Title: The Ærie On Air
Description: That's right! My own radio show!

Marlin ßeta - September 2, 2004 11:38 AM (GMT)
Very soon I could be a DJ hosting my own radio program. You would get to hear my voice as well as listen to soundtracks from Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and The Lord of the Rings. How would this be possible you ask? Well, my college's radio station (WMTU) broadcasts on the internet. Most new computers have a radio tuner built into them to pick up these airwaves, so if you're not sure how to do something, I'll fill you in later. I could start as soon as two weeks if all the paperwork goes through. Keep checking out this topic for more updates. B)

Marlin ßeta - September 2, 2004 06:23 PM (GMT)
Because this is big news, no? I'm certainly excited. :} However, I have no idea what time slot I would get. The program name is actually going to be

The Aerie on Air
with Lord Marlin.

I'm going to have to have some training this weekend and into next week. I'll be sure to give links to the frequency and what part of the day is my two or three hours. I should know my times by Saturday. This should be very fun. Keep checking back. B)

Wind - September 2, 2004 06:24 PM (GMT)

braveknight3000 - September 2, 2004 09:31 PM (GMT)
I don't know if my computer has a radio tuner on it, it can get online stations though. This is going to be great.

Naruto - September 2, 2004 10:20 PM (GMT)
O________O AWESOME!

Flint- Hello? Wake up! ....... *Hits Naruto with his forehead*

craft user - September 2, 2004 11:13 PM (GMT)

Jaken Veina - September 2, 2004 11:27 PM (GMT)
GO AERIE OF THE ROC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is gonna be so sweet. You should have guest appearances of people from the Nest! :D No, seriously, you could organize like a phone conversation or an audio conversation over the internet and record it. That would be incredibly awesome.

Naruto - September 2, 2004 11:28 PM (GMT)
:o Jaken, that idea roxorz! I dunno if he'd be able to do it or not.

marlin you got my pm about the flash movie about the nest right?

Yeah. I got your PM, Wind.

While you guys all have good ideas, I can almost guarentee that I'm not going to get a 5:00 PM timeslot. If you guys want to call the station, it's probably going to be long distance because we don't have an 800 number. But first thing's first. I have to actually get my time slot. However, I have a very good chance of becoming a DJ because of the type of music I'm playing. WMTU likes the greatest variety of music broadcast from its station, which means that a lot of people are going to be wanting to play Rock, Rap, and Heavy Metal. The stuff I want to play is pretty obscure.

I'll let you know when I'm scheduled to play by Saturday. Also keep in mind that I'm probably not going to start DJing for another two weeks.

SuicuneSol - September 3, 2004 01:35 AM (GMT)
So, are you getting paid? :...:

braveknight3000 - September 3, 2004 03:11 AM (GMT)
Does it count as a class? Doubt that he gets paid though.

Marlin ßeta - September 3, 2004 11:19 AM (GMT)

So, are you getting paid? :...:

No. This is actually one of the perks of being on the "Amateur" radio club (that's not right, but I can't remember exactly what it's called). So I neither receive nor give (it's not a class either). B)

Marlin ßeta - September 3, 2004 02:15 PM (GMT)
All right guys! :} I'm going to be a DJ! ^_^ Although, most of you probably won't be able to listen to me. My time slot is Wednesdays, Noon to 2:00 PM. That's a bit of a bummer, :nope: but somebody might drop their time slot because of a confliction and I'm probably going to get a change second semester. I'll let you know which day I'm going to start when it finally comes up.

Somebody please tell me they are going to be able to listen at school for at least a little while. :ninja: :...:

SuicuneSol - September 3, 2004 02:42 PM (GMT)
Well, I guess not...if this starts next week though I might be able to listen to you, once. Other than that, it is my school time.

Hey wait a minute! That also means we'll know what you sound like!

Wind - September 3, 2004 03:34 PM (GMT)
hmm 2:00 on wednesday eh? well it depends what the time difference is i guess. I mean i can probably whatch it if i find out how to get the radio tuner. But, in other news i hate my old shoes. And i have crictally low batteries so i cant play fire emblem!!!

felix777 - September 3, 2004 03:52 PM (GMT)
yep im playin gs over again and my batteries are lowso im doin the ol switcharoo outta remotes and stuff!!!

But dude id like to hear marlin thatd be sweeeet!!!

Gust- hmmm we can record his voice and tweak it and then make it sound like the presidents voice soo

Zephry- we could rule the world!!!!!

Kaede - September 3, 2004 03:59 PM (GMT)
urm... hmm. where do you do this DJ thing Marlin? i mean, like, where in America? so i know what the time difference is.

-_- probly wouldnt make a difference anyway. my computer is old.

Jaken Veina - September 3, 2004 04:25 PM (GMT)
Noon to two? DANG! Is there any way I could record it or you could record it and post it on the Aerie's site? I have a free period for like 25 minutes somwhere in that time peroid, but I doin't know if I'm allowed to listen to music.

Edit: Darn! I'm supposed to find a way to do it withyout botherng people.....is that even possible? Of course, right now, I'm in the library....maybe I could ask the guy in the computer lab.

Hawk - September 3, 2004 04:30 PM (GMT)
is it a fm radio station?
Because people in other countries wont be able to hear you. :nope:

Wind - September 3, 2004 04:50 PM (GMT)
ok all of you tend to forget its over the intertnet! probably evreyone can hear it!

Naruto - September 3, 2004 09:23 PM (GMT)
Gosh darned monkeys! That's when I'm havin classes I can't get to the radio on.

Can you post it on the site? The recorded thing?

Jaken Veina - September 3, 2004 09:40 PM (GMT)
Yeah, same here. I think everyone would like that.

Kaede - September 3, 2004 10:54 PM (GMT)
^_^ yeah, that would be good. for all, i mean.

braveknight3000 - September 4, 2004 12:50 AM (GMT)
What is the station called?

Marlin ßeta - September 4, 2004 03:28 AM (GMT)
Well, lets see. I can definitely record it, but as for uploading two hours of radio, that is out of the question. The broadcast might also be copyrighted by WMTU (the station) so a rebroadcast would have to be approved. I'm not sure how that would work at this point. I'll look into reproducing my speaking segments at least. My show will start on Sept 15. I'm in Eastern Standard Time (EST) so make your time adjustments from there. I can still try to get a different time slot but I don't know how difficult that will be. I'll post more info as it comes.

SuicuneSol - September 4, 2004 04:02 AM (GMT)
So...what does that mean for me?

Marlin ßeta - September 4, 2004 04:10 AM (GMT)
It means that you will probably get to hear my voice, but it won't be live. Unless you can tune in at Noon to two on Wednesdays you're pretty much out of luck.

What time zone is everybody in? Pacific coasters would hear my show from 8:00 to 10:00 AM. Just to put things in prospective.

SuicuneSol - September 4, 2004 05:27 AM (GMT)
Ah...darn still not in my free time range.

God of the Black Flame: Canti - September 4, 2004 05:37 AM (GMT)
Erm.... I live in the eastern time zone, and I don't even get home until 3, so I won't be able to hear the live broadcast. Although, you know, I probably wouldn't listen much anyway, I don't much care for video game music... But I would tune in to see what you have to say and stuff. :P So if you can save the parts of you talking, that'd be great.

Kaede - September 4, 2004 01:19 PM (GMT)
;) urm... i go by GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) so that would make it about 7 for us lot... so... that should be alright.

^_^ welcome back, Canti.

Marlin ßeta - September 4, 2004 01:40 PM (GMT)
I'm sorry to hear that guys. Hmmm. Would a latenight show be good? Say, 1:00 AM to 3:00 AM? It is probably going to be very difficult for me to get a primetime slot. If you guys could give me some times you could tune in, let me know. I'll keep my eyes open for a better time slot. B)

Jaken Veina - September 4, 2004 02:04 PM (GMT)
I get home from school about 4 or 4:30 Central Time on a normal day.
Wait, do you know if there would be any way for us to record it on our own computers? I could set it up to record and listne when I get home.....

Marlin ßeta - September 4, 2004 02:06 PM (GMT)
I've never tried to do anything like that. Sorry, Jaken. But I have no idea how that would work.
