You could have at least tried to spell Azumanga Daioh correctly. And the idea of a Dragonball title up top is questionable in my view. But thats your choice really.

Anyways, no real order, since these are all good:

> Rurouni Kenshin
> Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (1 and 2)
> Hellsing Ultimate OVA 1
> Gundam Seed
> Azumanga Daioh

sonic500 - March 9, 2006 10:51 AM (GMT)
ok i corected the spelling of Azumanga Daioh.

These are pretty much off the top of my head:

1. "Sexy Commando Gaiden: Sugioyo!! Masarusan", just so brilliantly random I have NEVER laughed so hard at an anime in my life. WANCHU!!! X3

2. "Samurai Champloo" directed by Shinichiro Watenabe (also directed Cowboy Bebop) graphically stunning fight scenes, tons of laughs and how can you not love beat-boxing samurai X3

3. "Cowboy Bebop" such cool characters, awsome fight scenes that has far more realism than those of Dragonball Z which are way too over the top for my tastes ("If they keep raising their power levels they'll destroy the planet"... bleh XP), excellent storyline, beautifully drawn and animated and also pretty funny to boot.

4. "Full Metal Alchemist" obviously.

5. "Elfen Lied" really dark but moving storyline, grusome death scenes with a few bits of pervy humor a good all rounder n_n

Others I enjoy include, Love Hina, Beserk, Di Gi Charat, Azumanga Daioh, Bleach, Chobits, Chrono Crusade, Da Capo, Excel Saga, FLCL, Fruits Basket, Paranoia Agent, Dominion Tank Police, Dragon Half, Kino's Journey, Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi, Trigun, Inuyasha, Mai Hime, Mai Otome, Naruto, Onegai Teacher, Ranma 1/2, Rurouni Kenshin, Shuffle, Tenchi Muyo (and the other Tenchis) and Trinity Blood *gasps for air* *faints* x_x

1: One Piece.
Lovable characters, heart-cringing stories and lots of humour. The filler arcs and somewhat below-standard animation in the earlier episodes is not very good but otherwise great.

2: Akira.
Mysterious story, supreme animation and one of the most expensive animes of it's time.

3: 2X2 Shinobuden.
Mostly because it's my current obsession. It's not THAT great an anime, but it's very cute, charming and funny.

4: Neon Genesis Evangelion.
Three adventures in one. Character development, mechas shooting aliens and gigantic monster-cyborgs ripping eachother apart.

5: Re:Cutey Honey.
Even though my interest have cooled off quite a bit this master-piece directed by Hideako Anno based on Go Nagai's classic ended up as a colorfull, crazy celebration to the 70s with lot of fanservice.

1. Initial-D: Well, I AM a car guy...

2. One Piece: twas pretty good...even the tainted 4Kids version.

3-5. the rest. (i don't watch much anime.)

1: samurai 7, if you haven't seen the show you'll never understand its awesomeness

2: FLCL, if you haven't seen that one than crawl into a pit and die of shame....or just go watch it

3: one piece, HOW can you not love the rubber dude and its fun gang of pirates.

4: cowboy bebop

5: Naruto, i still like the show, but its getting a lil...well....DBZ like. art first the battle's were awesome, then they became awesome with a taint of dbz fighting....then just plain common overrated fighting with too much dialogue.
its a good thing the plot and humor is making it up.
shikamaru is the awesomeness :cweepy:

1. Full Metal Alchemist
In a majority of the cases, the manga's a lot better than the anime is. This is one of those rare occasions in which the anime is better than the Manga. It's essentially the same story at first but the manga and anime begin to split up and offer different variations of the story. In the anime, Scar is much more than just a serial killer, Hoenhein of Light has some-what of a Foil character (Dante), and the Homonculi(sp)-creation theory in the anime makes Izumi Curtis have a bit more to do with the plot other than being Ed and Al's Teacher. Then again though, the manga does have Ling Yao...

2. Ranma 1/2
It's just funny. The best part ever is when Ranma uses that spiral-dragon technique, and sends Happosai, Kuno, the Principal, and Mousse flying and they all land in the same spot.
"Whoa! It's the old man!"
"...Kuno, the principal, and that stupid Mousse."
"It's them all together in one spot at the same time!"
"Only one thing to do guys..."
"...BURY THEM!"

3. Cyborg 009
Another one of those cases where the anime is better than the manga. Manga looks a bit too cartoony (008 looks like a freaking monkey) for an otherwise serious storyline and I like how the storyline revolves around all of the cyborgs and not just the title character.

4. Akira
It's really just the plot that leaves you wondering exactly what happened at the end. that and the fact that this was pretty much what brought people to the attention that animation can't be just for children. It was tweaked from the manga version, in which we actually get to know a little more about the characters and even Akira himself plays a role in the storyline of the Manga.

5. Naruto (Pre-Orochimaru's-arms-getting-pwnt)
We all know that this is a very popular anime. It's certainly not the greatest as the Naruto-fanboys/girls believe, as very irritating Konohamaru/Naruto voice acting and tumor-inducing Sakura really cripple it. Personally I like the secondary characters and the villians better than the main characters, Naruto and Sakura are very annoying and Sasuke is a total jerk-off. Again manga's better than the anime but then again though, the anime has some better fight scenes (Like against that one dude who can shoot his ribs out of his body as spears) and the manga's being published in the U.S. at a snail's pace due to it being in Shonen Jump. Anime really has gone downhill recently, most of the fillers are garbage and it's pace really has slowed down to the point where a few episodes don't progress the plot forward much, like Dragon Ball Z and Yu Yu Hakusho did.

quick comment about scar beeing nothing than a serial killer in the manga.

you couldn't be MORE wrong about that, read ALL of the manga.
then you'd see there is more behind it.

1. VanDread. Mos tpeople usually say that that isn't a typical american fans favorite show though, wich is awkward because it's solid.

2. Hellsing. Again not a typical american fans favorite anime.
hellsing is my favorite vampire anime for many reasons.

3. Outlaw Star (Gene Starwind saga)
One of the best if not THE BEST sci-fi anime out there.
It's a must see anime that i suggest you buy atleast the first ten episodes

4. Cowboy Bepop
Another great sci-fi anime. Cowboy bepob is pretty mainstream so everyone here has probably seen it already. In most cases though the anime IS better than the manga.

5. Azumangah Diaoh
A hilarious comedy anime, with lesbians, cats and Osaka. Seriously what's not to like there? Currently still in production too!
