Title: Topic Warning (All active members please read)
Lor - October 22, 2008 05:51 PM (GMT)
Recently, there has been some bot activity on this forum. The bots register and post topics with pornographic images and links. If any of these new topics are made, please contact someone who can delete the topics. Here's a list of people you should try and message if it should happen again.

Zaber

Marlin

Suicune

That's more or less the order of most active to least active, in terms of being online and at the computer.
Sui-kun - October 23, 2008 05:28 PM (GMT)
Actually, boys and girls, you may contact me at suicunesol@ani-pock.net. I check my other inbox less frequently.

>.> I'm a mod too ya know. I deleted like, 20 of these topics a few weeks ago.
godoftheblackflame@yahoo.com (and thats for email, not for MSN)
AIM - mufinz (but i'm usually not on AIM)
Although I suppose since I'm like, never on AIM and you would have to wait for me to check my email, I'm like, the least favorable option for contact... But nonetheless.

Shouldn't we just use the report button? It's more faster... emails all the mods at once...
Marlin Beta - November 22, 2008 05:44 AM (GMT)
I've changed some of the registration settings for The Roc's Nest. New users will have to jump through more hoops in order to join the forum, but it should really cut down the number of bots.
If the problem continues, I'm going to limit new user registration to admin approved users only. I'm hoping I won't have to resort to that.
The Nest isn't really that active anymore, but it contains a lot of our legacy, so I'd like to keep it running for as long as I can. ^_^
Swordmaster - November 22, 2008 06:35 PM (GMT)
Amen to that Marlin-sama!
We gotta keep the nest goin' as long as possible. It has the history of what... five... six years?
I'll be sure to keep a lookout for such topics.
God of the Black Flame: Canti - November 24, 2008 04:01 AM (GMT)
They're easy to spot. The topic titles don't make any sense, and you wouldn't recognize the member name.
And the report button is probably the best option, actually.

Cool. ^_^

Well, my registration restrictions cut down the number of bogus registrations, but not enough.
From this day forward, new registrations will only be able to join with approval from an admin.

You may want to consider changing this now that gs3 is coming. We don't want to keep new members out.
Lor - June 8, 2009 04:13 AM (GMT)
I took it off. If we get any problems again like with the bots, I'll put on email validation.

That reply is quite funny to me considering that it took you over a year and a half to make it.

I see the humor, but!
Online and at the computer =/= online and at the computer reading updates section
