This is old news. We've know about this at the OC ReMix forums for almost 10 months now.
We were joking about killing the crew then doing the movie ourselves XD.
Wraith - April 9, 2004 06:32 PM (GMT)
Well, I certainly hope it lives up to the fame of the past Metroid Games, ESPECIALLY Super Metroid. I love that game so, and let it be known there best be a Ridley in this movie. Or people will burn!!! :tara: :naughty:  :cweepy:
Solid Filip - April 9, 2004 07:59 PM (GMT)
hmm who could play samus....pamela andreson =D or maby cameron ..oh oh i know carmen electra =}
Master Shake - April 9, 2004 09:19 PM (GMT)
Uma Thurman's got the market cornered on 'badass blonde' right now, so I say see should be Samus.
Grand Master Eastwood - April 9, 2004 09:27 PM (GMT)
Super Mario Brothers, Resident Evil, Tomb Raider, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat...
Don't mind me, just bringing up reasons why this film, if ever made, will both suck and blow.
- Harold Q. Eastwood, Maaario?
Death Bringer - April 9, 2004 09:30 PM (GMT)
Hey, Mario, Mortal Kombat and Resident Evil were really good movies. I love Resident Evil... o.o;;; Okay, so sue me, this is coming from a guy who likes "Killer Klowns from Outer Space"!!! I'm sure the Metroid movie'll be alright if they get Samus' badass attitude downpat.
FinalHazard - April 9, 2004 09:31 PM (GMT)
Ridley would be good to have in the movie. Same goes for some cool-lookin' CG-ed Metroids! YAY, METROIDS! *goes back to playing Sonic 2 Aluminum Edition hack for Genesis emulators*

I hear you. I lived through those horrors...so I'm pessimistic about this movie as well....

Granted, while I would've prefered that Ridley Scott had the license, I will forever assume the best when John Woo's directing. Surely the man who made 'Hard Boiled', 'The Killer' and 'Face/Off' can't be in a slump for THAT long...
Bob Bobiam - April 9, 2004 10:19 PM (GMT)
I am VERY excited about this. Granted, it has the chance for it to be utterly WEIRD and off-story like a lot of other video game-movie crossovers, but look at Tomb Raider. That did good. I could see this movie, especially with someone as BIG as JOHN WOO behind it, to be as good as TR or better. It looks QUITE promising. I mean. JOHN WOO. He said he wasts to stick to the game as best as he can too, so it should be great. And they MUST CGI Metroids and Mother Brain. And Ridley. MAN, this movie looks so great. I will be ALL OVER THIS. I mean like, getting the ultimate special edition and crap like that. Even if it DOES turn out to suck, I don't care, it's a METROID MOVIE XD XD
Robert - April 9, 2004 11:14 PM (GMT)
I just hope they don't butcher this movie like they've done to so many others lately... but if it has Ridley and Kraid, I don't care if it's crap or not.

My biggest question is how they will pull this off. I mean, in Metroid, it's a single woman against the entire Space Pirate force. But you can't exactly build a movie without character interaction easily, so will they have to add characters? Or will they make the pirates talk? Will she be talking to some supervisor over a communication system, ala MGS? Flashbacks, maybe?
I don't like all those variables.......

Perhaps the movie starts off with Samus getting her assignment of going to Zebes...

That's true, but none of those were directed by coporate legend John Woo.
That's right. John @#$%ing Woo.
I've got faith that this will be at least bearable, due to Woo's directing experience in conspiracy/sci-fi movies.
NickBEC - April 10, 2004 05:54 PM (GMT)
CGI Metroids are just enough to make me go SQUEEE!!! The article says this talks a bit about Samus' past. So that means she'll probably get character interaction from anyone she's met in the past. Plust Space Pirates might be in it, so Samus might get to interact with them, making for a variaty of cast members.

This sentence alone is enough to make me fear the worst. Hopefully they won't butcher the lisence while introducing the characters, as can so often happen.
I don't need another potential 'Thunderbirds' here.

Meh, I haven't followed a lot of his stuff, but people I've spoken to say his stuff since he went "hollywood" is lackluster. Meh.
I'm more excited at the prospect of the live-action Transformers G1 movie. Mmm, CGI Skywarp... *Fanboy drool*

Yikes. I've been reading about this...I really hope that this movie comes out well. I want to see who Woo casts in this film and who the supporting characters will be...that's the part I fear.

'Hard Boiled' and 'The Killer', should be required viewing for all action movie fans. Go back to his Hong Kong roots and you'll find some of the all-time greatest action movies ever made, movies so good that they changed the entire action genre.
