The thing that irks me is the focus on humans. I mean, HELL, the movie is called "Transformers" not "Humans reacting to alien lifeforms waging a war on their planet."

Other than that I thought it was sex. I can probably die a happy man come Independence Day.

Grandma Serflak - December 21, 2006 03:10 AM (GMT)
Well, humans generally have more character depth than giant transforming robot cars.

Mecheon - December 21, 2006 06:11 AM (GMT)
Eh, you have to have humans in it at some point. As long as the Transformers get development as well. Preferably more development. Especially the Decepticons

I just want Starscream to go about attempting to usurp Megatron's control. That's why he's great. Though a lack of Soundwave is somewhat saddening, due to Soundwave being made of awesome. But he will hopefully be in later, as something befiting his awesome

Oh, and Scorpinok? He's in your base, killing your dudes. And Blackout (Helicopter guy) looks to be made of pure awesome

Otaku no M - December 21, 2006 07:21 AM (GMT)
Looks like the Autobots got more colors than the Decepticons.

And you still kinda wonder how some of those things are supposed to transform.

"Some will come to defend us. Most will come to destroy us." I like those odds.

Still a pretty interesting trailer.

Hazzardous - December 21, 2006 07:28 AM (GMT)
It's still rather sad Soundwave will not be in this current Transformer movie, but on the other hand, do I want him in a movie that's going to take away his Stereo Transformation look?

Oh, and the trailer was neat, but it's still roughly keeping us in the dark on what the robots look like....I mean their faces btw...

Mecheon - December 21, 2006 07:43 AM (GMT)
Eh, I'll be happy if they take away his stereo transformation as long as he is large and can say "Laserbeak: Eject. Operation: Terminate" in a monotone voice, and have his aformentioned vulture-drone kill his enemies

However, he used to be a micro-cassette player. He had a puny alternate form. Then he grew... A lot, into his normal form. Seeing as the movie is going down the "Realistic" route rather than the "Mass-shifting" which allowed Megatron to turn into a hand-held pistol and yet stand taller than Starscream normally, Soundwave should be something big, with a capacity for his cassette-drones to be held within him

Preferably in the sequal of corse. Then again, I want more characters in the sequal. Like the Constructicons

I'm not the biggest Transformers fan ever, but a movie about giant robots = HAPPY NIGHT.

The main focus on the humans was probably done specifically for the trailer, so we should see more of the Autobots and Decepticons in the finished movie. I don't like the over-realistic robot designs, but they're still nice. And the only reason G1 Soundwave's and Megatron's transformation actually makes sense to me is because I'm all hooked up on Getter Robo.

I still wonder what exactly Megatron will be. I hope to see him as a tank. I always wanted that G2 Megatron tank figure as a kid... something I hope to get before I die.

I would've preferred the G1 designs, though... or the Armada designs. Armada was a shitty anime, but I loved the robot designs.

The only thing I want more than a Transformers movie would be an american made Transformers cartoon, like the old days. Despite me being a mecha obsessed otaku, I didn't really like any anime adaption of Transformers (but I've only seen the newer ones, so whatever).

Mecheon - December 21, 2006 09:25 AM (GMT)
Beast Wars was easily the best of the American made Transformer series in my opinion. In some sort of ironic humour, the Japanese apparantly got a dubbed version which attempted to turn its "serious when it should be" into "Squeeze humour out of it at every available moment", such as the delightfully evil Megsy not saying "Yesssssss" when he should, but instead screaming like a little girl whenever fired upon

The fans were not happy. I find it ironically simular to the One Piece situation, except it happened about 5 years beforehand. Life is irony

My random Transformer rumour source dictates that there is another Transformers series coming, being done in America. Though I think I saw something about it having Firetruck Optimus rather than... Other-truck Optimus

As for ol' Megatron, I have no idea. I've heard conflicting things. I do want him to be a tank though. Preferably able to Kill You Dead style tank, but there's another Decepticon who's a tank so Megatron will probably be something different

Apparantly they tried the G1 designs and they didn't work. At all. And, eh, I like some of these designs. Optimus is ok, I'm not a fan of Bumblebee, but most of the Decepticons are pure love. Particularly Blackout

Agreed on all counts. After seeing the concept sketches several months back offsite, I have high hopes on the movie. One thing is for sure though...

This will either make or break the franchise...and if bay drops the ball on this....

Good gods...it's gonna be G.I.N.O all over again, only ten times worse..

They better be sure they don't blow this....Transformers was one of the first cartoons of the 80's and has mucho memories tied with it...to rape it from it's original feel would be most sad...

Mecheon - December 21, 2006 11:23 AM (GMT)
It'll probably be nothing like the original cartoon (Which is causing the fanboys to go beserk already), but it should be good. Of corse, to be like the cartoon, it would need to be about the Decepticons trying to steal energy from the Earth in all manner of ways. Though, there's been several variations to Transformers. But it doesn't involve various random girls kissing the Transformers to give them powers and other stuff that the most recent Japanese line has thrown out, so it'll be fine. The less said about that line the better

And of corse, giant robots blowing stuff up makes everything better

Fireyone - December 23, 2006 12:48 AM (GMT)
My god........That.....was.......pure.......AWESOME! To bad the Dinobots won't be in considering they were G1 characters! But I like optimus having the Flames makes him look like a trucker really owns him. Also I wonder who the chopper might be could it be Soundwave? (I may be thinkhing of Blastwave but....) Also I gotta say that Optimus who has been confirmed being voiced by Peter Cullins (UBER ORIGINAL PRIME BITICH!) is going to be a pretty awesome and Megatron will be kickass! This is also gonna be a trilogy from what I heard all TF fans I think will enjoy it! Though I hope thunder Cracker is gonna be in it I like his wisecracks and stupidity =D

Mecheon - December 23, 2006 03:09 AM (GMT)
Helicopter's called Blackout. He wasn't in G1, at all. The first instance of him I've found was a toy only character from ages ago, and the most recent was a small helicopter combiner in the recent series

Thundercracker isn't in it though. But, eh, he was just a bluish recolour of Starscream. I'd much prefer Blitzwing, and not just because he was a triple changer. He went against the Decepticons in order to try and ensure that they all didn't loose, and became hunted by them for it, yet respected by the Autobots

Fireyone - December 23, 2006 04:05 AM (GMT)
Ahh Blackout he was in the transformers Armada. Hehe To bad Thunder Cracker ain't in it I could see him being a F-22 Raptor. Course that might be to good for him.

Mecheon - December 23, 2006 06:18 AM (GMT)
Thundercracker, and by association Skywarp, would be exactly the same as Starscream but in different colours, just like the old days. Starscream being mainly white, with red and blue, Thundercracker being mainly blue, with black, and Skywarp being mainly black, with purple

But rather than null rays, Skywarp could teleport and push people down the stairs, while Thundercracker could doubt the Decepticon cause but be too scared by Megatron to do anything about it and... That's about it. He really didn't do much. Starscream was the trecherous one, Skywarp was the dumb one, and Thundercracker was the other one

He did want Starscream to get in trouble once though and tried to let Skyfire blow up stuff and blame Starscream. It didn't work. Then he was chucked out of Astrotrain. Poor guy

oO?Kodama - December 23, 2006 06:22 AM (GMT)
Scorponok is in the trailer and kicking arse, 'nuff said.

Fireyone - December 23, 2006 02:30 PM (GMT)
The scorpion thing right. I just hope this doesn't turn into a big flop like Eragon GAH!!!! WORST MOVIE TO DATE!!!!!!! But, Graphics wise best to date.

Mecheon - December 25, 2006 11:33 AM (GMT)
Won't turn into something like Eragon. At the worst, it'll be human armies versus giant invading robot aliens and a few aliens are on the humans side. Little to do with Transformers, but still explosions and a big ass helicopter of doom

At best, it'll be great and set up for a great sequal with some of the more famous Decepticons. Such as the one-eyed "Computer on legs" Shockwave who turns into a sattelite, Astrotrain the train/space shuttle Triple-changer who... Served as a transport pretty much, or Soundwave, the communications guy

Soundwave: Superior. Constructicons: Inferior

And yes, Scorpinok is awesome. He is apparantly a drone of Blackout. This only further increases the awesome of both of them

Oh, and Blaster versus Soundwave needs to happen

charles - January 4, 2007 12:38 PM (GMT)
transformer need to have humans in it.

but if its gonna be like alien vs predator.
AKA seeing the humans panik 7/8 of the entire film as you hardly SEE any of the real film

then i'll curse it into damnation
