Be it a poem or rhyme intended for music, you will find the following tips very helpful:
#1-Think about what you want to write about before you start
#2-Inhale and reach deep within your heart for ideas and concepts
#3-Write in the midst of noises of all sorts
#4-Write in the peace of the night and in the tranquil of the wee hours
#5-Listen to talk shows, commercials, etc, while you write
#6-Incorporate scenarios that are within your vicinity to creat a more "real" and concrete feel in your piece.
#7-A poem with 4 hot lines should be 4 lines long
#8-You know when you've written filler material, don't fool yourself trash it immediately
#9-Always go back and edit your piece no matter how tight it appears at first
#10-Cliches only show that you lack creativity and originality, don't use them unless you've completely ran out of things to say.
