Title: Garfield The Movie
Description: It's all about Me-ow!

Sorry if this is in the wrong place but I thought that this is where it belonged.

Anyways, the live action Garfield movie is planning to come out this summer. Not only that but the first few trailers are already up on the main website found here.

I know it's probably old news to a lot of people on here, but what are your thoughts on it? I've heard many people say it'll be a disaster. However, I for one can't wait to see it.

It will be the crappiest movie this summer.

I don't need to give a reason why. Just look at it.

Garfield hasn't really been as funny these days as it was a few years back, at least to me, anyway. And I REALLY never expected them to give him his own MOVIE.

I mean...they already screwed up one point: Garfield NEVER talks. He thinks. Somehow or another, his 'telepathy' seems to get through the other animals and strangely enough, Jon himself.

If this doesn't kill Garfield off, I dunno what will.

Grand Master Eastwood - April 11, 2004 11:32 PM (GMT)
It's not a teen romantic comedy, I'll give it that...

- Harold Q. Eastwood, Hollywood has killed his childhood memories.

Shadow the Echidna - April 11, 2004 11:35 PM (GMT)
I can't wait to see it. It looks really funny and it's the first (and only time, I hope) that he talks. I guess everyone has a different opinion for Garfield. -_-

Master Shake - April 11, 2004 11:42 PM (GMT)
Just think: when 'Thunderbirds' comes out and generates a gigantic black hole of suck, we can all look at it and say "At least it's not as bad as that Garfield movie."

Anti Emporer - April 11, 2004 11:48 PM (GMT)
Personally, I'm looking forward to it.

BUT....if its about Odie getting taken to the pound and Garfield has to save him, I will SCREAM.

Aethos - April 11, 2004 11:51 PM (GMT)
If it's just Jon hitting on Liz for two hours I'll scream. I'm hoping there will be some plot to it. After all I'm hoping for it to be just as great as the cartoon was.

Persona - April 11, 2004 11:53 PM (GMT)
I grew up with Garfield as a kid. It's safe to say that he was my first all time favorite cartoon character. Which is why this move mortally terrifies me!

How often have we seen something good turn into an unspeakable nightmare when translated into a move? Remember Super Mario Brothers? I fear the same may happen to Garfield here.

Needless to say, I'm hoping for the best, but preping for the worst.

I loved Garfield comics and I loved to watch the Garfield and Friends show.
Thing is, this movie's not gonna do either any justice.
And they guy voicing Garfield in the movie sounds NOWHERE NEAR Lorenzo Music. (The voice of Garfield in the cartoon.) That alone is what makes it bad.

Which is REALLY funny, actually. That's Bill Murray doing Garfield's voice, which is ironic because Lorenzo Music did the voice for Peter Venkman (Bill Murray's character in Ghostbusters) in the 'Ghostbusters' cartoon.

Shake's got a point, ya know.

Emerald - April 12, 2004 12:17 AM (GMT)
It should have Lyman, Jon's old roommate in it. That guy was funny in the comics.

I've known about this moving coming out for months. o.o;

I may actually enjoy it, I really don't care if he used to speak with 'telepathy' or anything like that. It actually looks pretty funny..

Now Scooby Doo, screwed up.. blegh..

AUGH! Don't get me started on Scooby-Doo.
Never watched it, never have, never will.
At least Nermal won't be in the movie...

Aw, I wanted to see what Nermal looked like in the movie. Oh, well. Garfield was going to send him to somewhere anyway.

Sonics_Sakura - April 12, 2004 12:31 AM (GMT)
NERMAL?! *choke gag die* Most annoying character in the show!

You just know Garfield is going to send Ode to Japan and get it over with.. ¬.¬

The Wise Mankey - April 12, 2004 12:40 AM (GMT)
I thought he'd send them to Abudabe. (Garfield and Friends allusion.)

Aethos - April 13, 2004 05:42 AM (GMT)
heh, he'd never do that to Odie, now Nermal on the other hand...

I'm surprised though that Arlene was NEVER in the cartoon. You would think that she would be since she's the main female feline. Who knows maybe the movie will end up like the comics and hopefully just as funny as the old ones before he became unfunny. If not, I hope at least it'll be as funny as the cartoon was, even without Lorenzo Music, God rest his soul.
