exception is the Random Encounter subforum, where the battles are by invitation only.
-You may refuse to accept someone from entering your role play if you wish, though provide reasons for doing so please.
CHARACTERS
-Characters must be approved by the thread creators before posting to the RP, to make sure everything gets mixed in smoothly.
-No God chars, of course. Your chars can't be invincible, unbelievably well-armed, and you cannot kill others' chars without their player's consent.
-Once you begin posting, you must notify the thread creator if you become unable to continue for a long period of time. If they don't hear from you, after two weeks, your chars will have to become shared among the players. The main goal is to keep the RP going!
POSTS
-Keep the rating below R...preferably below PG-13. We want people of all ages to be able to play. You can swear, just keep the god damned swearing down
-Keep them at least a paragraph, please and thanks. But don’t write books for us, but also not a sentence.
Examples:
Bad:
Billy walked through the forest and found the key!
Better:
Billy footsteps crunched the leaves underneath, as he looked around himself. The forest was full of dangerous creatures, one could never be too careful. His left hand gripped the axe on his belt, ready to draw it any moment. He had to get out of here quickly, Jenny was in danger if he didn’t find the chest.
He hurried further, and with his speed, didn’t notice the low hanging branch that smacked him in the face, causing him to fall to the ground with a thump, and crack his head on something… metal? The key! It was the key! He grabbed it eagerly, finally, everything could be made right.
See the difference? I mean, I don’t like either, but you can note which one’s better.
-Keep the OOC comments to a minimum, please. Any questions you have can be re-directed through IM or PMs, and any posts that are strictly OOC will be regarded as spam.
-Revised version of Tara Jenkins’s original rules.
