Title: It's that time of the year again~
Description: Time to hunt for a summer job for me.

Yeah, hey everyone. It's me again, Hank the Cowdog FH.

Some of you might have heard over in the Spammish Inquisition that I've graduated. This is very true, I've graduated High School with a diploma to prove it. Now what lies in front of me is the summer months, and I'm going to be hunting for a job to earn some extra income (not just for myself, but for my family; as said before in this subforum, my family's got some income problems). But I'm a bit clueless on where to start on my summer job hunt.

This is where you guys come in. I'm asking you all, what kind of jobs should I start looking for, and what should the skills I need for the job be?

You could look up some job agencies. While they'll tend to give you fairly low-bracket jobs at first, you can make quite a bit of quick money. Also, if you just do temporary work, you're not tied down to one career.

You could also do the usual. Go around your local shops, ask them if they've got an application form. Look at the job listings in your local newspaper. And don't be afraid to put out a hell of a lot of applications.

Oh, and I'm not sure if you have one, but if you don't, you ought to write up a c.v./résumé, as a lot of places will ask for one.

Well, I could write up a resumè. I did learn how to do it during a week in class.

I'm sure I could look around. Thanks for the pointers.

Be sure to know what you're good at, because chances are job employers won't give training and if they think you're not good at it, they'll toss you on the spot.

I've seen people struggling to get a job claiming that they'll do "anything", but not really know what they good at. What's worse, is that they'll go on about what they need and how they're suffering and whatnot. That's another thing: confidence pwns. If you can prove that you have the attitude to work, that's a good reason they'll hire you.

That especially works for interviews. My friend passed me this the other day. It has some useful pointers, I think.

DO NOT GIVE UP! If a job search turns sour, move on and keep trying. There's work somewhere.

Hope this helps.

Yea. Im working for a local service company that finds you a good job even if it only temporary for afew days. I do lose my confidence but I dont give up that easilly. I know she might be watching above I know im getting closer to getting a job but I just have to keep tring. if its a business, Like BIG business, You have to wear a suit and dress up. It must not be too dspecail nor too casuel. resently, standing up for why anyone got fired actully helps shows guts and responiblity.

If you have no previous experience, you most likely should look into work at a Grocery store or some sort of fast-food place. I know it sucks, but employers can be stingy. Other than that, I'd suggest you try filing out some online applications for stores that are in your area.
