Title: Eragon
Description: Yes, I actually read the books

Reggie - December 9, 2006 09:06 PM (GMT)
I've seen the few trailers for the Eragon movie to be released soon. And, I must say I'm slightly disappointed. They didn't get actors that portrayed the characters very well. At least from what I've seen. I still want to see this movie, because as far as I'm concerned the graphics look pretty awesome.

So, does anyone think I'm going to waste my money seeing this, or are there actually other fans of this trilogy?

Edit: This is for discussion of the movie, not the books.

Well I'm planning on seeing it, so I hope we're not wasting money. I'm excited that they made a movie, but I'm also terrified that they didn't do well making it. Oh well, I guess we'll just have to see.

Yea, I'm dissapointed in what this movie looks like, in general. They don't seem to get a grasp on the atmosphere, very much. =/
I'm a big fan of the books, It's dissapointing to see good writing (even if, cliche'd writing) go to waste on the masses in the (simply ugly, In my opinion) interpretation of a single movie producer that just happened to get the job. The book lends well to a movie; I just wish the imagery had been done better, given the fact that every character is described MORE than well enough to pick up on, given that the book is, very much, read like a super-advanced RP-ish sounding style.

I never read the books, so I can't exactly complain about the right actors but, dosn't the main character look like Harvey from Sabrina the Teenage Witch to anyone else? But, at any rate, I hope it isn't as boring as the fourth movie of Harry Potter. There was a kid behind me who ruined it for me, and I kind of didn't like the whole lovey-dovey stuff. But I digress.
I look forward to Eragon's special effects and their use of dragons.

The special effects don't look quite so fitting, from what I saw... D=
They're awfully overdone, to the point where they look too perfect for the environment- that's the same problem I got looking over the actors. They're too perfect, they shouldn't look flawless, given the environment. =/

HEY GUYS I JUST SAW IT

I'll give a little overview.

They left out a LOT of major characters, The Twins were never mentioned, Angela was not at the final battle, none of the horses were made to seem as important as they really were. In addition they changed much of the scenery that was described in the book, Farthen Dur wasn't underground, and Gilead wasn't in all of it's glory. However some of these changes made the movie much more interesting, for example the Ra'zac were killed by Brom and Eragon. This also means Durza is the biggest badass in all of story HISTORY. He'll summon @#$%ING BAT out of FIRE that will eat you in one bite.

I'll leave the rest for you guys to find out.

No twins? No battling Angela?! Ra'zac DEAD?! FARTHEN DUR ISN'T UNDERGROUND?! Blasphemy!!

...... *plans to watch it anyway*

Somebody said it was a trilogy... Are all three books out in the US? I can't even find the second. Not to try and change the topic off the movie, but yeah...

The second book is this red one, I think. They looked similar, so.

I disagree, it wasn't as bad as some would first percieve, if you hadn't have read the book everything would have seemed quite natural.

LURVED the first book, never got to reading the rest. Can't wait to see the movie.

I saw the movie. It wasn't that great, but it wasn't the worst film ever.

Then I heard about how much better the book was.

Then I heard about how the author's parents published it and he has an ego bigger than the sun.

But yes, the movie's not that great, and the whole Eragon thing is pretty much a ripoff of lots of other things. That and the main character pissed me off through the whole movie.

It was alright, didn't feel like I was sitting there just waiting for it to bloody end.

Grandma Serflak - December 20, 2006 06:23 PM (GMT)
The books were written by a 15-year-old.

Which explains why the dialogue is absolutely retarded.
