I've recently been thinking that the Roc's Nest is becoming very big with all of these different forums flying around. And by big, I mean that it takes a decent amount of time to scroll down the main page. I was thinking of rearranging the forums to create more subforums within the site. It would be something along the lines of all the GS forums going into one forum, all the Fire Emblem forums going into one and then misc other games (which might include new subforums like Final Fantasy and Ragnarok Online). I want to start hearing opinions about this before I do any more planning. How does everyone feel about this? B)

Um... well, that does actually seem like an okay idea. But then when (er, if) you do it, it's gonna be more of a hassle to get to sections. It's like how I occasionally try to reorganize stuff in my documents. I organize it, but it gets annoying fast, because I'm used to the old unorganized version. But I guess I wouldn't mind so much. I say.... go for it.

Yes, I been thinking about your layout too. They did that in FEPlanet. I think you should do it too. But please try not to overdo it when adding new forums. I mean you shouldn't add so many sections for so many games. I think you should only have seperate forums for games we're going to cover, or keep an eye on.

Anyway ya it sounds ok to me personally though i like showing everything and all that but making some cuts in places could help. It would make the board alot smaller so ya go for it

Well, scrolling down the main page... you could make the layout more concise if you didn't have all eight GS forums on the front page in those two sets of four, but I don't think I'd want them reduced to one either like the other games (as it seems like a good idea for FE etc) - Golden Sun is special. :heart: Maybe if you melded them into one block of four forums for GS I&II, that'd still save space? After all, people talk about them together often enough.

I believe Marlin would probaby give GS I and II their own separate forum, with the 4 subforums for each inside.

Oh, um, Marlin, if you go through with this... I think it might be better to keep the Upper Hallways subsections exposed...

ya we really need a FF section! i agree 112% and maybe a section for online games in general? and golden sun 1 and 2 should be in different subforums.

But, Online Games are nowhere NEAR Marlin's style. He doesn't play 'em.

I personally don't want a forum for them.

And I REALLY don't want a final fantasy section. If you want to talk about FF, go to an FF forum!

I never said that I won't. I just heard somebody say that they didn't want one. '_' I'm not opposed to it either way, so I guess I'll include that section as well. B)

New thought:

So now that the new layout has been around for a week or so, what does everyone think of it? Was the old layout better? There doesn't seem to be as much posting in the gaming forums anymore. :sad:

True... because the sections aren't all as easily accessible. But that's what was gonna happen. I think people may have just not been present as much in the past week though. I don't mind the new layout, I didn't post in the GS sections much anymore anyway, and the corridor of swords is fine to me. (flames i don't worry about much...) So, all in all, I think the new layout is fine.

yeah like Canti said i think its fine just give it a bit more time for people to come back and such and adjust to the new layout

Sounds alot neater Marlin, so that's what has happened at the moment or did you make some slight changes?

I'm thinking that the changes I made to the forums' organization and layout were not a good thing. People aren't replying to topics at all. I think I'll switch it back to the way it was. :(

People weren't really responding to topics in the lower sections before either. I think its much better like this.

Well, I'm new and have only ever seen it this way, whatever that might be, old or new? Well anyway, I think that it's easy enough to find everything. I like this layout and say that it should stay.

I would post just the same no matter what, do what you wish, Marlin.

Yeah. I've just decided to leave it. The subforums are starting to get replies now. That's a good thing. Thanks for your input everyone. B)
