I don't think so. I believe you will either play as Alex, or descendants of the original 8.

I also doubt that will happen, but it is a pretty plausable idea......

Actually, plot idea:

Alex is alive. He comes back and revives Saturos, telling him of a Mystical Weapon ™ that will defeat Isaac and co [or their descendants... whichever]. Saturos fetches the weapon, only to be killed by Alex, who will than morph into an angel form and attempt to destroy the world using said weapon.

Then the heros will show up but they'll be too late. Cue flashy FMV of world going BOOM! and Alex laughing manically before going to Hell, which he becomes the Evil Overlord of.

Whatever, I still don't thing you should play as Alex. He is pretty cool, but He's a bad guy whom you just don't ever control. Besides, super amazing-power Sheba from 1+i is twice as sweet. She poisons yogurt!

im going with Silver's idea. reawaking Saturos... playing as a bad guy... has potential.
