UPDATE: ARM TAPE IS MANDATORY ON ONE ARM. TAPE ON BOTH ARMS IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.
Detailed rundown:
During the player brief, we will introduce the Ashes and ensure that both teams are relatively even. You will not have to sign up for a team ahead of time, that can be accomplished during the briefing. After the rules are laid out and the safety briefing given, each "general" will be given a few words and the crowd asked to split in two. Once the teams are relatively even, we'll hand out arm tape. The tape is optional, though you're on your honor to stay on the same side for the duration of the game.
This being Pump Pandemonium, we're going to need to rely on all the players being honest in order to keep the game fun. We're not going to put limitations on your gear (other than no semis, no pneumatic assist) so if you want to show up with your Halo-fed, autotriggered, constant air monster then that's your deal. Just be aware that the rest of us find it rather unsporting. We're structuring the game with the same emphasis on honesty and sportsmanship. Besides, if we can't trust each other to play nice, no amount of oppressive regulations are going to help.
Once teams are drawn up, we will flip a coin and the winning Ash will select the side his team gets to start on. There will be four center flags as noted above and one base flag per team. You should find that the distances between starting points and the objectives are fairly even. Each starting point will have a deadbox including a tent shelter stocked with spray bottles, paper towels and plenty of water. Players are asked to keep their spare paint and air outside of the tent but are certainly encouraged to bring it to their dead zone with them.
After three hours, we will have an hour lunch break. We do not have food vendors for this event, so collaboration on food/beverages is encouraged. We will switch sides and play for another three hours in the same format.
The final battle will be a 10/20 format. The first 10 minutes is single-elimination with a two-minute starting window. The window is not there for tag-ups but so that, if you choose, you can wait for a minute or two before entering the play field. You still get only one "life" for the first 10 minutes. After those 10 minutes are up, constant reinsertion will open and the final battle will continue for another 20 minutes. There will be a single center control flag which will be scored every five minutes. We feel that this mix gives up some very good opportunities to introduce strategy while still keeping the game objective very simple.
We have some very nice sponsors lined up for the prize giveaway. More on that at a future date.
For open play, we will publish a schedule of times and field locations. We will not waste time meeting in the staging area. Simply go to the designated field at the listed time and there will be a ref there ready to start your game with whoever shows up. We will have at least two groups - one stock class and one open class - and more can be added if we have the numbers to do so.

5pts/30 minets- Is that like zone control, you get 5pts for controling the flag for 30 minets? or do you actualy have to return the flag for the points? Thanks

This is the only part that gives me pause. Are we assuming the pump community is small enough that we all know one another? I very much prefer to be able to identify my opponents.
I suppose I could just shoot at anybody in front of me, but given how slowly I move that would be everyone. :P
Noodles - July 9, 2008 03:14 PM (GMT)
Each flag will be scored by a ref every 30 minutes. So, if you have control at 11:30, 12, etc you will get 5 points for each flag your team's colors show on.
Sorry that that was unclear.
Jeffy-
I wish everyone would wear tape, too. However, that is not an EMR rule and we cannot force people to wear it. It often results in more grumbling than it is worth and in the end it doesn't make people wear the arm tape. Guess they can't complain about friendly fire.
crazyorigin - July 9, 2008 05:06 PM (GMT)
I really hope they do use the tape, and on both arms, i know i shot a couple teammates last year due to not seing what team they were on, and there were other red/blue team issues i saw. tape on both arms would be ideal, i dont see where anyone can complain about it, but i'm sure someone will.
DarkWaters - July 10, 2008 01:12 PM (GMT)
Use the tape, Even if its not an EMR rule we can make it ours. If they dont like it they dont have to play, thats the price of freedom. If i dont see an tape im going to shoot you..... Or if your Sixx ill shoot you anyway Mah ha ha :P
papaintballer - July 10, 2008 07:47 PM (GMT)
i think it should always be both arms. I missed 2 easy and well placed eliminations at western worrs bc i couldnt see the tape since we were only wearing it on one side, which they just happened to have that arm facing away. So i let them carry on what they were doing, decided to sneak up behind them i did.. just to bad i caught the re-insertion and a ambush at the same time. >.<
Lone Goose - July 11, 2008 01:29 AM (GMT)
So can we get in on Open play for the same $40 entry? How late are they playing on Friday?

With reference to tape, both sides need to wear it.
If for no other reason than it's the fairest thing to do.
Allowing a team to go without tape is asking for trouble.
And yes, both arms please.
TrojanMan - July 21, 2008 05:47 PM (GMT)
Minor update to arm tape rules:
Since this is technically a private event, we can override EMR policy on arm tape. For Pump Pandemonium, arm tape will be mandatory. You must wear tape on at least one arm above the elbow. Placing tape on both arms or placed elsewhere (on a hopper, strip across the back, etc.) is optional if you wish to wear more.
The first post will be updated whenever Noodles gets around to it.
Noodles - July 21, 2008 06:28 PM (GMT)
We will shortly have the complete rules posted. Of course, all EMR safety rules apply.

UPDATE:
(6/23/08)
EMR will be hosting two smaller walk-on groups on Saturday. Our playing field for the big game will be changed slightly to accomodate. The new field for the big game is going to be Boneheads to the pines, including Ft Worr, part of the speedball field, the back pines, bridge and everything in the middle including the woods behind and downhill from Boneheads. This is the same field as for PPIII (slightly larger than it was for IV).
The private groups will be taking Margaritaville and the upper fields including Castle, the town, etc. during the big game. Our open play will be unaffected.
We have only 60 pre-registrations from closing of the pre-reg deadline last week. We are getting a few more registrations at full price. We are expecting most people to pay at the door. For reference, last year we had 40 pre-regs and over 100 walk ons. For PPIII, the numbers were similar. We are expecting the trend to continue this year and so we can hope for a turnout of around 150-200 people.
PRIZES:
We have had many sponsors put together prize packages for this event. Expect to see prizes from CCI, CCM, Wevo, Palmer's and other supporters of the pump community. We will be giving away at least two full guns and likely more. The guns will likely be Phantoms but stay tuned on a potential ultimate prize package including a one-of-a-kind custom marker. We should have details by next week.
If you are on the fence about going, I encourage you to show up. We will have free lodging, food and drink, some great prizes and at least 15 hours of great paintball play just betwen Sat. and Sun. Show up Friday and play even more! If you have friends, bring them!
We need to keep spreading the word and encouraging people to make the trip. I know it's a long way and fuel prices are high for everyone. I'll be driving 6 hours one-way and plenty of other people are coming from farther than that. I promise you'll have a good time.
I look forward to seeing everyone in a week!
papaintballer - July 23, 2008 08:26 PM (GMT)
dang.. we cant harass the private group. As being a season pass holder technically we can play any private groups with permission. So perhaps i should bring the BL vice and see if theyll let me play with them, own all them, then come back and rock the phantom :P
lookin forward to it. It is the 2nd/3rd right? im to lazy to look
WheresWaldo - July 23, 2008 10:39 PM (GMT)
Yeah...there is no excuse not to come...even i'm making it this year!
Brimstone - July 24, 2008 12:58 AM (GMT)
rainman has also graciously donated to the giveaway
Meph - July 28, 2008 07:00 PM (GMT)
Flag station poles are made. They are each 7.5' tall with a looped rope, You pull 1 color flag down, the other one goes up. They will have an X base with stake holes so they hopefully won't fall over either.
Can be disassembled too. The poles are attached with 2 bolts, take them out and the base detaches. Makes for easy storage.

Here is the field map for PPV, thanks to Ted's mad MS Paint skillz.

Good map. That clarifies it up well.
