Well, you start out in the original with the name Isaac/Robin screen (his Japaneese Name is Robin...) and then it begins with Dora, Isaac's mother, waking you up because the boulder (rock) is about to fall off the mountain. You must go north even though you're mother tells you to go south. Actually. I'll just make a walkthrough thread! You can look there for info on the game.
eliwoodmaster - July 17, 2005 10:53 PM (GMT)
that's cool. so a what is the main idea of the sieres
Fire Emblem Freak - July 17, 2005 11:14 PM (GMT)
Well, in GS1, you have to stop the bad guys, saturos and menardi, from lighting the elemental lighthouses and unleashing alechemy upon the world, and take the elemental stars back, but what I think is funny, is that in gs2, you're trying to light the lighthouses, and the team from gs1, who was trying to prevent it, helps light the mars lighthouse, which is the final lighthouse. it is really cool! i like it so much! And there are all these different magic powers that you use in battle, and what's cool, you don't have a movement range, like in fire emblem, you cn move as far as you want! And the enemies that you face, they're random encounter. The battles are turnbased, like with agility. This guy attacks first, this guy second, the enemy will attack after that, and then thse two characters have the same agility, so it'll be random! It's neat. Even though it's nothing like fe, some things are alike.
Like, THEY TALK A LOT! It gives you useful info, but...you can't skip it. so you gotta smash a and b all the time.
The battles are turnbased, but not moving. It's just attacking. You don't get second turns because you're faster though.
But other than that, it's really different, but fun. There are certain items that you can get that increase stuff like agility, luck, defense, attack, etc. And there are certain items that have critical hits, and when you get a critical hit, it's really effective.
There are four basic elements that you use in battle, each one has a strength and a weakness. Water is good against fire. Fire is good against earth, earth is good against wind, and wind is good against water. But sometimes they'll turn it around, and fire will be good against wayer, wind will be good aganst earth, earth will be good against water and so on. So it's pretty hard. If you look carefullly at the text at the bottom of a battle screen, it'll show you when you see three (3) exclamation points (!) in a row after the damage you/the enemy takes. Then you its/his/her weakness. It's really cool. you should buy it. It sells at toys r us in the video game section. I would consider getting the first game first. Then after you beat that you should get the second one, that way, you can transfer data and have your secondary party (team) at the strength and stats they had, like attack, level, djinn (mystical elemental creatures used in battle), defense, items, etc. It's a really fun game, but it takes time to learn...There's no tutorial except for about djinn, near the beginning of the game. Note: Djinn is pronounced jin.

And how was this information acquired?

ZaberTheAlmighty are u gonna help me learn golden sun or not
ZaberTheAlmighty - July 18, 2005 01:56 AM (GMT)
Golden Sun... not much to say.
Everything is made of the four elements, earth, water, wind, fire. Sometimes one is born who can control one of these elements... these controllers are called adepts, and they wield the power of alchemy.
Djinn were freed from Mt. Aleph, and they correspond to each adept's element. They amplify the adept's powers, and if used, go to standby, where they can be summoned for a greater attack. More djinni on standby means more summoning power. Into GS2, you can find tablets that allow you to mix and match djinn to summon.
Djinni is singular. Djinn is plural.
The four lighthouses... if they are lit, the Golden Sun will descend upon Mt. Aleph, granting anyone who is standing at the peak, great alchemic power. That can either bring great good, or great disaster.
The main character rarely says anything. In GS, Isaac says nothing. In GS2 he can't keep his mouth shut. Same goes for Felix. In GS2, his only line during game play is "Why?"
Battle system is indeed turn based, and you attack in order of agility. Note, the monster's agility is also taken into effect.
Ignore what FEF said about elements. Fire and Water are effective against each other, as well as Wind and Earth.
Weapons and Armor are very important. Good armor will increase defense, as well as good weapons increase attack. Some people can't equip certain items, though. Like Ivan is around the youngest, so he uses staffs and short swords, while Isaac and Garet use anything but staffs.
What element you are decides your skill. Isaac is earth. He has earth based psynergy (psynergy is the useable form of alchemy) and equipping earth djinn increases that power. Granted, you can mix and match djinn to change your class. Your class is what really decides your skills.
Water adepts are healers armed with water and ice, while Wind adepts can usually upgrade you.
Djinn have certain perks to using them. Special attacks, one might say. Anything from attacking with an ally, putting a barrier around the party, to throwing a giant ball of earth at the oppenent.
If you need the story line, that may take a bit. But I can say mine will be more informative than FEFs.
eliwoodmaster - July 18, 2005 02:05 AM (GMT)
o.k i want to hear both oh ur versions of the story line
ZaberTheAlmighty - July 18, 2005 02:32 AM (GMT)
Meh... He's already said his, if you checked.
Okay, I'm not writing out the prologue and both books. And right now, I'm not in the mood to even type events.
Basically, through GS, you're attempting to stop the Lighthouses from being lit. Saturos, Menardi, and Alex (plus some others) are getting in your way of that. Through certain events, you assemble a team of 1 adept of each element. You're then chasing their group all over the continent. Oddly enough, you have one of the elemental stars they need to light the final lighthouse.
In GS2, you switch play to the opposing team (minus Saturos and Menardi, plus Karst and Agatio.) and force Isaac's team to realize that lighting the lighthouses is a better idea than not lighting them. But long before that, you must make preparations to leave the Eastern Sea, for the remaining Lighthouses are on the western. That's half the game in itself.
Maybe later I could write out the prologue... You really must pick up a copy.

i have no money i still need to get payed but the second i have money i'll buy it plus sacred stones
windseer1986 - July 18, 2005 04:07 AM (GMT)
you should buy GS1 first, or you will miss out on a lot of stuff in the second, like the best summons and a secret dungeon and some other items. Plus it was a good game. Sacred stones is pretty good too, but I would definitely buy gs1 before gs2.

God of the Black Flame: Canti - July 18, 2005 05:42 PM (GMT)
Good luck finding that. It's old, and it's for PS1. But eBay's a good place to start. Another RPG I'd reccomend... Super Mario RPG. Also old, for SNES. Okay, okay, how about Sword of Mana?
Fire Emblem Freak - July 18, 2005 08:08 PM (GMT)
Amazing! I have all of those games exceot for sword of Mana! And GS, GS2, FE, FE2, am going to get FE3, and so on...
eliwoodmaster - July 20, 2005 05:40 AM (GMT)
man hasn;t anyone heard of tactics ogre or ogre battle
...perhaps - July 20, 2005 02:28 PM (GMT)
I played Ogre Battle 64. Actually, I shared a save with my brothers, although I was the only one who played from a certain point until the end. The end was really dumb by the way. It was just bad... and doomful... I wonder if there might be multiple endings...
Anyway, this is going off topic. I dunno what else to tell you about Golden Sun though...
eliwoodmaster - July 20, 2005 11:49 PM (GMT)
well thats just talk about ogre battle 64
and yes there are multipole endings
windseer1986 - July 21, 2005 02:35 AM (GMT)
Another VERY good RPG is Chrono Trigger for SNES. And Breath of Fire 1 for SNES was great too.

That would change things. It would restore some respect for the game I lost after beating it. I can't imagine what I did to earn the ending I did though. Maybe it was because I made sure my characters got as much experience as possible by killing every unit on every map. If I left guys alone after they were leaderless, that might change what all the NPC's thought of "Cagnus," as we named the main character. I might even have to replay it some day...
eliwoodmaster - July 21, 2005 09:28 PM (GMT)
it doesn't matter if u kill all the guys i have played through the game some 20 times but i have only ever gotten two endings but oh well and my main charactor i named eliwood on my newest file
...perhaps - July 23, 2005 03:05 PM (GMT)
Well then what does affect the end? Surely it can't be about what path you take? There's no logical way that could make the difference between whether everyone tells Cagnus, "All you care about is winning battles!" Did you ever get that one? Or perhaps that part doesn't change, and only the final scene does?
eliwoodmaster - July 23, 2005 07:20 PM (GMT)
it all depends on what characters u have and what path u take like the very first sceane were the hero (magnus) and dio first meat and then dio challenges magnus for leader ship that well afect the story line if u choice o.k i'll fight you u'll get a little different ending
ZaberTheAlmighty - July 26, 2005 12:21 AM (GMT)
Is that the game where you choose between Earth, Fire, Wind, and Water at the beginning?
...perhaps - July 26, 2005 03:19 PM (GMT)
Yes, that does happen, at the end of your choices at the beginning. I wouldn't remember, though, if I hadn't started a new game yesterday. In fact, I don't think I'd even seen that part of the game before. I named my battalion 3*7 > 6+2 by the way. It was goinig to be Peghi Quorp, but my little brother convinced me to use the inequality.
eliwoodmaster - July 26, 2005 09:11 PM (GMT)
the elements in ogre battle are fire wind fire earth bane(darkness) and virtue(lawful or order) and yes that is the game were u pick at the begging what element u start with
...perhaps - July 27, 2005 12:59 PM (GMT)
To anyone who can't figure this out alone, water replaces one fire in that list. Musta been a little mistake...
Eliwood, it occurred to me to ask you, how exactly do you know what does and doesn't affect what end you get? What's your source? You'd have to do some very difficult experiments to find out for certain on your own. Perhaps you read about it online or in a gamers' magazine?
eliwoodmaster - August 12, 2005 03:50 AM (GMT)
i had for major sorses google, gamer magazines, starting multiple games and trying to get as many chaos frame points as possible (chaos frame are the points u get for captureing strongholds and killing enemys of higher levels and lower level
