Title: Side Event Idea
Description: Marksmanship competition

I call it:

Stock Class Reloading, Open: The Ultimate Marksmanship Challenge

Honestly, the name is the best thing about the idea so far.

Anyhow, it's basically a "practical shooting" style event in which everyone competes individually. There's only one prize and that's for first place. There are no points, only time. Shortest time wins.

Use the chrono area to run five stages. Stages are set up to each test something a little bit different. One stage for longballing, one for breakouts, one for bumping up through bunkers, one for run-through/bunkering, one large stage for last which incorporates all elements.

Each stage is three targets except the last which is five. Targets will be standardized size, I'm thinking just squares of corrugated steel. 1' x 1' in size. It'll last through the whole match, it makes an recognizable sound when hit and it's cheap and easy to make.

Three targets are placed on the course and the shooter stands in the starging box. Whistle blows, stopwatch starts. The timer stops when all targets have been hit. Lowest time wins each stage, lowest aggregate time wins match.

Rules on markers: Any pump marker is allowed (hence the Open designation of the title) but all reloads must be made from 10-round tubes. The marker cannot be loaded until the timer/ref gives the OK and then it must be loaded with only a single 10-round tube. The player may reload at any time through the course of each stage. The player may not reload more than one 10-round tube at a time (to prefent people from using a hopper and just dumping a handful of tubes in right at the beginging). Stock class reloading, open.

The stages will require movement. The movement will be between pre-determined shooting areas which are marked on the ground with tape. Shooting must be done fully inside the boxes. The targets will be laid out such that all three targets cannot be shot from the same shooting station. Taking a shot from outside the box will incur a five-second penalty. Taking a second shot disqualifies the stage. The line is "in" meaning that both feet or knees must be inside the box or touching the line for the shot to be legal. We're not going to nitpick your toe being over the line but a shot made from obviously outside the box will be penalized. If you want to shoot from prone, you must have over 50% of your body inside the box (waist down). Most stages will incorporate one shooting area, some two and the final stage three.

The fastest time from the previous stage goes first on the next stage. Each competitor gets two retries for the whole match. On two stages (or twice on the same stage) a competitor can elect to re-run the stage after everyone else has completed it. The fastest time of the two (or three) runs is accepted for score.

Good idea or bad idea?

Sounds like fun... one thing though. If this is ok, then no problem... but my reading of the rules seems to tell me when the whistle blows I can grab one tube, dump it in my hopper & repeat till it is full (just one at a time)... then go shoot.

"The player may reload at any time through the course of each stage. The player may not reload more than one 10-round tube at a time (to prefent people from using a hopper and just dumping a handful of tubes in right at the beginging). Stock class reloading, open."

So you cant dump handfulls at a time... but it would seem to still give us open classers an advantage in loading 10 tubes in a row, as fast as we can... then not having to reload later.

One reload per stage maybe?

I like the idea of having a few events on sunday. Possibly even a castle game sat evening or all those who have to leave on sunday.

Chem.... and you want me to make a "Race Sniper" for myself now dont you ;)

Race meaning like the Race 45 compitition pistols.. not the Egrip

Hmmm Needs three things repeatable positioning, speed of reloading, and accuracy :D

I think having a SCROTUM Challenge ignores the contribution of women in paintball.

Plus, you should only be allowed two balls, it's only natural. :P

I'm not a large fan of the idea just becasue we haven't had all that many people playing day to.

so far i want to do open and stockclass open play if we have 200 plus people show up i could see this being an option.
