I disagree with your assessment. Our leadership is exactly who we want in power. Presentable enough so they're not too embarassing and inept enough so that they can't work together long enough to cause problems for us.
The issue is that they have too much money/power.
The ideal government, IMHO, is one where the federal gov't leaves everyone the hell alone and is just dumb enough to not be able to get momentum going for too many wasteful projects. I prefer them inept, actually, but also impotent.
It's just that ineptitude plus power is a bad combination.
