Title: Possum problem...

I live in a medium sized town in Kansas, so I don't think this would be expected...

I few days ago, I kept hearing noises coming from my bathroom, and I kept telling my step-dad that there was something in the bathroom closet, and he says that it's a load of bullshit, and said that it was coming from under the house, which we moved to in about October. Well, turns out I was right, and that it was a Possum. I yelled for my step-dad, saying I told you, while my mom was getting on him for saying that I was speaking bullshit a few days ago. I was saying that it got in by going through the gap between the bathtub and got into the closet that way, probably eating the cat's cat food, which we store in the closet. It also explained why the cat kept craping behind the living room TV. My step-dad wanted to just go in there, with bare hands and no shoes on and choke it (Obviously, he had at least several drinks), and my mom and I were telling him heck no, he at least needed to wear gloves, because we don't know if it has Rabies or not, and because of that, we really can't let it out where it could just bite anybody. Well, by the time my step-dad was ready to go, the thing went back through the hole. He plans to board it up tomorrow. Although he won't stop complaining about not being able to kill it. >_>

While not exactly related, a couple of Squirrels ran straight through the front door of my house sometime ago. My neighborhood has a couple of issues with squirrels and rabbits.

When I still lived in New York, I saw a freaking raccoon causing trouble on my block. I lived in NY for 14 years and never seen anything like that. At any rate, wearing gloves to deal with those is good.

oi, I have possums outside my house too, yeah. Though luckily they haven't busted in yet. We've also had coyote and fox reports around our neighborhood, the foxes were a few years ago but my brother actually saw a coyote around a couple of days ago...as for your possums, hire a trapper.

oh no, a possum! call the police!
My brother adopted a baby possum. he walked around the house with it hanging from his arm. we also had a box of rats, wild, that we adopted. My dad's Girlfriend puts food out for racoons and a couple possums, some of the racoons are able to be petted.
Just go in there with a towel and a cat carrier, grab him in the towel, and put him the the carrier. take him to a vet. Possums arn't as filthy as everyone thinks..
..though, this is coming from a rancher/military vetren/bar owner/ advertisment entroupenour/ insert-twenty-more-job-types's son.
Or, you could always just call someone to hunt the little bugger down and cage him for yah.
