Title: 10 rounds?

Chemical X - October 2, 2008 05:46 AM (GMT)
Ok so basically my question is why do most pistols use ten rounds in them? I know some others use 8 like the tib series, sydarms, squalls and probly a few others but for the most part they are 10 rounds. Why is that? Also with the exception of the tiberius I dont understand why the others that are 8 rounders are 8 rounders.

I was unsure of how I would like the grip mag on the tiberius but I quickly adapted and now it dosnt feel so weird, Still though its kind of weird.

Well, tubes are 10 rounds

Duh!

Now, you ask, why are they 10? Its metric. Hell if I know. 10is a nice round number.

Why 8? Beats me. I do need to cut a few tubes down to 8. I just don't use the Sydarm that much anymore.

The tubes being 10 is a good idea but even when the pistols came out like the PT extreme and later versions and brands stock play wasnt doing so well. So I am not sure if the 10 round tubes had much to do with it.

Oh I think the ready availability of harnesses and tubes has alot to do with it, plus it was the old hotdogs in packs of 8, buns in packs of 6 phenomenon. The original tubes from nelson were 10 paintballs each, but the Nelspot007 held 8. IF I recall correctly it was a simple matter that the metal cigar tubes that were the right diameter to be bulk ordered for Nelson back then simply happened to come in that length. The length of the guns seems to mimic the proportions of real firearms.
Really the tubes are perfect for my P68SC which holds 15. I can load a whole tube in before I'm totally out of ammo.

well i thought i had a response for you before i read the whole thing and mr smith alredy said it...

paint was originally in the metal cigar tubes first... and they were actually cigar tubes right? ... it just happened that 10 balls fit in them is all... thus setting the presidence. After that people expected 10 balls in tubes.

I'm fairly sure the tib 8 is 8 because of the size of the gripframe. from what I've seen pretty much all the top loading pistols are 10.

I know both my zeus clones and my squall are 10rd'ers, so is the p-68 as well.

10rd tubes are the main reason I shortened my duckslide's 15rd feed to a 10 (well more like 11-12) so that I wouldn't end up with half a tube bouncing around on my belt. or a bunch of empty space for my paint to roll around in the feed.
