Title: Some info on FESS
Description: Just what I ws looking for in FE!

windseer1986 - April 27, 2005 05:06 PM (GMT)
Wow, this game looks much better than I though it would be. It has the one thing that I wished they had put into FE7

there is now a map, and you can go to some places for random encounters(stores/buildings/arenas don't stay though)
there is also a secret shop that sells stat boosters, and ENEMIES DROP GOLD
so you aren't limited to the crappy amount that you get in FE7(at least without arenas its crappy) also, it seems that some characters can promote into different classes, so you don't end up with the same thing every time.

I really want this game now :)

Swordmaster - May 7, 2005 03:37 AM (GMT)
yes! *builds an unstoppable army* MWHAHAHAH!

windseer1986 - May 11, 2005 09:19 PM (GMT)
Okay, less than two weeks before this game hits stores B)
I just hope I can order it online.

Swordmaster - May 13, 2005 11:05 PM (GMT)
May 20 something.

SuicuneSol - May 13, 2005 11:33 PM (GMT)
I'm disappointed with this game, but I'm still getting it.
Reasons I'm disappointed are this:

--It's shorter than FE7. 10 chapters shorter.
--Random Battles. Do you have any idea what that means? In FE7, there was almost infinite diversity in terms of your units. When your unit would grow, it would gain stats randomly. And when your unit reached the end of the line, the last level that is, it would generally have high stats in a certain random stat.
Here, I THINK you can do the same. The only problem is, is that the replay value will drop dramatically. In one save file, you can max all of your units just by fighting with wild monsters. They'ed all be level 20. And since they are all level 20, there would be no need to start another game to have a certain new team and level up units that weren't leveled up before.
It takes away too many boundaries.

But to truly judge the game, I'll have to play it myself. I can't wait till it comes out!

Swordmaster - May 14, 2005 03:51 AM (GMT)
yeah, the supports would add replay value as well as storyline value and it comes out May 23

windseer1986 - May 14, 2005 07:14 PM (GMT)
it ships may 23, and should be in stores may 24.
and a bunch of the chapters in fe7 were just the tutorial mode, there has been a lot of discussion on gamefaqs about this, and the games are about the same number of chapters. I like being able to train in random battles because then if one of your units is underleveled you don't have to start everything over for them to be good. It also means no restarting because of overusing marcus-type characters, which is good for new players.

Swordmaster - May 15, 2005 03:14 AM (GMT)
hahahah, yes my friend that will be helpful.

windseer1986 - May 15, 2005 03:09 PM (GMT)
I still can't believe I used marcus my first playthrough. I felt so stupid once I realised I had to restart the game because everyone was underleveled. #-_-

Swordmaster - May 16, 2005 12:07 AM (GMT)
I made the same mistake but corrected it before it was too late...

windseer1986 - May 16, 2005 03:45 AM (GMT)
I think the thing that sucked themost about that first playthrough was that my lords died a few times early on, so I thought they were weak and I kept them away from enemies, and they were like level 8 or 9 unpromoted really late in the game. I couldnt even use the heaven seals. My second time through I trained them more than my other units and they killed everything.

Swordmaster - May 16, 2005 11:14 PM (GMT)
Eliwood is the most balanced but he needs a good defensive thing like Hector or a speed thing to enable him to avoid most things. he has average all round stats.

windseer1986 - May 17, 2005 01:15 AM (GMT)
I liked eliwood in the early chapters, before I wore out his first rapier...I hope the lords in this game have good weapons like that. I prefer fast, accurate weapons with high critical over raw power. B)

Swordmaster - May 17, 2005 11:53 AM (GMT)
the girl has a Rapier...

windseer1986 - May 17, 2005 06:34 PM (GMT)

I'm not sure if I'm going to buy it yet...I only have a little spending money right now, and its friggin impossible to find a job in this stupid town.

Swordmaster - May 24, 2005 08:59 PM (GMT)
I just bought it...

windseer1986 - May 25, 2005 10:39 PM (GMT)
Is it good? I should get it sometime, but I want to save what little money I have right now u_u

SuicuneSol - May 25, 2005 11:22 PM (GMT)
Hey wait! That means its out right now!! *runs to gamestop*

Swordmaster - May 26, 2005 03:27 AM (GMT)
just train the lords... they will pawn you all!!!!!

windseer1986 - May 26, 2005 11:45 AM (GMT)
Don't you get to pick one lord to start with, and you get the other one later on? If so, I will pick the girl...I like rapiers better than lances.

Swordmaster - May 26, 2005 08:02 PM (GMT)
Ephriam is the coolest, he can anihilate a whole army with a lance and a couple of vulneraries.

windseer1986 - June 4, 2005 07:39 AM (GMT)
Im playing the coughromcough for now, to hold me off until I can buy it....its so awesome! Lute is the best! I made her a mage knight. She took out Selena(who had like 17 resistance) In 3 fire spells, and killed 90% of the units in that chapter while only getting hit 2 or 3 times.

Aquila - June 4, 2005 01:35 PM (GMT)
I have the game as well. It's a lot of fun. And since I started out doing Normal Mode, I have not lost even one character yet. That will probably change when I do Hard Mode though.

I have not used Lute, but I am using Ewan as a Sage. I got his support up to "A" with Saleh and now whenever they are near each other their critical hit rates goes up into the 20's without any critical hit boosting weapons.

I also have Joshua as a Swordsmaster and Marisa as an Assassin. Both are extremely good units.

My most lethal unit though is Colm as a Rogue, he dodges almost everything thrown at him, and what he does not dodge, he usually takes pretty well because of his surprisingly high defence. If I gave him a Lancereaver and some Elixiers then he could probably kill everyone in a chapter by himself.

windseer1986 - June 4, 2005 06:19 PM (GMT)
I made my ewan a druid, since I want to make knoll a summoner later on. Hes pretty good. I also made ross a berserker, and I'm getting him a support with lute, since they always seem to end up near each other. Their C support was great..."is this maniac talking to me?"

God of the Black Flame: Canti - June 6, 2005 01:31 PM (GMT)
Uh, I got it on friday. I haven't been able to play much yet though, only on chapter 5. I've been very busy. But today I'm not busy, so I'll be playing it quite a bit.

Swordmaster - June 13, 2005 02:32 AM (GMT)
beat the game... LYON SHOULDN'T DIE!!!!!

you can get him after the game by beating the ruins 3 times.

SuicuneSol - June 13, 2005 03:37 AM (GMT)
Swordmaster, would you keep "it" closed? You're ruining it for me. I'll pretend I didn't hear you say...wait what did you say about Lyon? o_o?

Yes, so until I beat the game, please try as much as possible to not reveal anything. And maybe I'll spare your account.

*Remember, I'm only kidding. About the account that is.*

REMEMBER TO BE HAPPY SWORDMASTER!!!!!! :D :D :D

So, I've lost Ross already in my game. I was so angry with myself when I did. But now I know what to expect from them: they're weak children. So I didn't train the trainees at all.

I also lost Larchel. I was so angry when I did. But I got so far through the chapter, I couldn't bear to restart it again.

And I lost Vanessa a while back too. I was so angry when did. But I too had gotten so far through a chapter, I couldn't bear to restart.

Koji - June 13, 2005 04:31 AM (GMT)
I beat it also. It's such a good game!^^

I also lost a few people. I lost Gilliam trying to get Joshua. Once I got him, I didn't want to restart, so yeah...
I trained 2 of my trainees, Yuan (Ewan) and Ameila. They were pretty good once promoting them once.

Marlin ßeta - June 13, 2005 09:53 AM (GMT)
I haven't bought it yet, but I don't give a rip about spoilers. ^_^ Boy, there's a lot of games I need to play right now.

But everyone's little exploits and adventures mentioned here is a little interesting. B)

You shouldn't underestimate them. I know from experience that Ewan can become an amazing unit and I have little doubt that the other two can become good units as well. Actually, in my game, it was Ewan who dealt the finishing blow against the final boss with Excalibur.

BTW, I have beaten the game as well, without losing any units. I was playing Normal Mode though, so the fact that I did it is not too surprising.

Swordmaster - June 14, 2005 12:55 AM (GMT)
trainees are the most powerful in the game, as in journeymen, pupils, and trainees. They start off bad but they're the best in the game. and Ross is a berserker for me, Ewan is a Druid, and Amelia ended up being an incredible general. you should train them. also it'd be good if you trained Joshua.

now for some spoilers....

PRINCE JOSHUA!!!
Lyon DIES...
you can get people like King Hayden and Fado.
The last level of the ruins holds 10 draco zombies.
the king of Grado was brought back from the dead by Lyon.

Fire Emblem Freak - July 16, 2005 02:48 PM (GMT)
