Okay so i decided to try the newest distro... meh it's ubuntu ...
but im having issued with GRUB2 ... on my old laptop... it doesn't boot unless i edit part of the GRUB menu ... i can't for the life of me find the file i need to permanently fix this... it's annoying and also keeps the thing from botting back up after it goes to "sleep".
and when i installed it on a partition on my new laptop with Win7... i get to GRUB but it doesn't load at all ... :( ... i can get win7 up but not Ubuntu ...
after a couple of weeks trying off and on to get it to work i think im just going to give up on ubuntu and try out something else ...
it's probably just that i don't know squat about GRUB 2 so i can go in and fix these things.
--------------------------
just random today i guess... i seriously have nothing to "work" on... there's lots of stuff i can do but it's not fun actual work stuff...
i should have brought my laptop to work and tried to fix my issues on it today lol
--------------------
my job rocks i was just told to go home and log in ... if im needed they will call me into the office... most likely i can do anything they ask from home though ...
Don't give up on Ubuntu!
I had the same problem with GRUB. unfortunately, as with most Linux issues, the way I fixed it is long lost to the world. I remmebr editing my grub file by hand, but I can't specifically find the lines I added at present. Apologies, but I just wanted to let you know that there's hope! I have the last release of Kubuntu on my win7 computer, so unless something fundamental changed, which I doubt, it should be the same. I'll keep checking.
EDIT:
Also, thanks for being 20x more awesome than the rest of America and using a real operating system. You're cool as hell.
