Title: Paintball Pistols
dcdenney - April 7, 2009 03:46 AM (GMT)
i am looking at maybe getting a paintball pistol. I shot one of the old zues way back when. What do you guys think is the best pistol for the money? What you got?

I'd say Mil-Tec Zeus. Just like the original, but with non-proprietary parts. Check out AgentSmith's thread about it.

I would say that if I decided to quit fooling with my Mag pistol sort of thing and decided to get pistoliciously serious that the AgentSmith modified Mil-Tec Zeus is the cheapest best tried and true solution that I have found on the web (and it will be for about 8 mos to a year until Tippmann gets their product out and all the bugs squared away).
Just my $.02 and possible target solution.

Agentsmith seems to be a great pistolier, His pics were the miltec zeus with some of his own mods of I recall correctly. I do know he is anticipating the tippy pistol.
You may want to purchase a pistol until "AS" has posted up his reviews.

actually I believe they ARE propriatary, but substitutes are much easier to manufacture. often from tippmann springs and the like.

Without doubt the best value in budget priced pistols is the PMI Piranha USP. $40 from I&I, with reasonable efficiency and many Piranha-compatible parts.

I mean that it takes Spyder seals, CCI puncture pins, etc.

So, I read somewhere release date was pushed back to beginning of May. Anyone else pick up that rumor somewhere?

As hard as what it is everyone needs to chill. It will get here when it gets here.
Once it's released it will go through the "sold out" phase and the "prostituted and overcharged for on e-bay" phase and then it still needs to be thrashed by real shooters and glitches fixed before it will be completely ready to be bought.
Just cross it off your list for spring and look at late summer or fall. :P

Bless you guys for the kind words, pistol play is a labor of love for me and something I've really been working on for a long time now.
I'm still using my Miltec, though one of the owners of Hell Survivors was caught trying to jack me at the bunny hunt game last week:

By the way, the HEAVILY outnumbered bunny team scored it's first ever win against the hunters and saved eastertown!
This gun is still my own current vote for 'best primary pistol', but after being fortunate enough to talk alot with one of the engineers at Tippmann over the last few months, I'm dumping all my other stuff and getting the TPXs.
They will get fewer shots per 12ie, be more costly long term with mags vs 10rd tubes, but none of that can match the 2 biggies for me.
1. I can reload a mag without taking my sights off the target. This gets me all the time. I can also reload a 12ie in a right holstered tpx with my right hand, while at the same time being up and shooting with my left gun. For a singleactionshooting style crossdraw/strongside like myself this is gravy!
2. the consistency shot to shot, is going to be the best thing ever to use 12ies. The spool valve is super consistent for the first 2 mags, with any drop coming only in the last shot or 2.
I'm getting two of the first ones out and you can rest assured I will begin going crazy on it as I have every other marker I've had right away!

I just picked up a Tac 8 in a trade.
Never tried any kind of paintball pistol before.
Its got a bunch of UMS mods on it.
What do you guys think about Tac 8's ?
They any good ?

my friend's lil brother got one of those with the tac 9 extra parts kit.
imo the tac 8 (pistol version) is just as good, if not better than the tac9 set up.
we were test shooting it in the woods the day he got it in the mail, and it ended up being quieter and more accurate without the rain cover/barrel extension.
he uses the hopper adapter with a 50rd hopper and a remote line instead of 12grams and 8rd's.
but while i was there i brought a couple of 12grams and used the mags. i was actually suprised with the effiency. i got 3 mags full (24 shots) worth of good shots with one 12gram, and thats with taking the mag out 2 times to reload.

Pics from the former owner and his description (I havent received it yet)
"Bought this from UMS a few years back, has top and bottom rails, an NCStar red-dot sight (no battery), and the funky tip. Comes with 2 magazines, each having the tool-less Co2 mods done."
I've been wanting to try a Tac 8 for a long time now but havent had the funds to do so. I had something he had listed in the "trades wanted" area of his for sale thread so I went for it.
Never tried or even shot a paintball pistol.
Looking forward to it.

I am purchasing some paintball equipment, and although I didn't buy a paintball pistol I felt very obliged to do so. What are some advantages of a paintball pistol, and which are recommended?
