Description: 1st not-a-sticky-topic

Does first topic dance.........done.
Ok so lets give this a try, My character is a zero recolour (gasp) and its time
for change, the old sprites are right here.
He is a swordsman/demonic human and I want him to look like a human but
still have somewhat a demonic appearance, I looked around the bases and
couldnt find anything that suited me and now this has opened up, as for the
hair I wanted to use mikagami's hair from flame of recca, but it didnt fit some
of the sheets, so I bassicly want a human character swordsman that gives off a
demonic sense.

Betatronic - December 5, 2006 11:07 AM (GMT)
So you're not losing hope, I'm here. I'll do an analysis and try to give you a start tomarrow...it's like 3AM here.

Creepy - December 5, 2006 11:47 AM (GMT)
Demonic swordsman, eh?

To get this thread (And section) a little bit of a start, I whipped up a new sword, one that I hope is a bit more demon-flavored than the one you're already using.

It's simple enough that it can be changed easily should the base for your sprites change to the point where it'd be too big/small to use, so it should be a useful start no matter where the work on this leads to. At the moment, it's the same size as your original sword (Which is on there for a basis of comparison), so I guess you could say it's ready for use.

Used Creepy's sword because it looks badasstical and yet simple. And I used Gon (It's on Beta's bases thing) for everything except the arms/hands. Which are Ichigo's. With the exact same colour scheme of your character (Except for one shade in the face) And I saw that you were trying to do a style with his hair so I replicated it. =3

Betatronic - December 6, 2006 03:30 AM (GMT)
Be sure to include all parts you used as a sepereate sheet.
That way he and other people can use them to make sprites.

DarkCaster - December 6, 2006 03:36 AM (GMT)
omg the sword looks so cool, and that pose looks pretty good especcialy
with the sword, I think I've found my new base Gon, Ichigo and maybe Mikagami
if the hair looks good. Can you post the pallete as when I made those sprites I
randomly placed colours on -_-
And again OMG I LOVE THE SWORD its way better than the original katana.

Betatronic - December 6, 2006 03:40 AM (GMT)
Keep us posted on your progress, and make sheets of parts as you use and edit them so others can help out.

Samuel La Croix - December 6, 2006 04:16 AM (GMT)
Uhhh
Unless I misunderstood I editted the example to what Beta and DarkCaster wanted.

Btw: I editted the outter lines to make it look a bit different, so if you remake it with Ichigo+Gon it'll look different <_<

DarkCaster - December 7, 2006 05:29 AM (GMT)
I'm having trouble, no matter what I do I can't get it to seem right,
can someone peice some of it together for me? Like put it together then put
the armless base with the arms detached so I can get a better idea
how to do it.
I'm using Mikagami's head but recolouring it black and grey.

DarkCaster - January 10, 2007 06:38 AM (GMT)
I wonder if this is considered grave digging?
I was fooling around and decided to scrap the metal armour,
the origonal design (link goes here) was that he was wearing simple clothes and was weilding a katana.
So I looked around the bases for a small build with normal clothes and that
could weild a sword and I came up with this.

This was made using Kenshin and Creepy's sword.
I still want him to look demonic-ish so I was thinking of adding a wing (teh one winged angel) but he is now a demonic-ish swordsman-ish demon summoner.
I don't need SFX for his attacks or anything I've got that all under controll.

So how does it look? I have an alternate unfinished version were he is using a staff.
EDIT: the image was very large in size so I'm just giving a link.
Personally I think the 1st one looks better, creepy's sword just looks so damn good.

Betatronic - January 10, 2007 06:50 AM (GMT)
It looks alot like Janus' Samurai Cowboy. Perhaps editing the jacket a bit? At least so it's not just a simple recolor

DarkCaster - January 10, 2007 07:24 AM (GMT)
Does this help?
user posted image
Its supposed to be a shirt undernethe the jacket but I couldn't seem to give the effect of it being under the jacket.

Betatronic - January 10, 2007 07:53 AM (GMT)
Looks much nicer. My only gripe is the colors. See... they're too vivid and bright. Try to dull them out a bit so they're not such an eyesore. Look at Sparks' example of Gayle in Gayle's topic.

DarkCaster - January 10, 2007 08:31 AM (GMT)
I didnt want to make them dull so I just darkened the shirt a bit more.
user posted image
I think it looks pretty nice now, I tried darkening the pants but I didn't like it
so I switched it back to its origonal colours.
I'm gonna work on the whole sheet now, then maybe I can start working on my movie Tempia.

Linken24 - January 10, 2007 02:58 PM (GMT)
I'm thinking you need a bit of a Linken-Make-Over. >> I'll whip something up. Nothing TOO ahead of your style, and nothing too complicated. Just something a bit more... demonic, if you would. And more bad ass. :3

Betatronic - January 10, 2007 06:25 PM (GMT)
That's far too many colors, Linken. More colors does not equal better.

Linken24 - January 10, 2007 10:06 PM (GMT)
It's the same number of colors as before. O_o I just made three versions with three different jackets. One the original color, one my shirt color, and the other black. Other than that, I edited the pants, gave them a new color, and gave him slightly more hair in the back. Before it looked like he just cut off Kenshin's pony tail... which he did. >_>

DarkCaster - January 11, 2007 02:42 AM (GMT)
Hmmm, looks pretty nice but I prefer my origonal one, the hair acctually
looks like mine in real life, as for the colours(haha I spell it differently :P) I prefer it to be dark blue.
To my friends I'm known as the blue mage (look at avatar and sig for proof) and
to my classmates I'm known as the blue retard :(

I think its quite a good change.
THANKS BEATRONIC AND CREEPY AND ALL

Neverstorm - January 18, 2007 10:48 AM (GMT)
Is it just me or do the trousers need better shading? Cause it looks disrupted to me.

Also, in one of those running sprites, the hilt of your sword glows. Like, bright and stuff.

That's his hand.

DarkCaster - January 19, 2007 11:25 AM (GMT)
Its actually the hand thats glowing.
I looked through my sprites and I erased the hand on the first
sprite a bit too much and now you can see the hilt more, thats whats causing the flash effect.

I'll work on that the on the next chance I get

If you have an issue with his sprite, why not try doing an example for him.

That's what you're SUPPOSED to be doing here...
