Here’s my Phantom in progress, Tick. It’s a shooter, probably a parts gun or maybe it was a unibiody upgraded when the times changed. The serial number on the frame is 2674.
I bought it off peanut butter nation, it had been for sale before but I didn’t have free cash then so I bided my time, sure enough a little while went by and it came up for sale again. The prices was still a little high even when I talked the seller down some but I wanted it so I guess it wasn’t too high after all.
It came to me as a back bottle with a bottom line and macro tubing, the Rebel grip had been attached with an oversized bolt (someday I will have to heli-coil it). It was a little scratched up but it worked and after all it DID have a trigger shoe and I really liked how the curve of the Rebel grip flowed off the trigger guard like it did.
I liked the long slim outline but it didn’t balance well for me even though it had a 14” CCI barrel so the back bottle had to go. Another seller (somewhere on the web, I don’t remember who or where) had a drop out for sale; it was cheap because the anno had been removed with sandpaper. It was scratched up a little but it took a coat of paint while I tinkered some with the overall aesthetics of the gun.
Next I had to make a tube feed, I did this recently and since I currently have better things to spend my spare change on, I scavenged some parts and got creative with a dremel. The only things I bought on the feed were small black rubber bands to use as feed cap detents and a can of paint to shoot on it and the dropout; it needed it again. I baked it on this time for better durability.
Yet to come is a lever feed once I can financially swing the bits I need to drill the dropout for the mod and a real Phantom ball feed cap and maybe that heli-coil for the grip...
Here she is, “Tick”:
