Title: Hall Of Honor.

Why not have a hall which records members who convey behaviour and perform acts that are valued by TFS.

To record them and their actions to act as an example for us all.

Every topic that hasn't been closed, moved or edited is an example of a posts within reasonable means.

So we'd have an awfully big section to try and list every "decent" topic.

Also, we're not going to promote a "better than thou" system amongst the members; that was already an issue at one time when people assumed post-count = better.

NO NO NOOOOOOOOO!

Alastor dont be a smart ass. what you've done has already been done before [hall of heroes]. And it doesnt even apply here becuase thats thats a list of people who showed the capability of being a mod [or comic author in the case of a overlord]. Its not so much that they've done things of great value as they've not done things that are reviled [matched with the previously mentioned ability to mod well].

And no Jet, iam not talking about within reasonable means, iam not talking about better than thou and iam not talking about decent.

Iam refering to people who have shown behaviour above reasonable and decent. For example a person who in the face of flaming, doesnt flame back, people who make logical and well versed posts, people who in a situation where anyone else would falter, didnt. People who realise they've done a mistake and apologise, instead of argueing on and on. Diffusing a bad situation.

This is just off the top of my head. Take it with a pinch of salt.

Iam generally talking about people who have done something exceptional. If its something that can actually be recognised, then it would be worth recording.

Instead of having a system that highlights the bad things people do, why not have something that highlights the exceptional things people do. If a member shows signs of an e penis at being mentioned, delete the mentioning, he or she doesnt deserve it. Its not "better than thou", its "better see? why dont you try it?".

if we had to worry about "better than thou" attitudes, then no one would ever recieve credit for anything. The current system only avoids and punishes bad behaviour. It doesnt actually encourage good behaviour. What you have from this system is bland posters, not doing anything bad but not doing anything all that good either.

Wan chan this isnt the damn SI.

At least alastors post can argue the relevance of its content.

Speak for yourself, I've been impressed with the quality of some of the posts in Chit Chat and even the SI recently.

Most of the things you mentioned should be commonsense when dealing with posting and the conduct thereof. Not only are they supposed to be standards for how to handle such a situation, but rules for posting here or places that don't need "ur dumb" comments.

So, adding to what I said: the people that haven't been banned, warned, suspended, had their content edited for utter stupidity, or along the lines of, are considered decent posters. They've kept a clean record through their time spent at TFS, understood the rules, and have followed them accordingly to not receive no punishment.

There's no reason to glorify someone in a topic to otherwise make the other members feel lesser; exempting, of course, the fact we have a hall of shame that's used to show you what not to do.

Dpe those posts are far and few between.

People arent behaving as by the standards and like isaid take my examples with a pinch of salt, i just came up with them off the top of my head. I wouldnt know what above the standard would be. And thats what the hall of honor should be about. And i doubt people here have such a weak self esteem that people will feel lesser. but again i already stated and countered that point. Jet, we're going in circles, forgot it.
