Title: V...
Description: anybody gonna watch?
Archerec - November 3, 2009 10:36 PM (GMT)
I am going to put it on the TV at my office and use it as background noise. I watched the original this past Sunday on SyFy. It is a decent story.
There is a lot of
discussion about political allegory with this series, eg "Aliens come to deliver hope and change" blah blah. But we must remember, this show came out in the 80s when Reagan was president.
What do you think?
Quickling - November 3, 2009 10:53 PM (GMT)
I watched it when I was young. I think this is yet another example of writers focusing on bringing back the past rather than thinking of new ideas.
Chemical X - November 3, 2009 11:09 PM (GMT)
I try not to compare shows to current events, I do note the hope/change/peace angle but aside from that its a pretty decent series. I am hype about the new series.
This fall is going to be pretty good for SCI FI.
Fringe
Heros
V
SGU
Perhaps Heros inst pure scifi but I think it straddles the line just fine. And if they can put wrestling on syfy then heros fits as well.

well, considering that the original series was not all that to begin with, I do not have high hopes for the remake.

Doc is smokin'. You know what else was hot? The "student" costume two episodes ago.
I think they made Echo a flaming militant liberal vegan animal rights tw@tface specifically so that I had to hate her on principle.
November/Melanie/Madeline is the best character. There are three flowers in a vase... B)
cockerpunk - November 4, 2009 04:31 PM (GMT)
no, amy ackers story line at the beginning of this season was the best story line in the whole show. titillating and fascinating, a good combination.
hell, every women on that show is super hot. yeah, even Dewitt (who is played by the youngest cast member BTW), i would certainly hit that.
Jeffy-CanCon - November 4, 2009 05:34 PM (GMT)
I caught the first episode. It was pretty good.
Morena Baccarin is even hotter as Anna than she was as Inara, IMO.
Beefotron - November 4, 2009 07:14 PM (GMT)
Morena Baccarin is Class-A hotness, but the short hair kills it. Turns her from a 10 to a 6. Hate short hair. Worst thing a woman can have.

I was about to say "Worse than a penis?"...but then I realized who I was talking to.
TrojanMan - November 4, 2009 07:46 PM (GMT)
Then she wouldn't be a woman, would she?
Murf, let's not start this again. You're wrong about short hair. Just accept it.
Murf the Elder - November 4, 2009 07:51 PM (GMT)
You just still don't get it. :P
Good

Bad

HORRIBLE

Hair is like boobs; none is bad...too much is worse...the happy medium is just right.
Just depends on what you consider "short". To me, shoulder-length is definitely not "short".
Jeffy-CanCon - November 4, 2009 08:56 PM (GMT)
Worthless, Murf.
You'd have to show the same woman with three different hairstyles.
And TM is right, as usual.
/ Just noticed: Murf and Beef share the same opinion?!

Not according to Ted.

Beefotron - November 5, 2009 01:38 AM (GMT)
I...I think Murf and I agree on something not paintball related...Those hair pictures and descriptors were dead-on.
Quickling - November 5, 2009 03:48 AM (GMT)
You guys go ahead and be picky, I ain't kick'n any of them out for bed for eating cookies.... or my gf for that matter.
cockerpunk - November 5, 2009 03:50 AM (GMT)
as long as there is enough to hold when bangin' em i dont really care.
and that goes for boobs and hair.

turbo chicken - November 9, 2009 08:20 PM (GMT)
i just watched the first episode
i like it... not sure others will though ... kind of like invasion that was on a few years ago
Bored383 - November 11, 2009 05:43 AM (GMT)
okay - I watched the first 2 episodes tonight. I liked it, it was better than I expected.
I am more interested in AMC's new 'the prisoner' series, since I am a big fan of the original series. hopefully it will not disappoint
Archerec - November 11, 2009 02:26 PM (GMT)
Anybody know of where to find the second episode online?

Yes, though they have not yet showed them chowing down.
Chemical X - November 12, 2009 10:45 PM (GMT)
Dang, I cant believe I missed the launch of the series.
Murf the Elder - November 13, 2009 03:28 PM (GMT)
After the first two weeks, I am really enjoying it...though the political overtones are pretty freaky*.
Is this going to be based on that old Twilight Zone episode where the alien writings the humans interpreted to include "to serve humanity" (which made them think the aliens were friendly) turned out to be a cookbook?
*Speaking of political overtones, I was watching SVU with the wife the other night. When they first showed the bad guy, I thought "Hey, he looks kind of like Obama." Later in the episode one of the detectives said, about the bad guy, "He's a narcisist who gets off on the love of young people and the dependence of their parents." Yeah...I had to laugh at that one. So obvious...
*applauds the writers and the casting director*
