Hey guys... I got a clip from a scenario last weekend. Battle of the Bulge, out in Holden MO.

I was just lucky enough to have a camera toting ref right next to me as I walked up behind the enemy, handed him my main gun, and said, "Hold this for a sec." Then I drew iron, and took out one of his buddies. The next instant, he spun, bringing his T68 to bear, pointing it directly at me.

In that moment, instinct and training took over. I instantly went from "this is hilarious" to, "that is a weapon in my face." Adrenaline flooded my system, and time seemed to slow down. I could have easily put a round right in his head, but in the state of "bullet time" I was in, I thought about his safety still... its hard to describe... but the clip shows the rest.

Commando Kyle - October 10, 2007 07:15 PM (GMT)
Me neither. Thats one thing I still cant get... Ive never had someone spin on me when I have the pistol in their ribs...

The Scout - October 10, 2007 08:40 PM (GMT)
Did you say "You tried to go hand-to-hand with me thats..." cute or killer? I couldn't quite catch that, but anyway that was the best thing I've seen in paintball yet.

Commando Kyle - October 10, 2007 08:52 PM (GMT)
I think I said cute. Heheh. I didnt remember that till now.

golden220 - October 11, 2007 03:39 PM (GMT)

Commando Kyle - October 11, 2007 03:56 PM (GMT)

I HATE these work computers. No Flash means no videos, and I'm blocked from downloading Flash. GAH!! Guess I'll have to wait 'til I get home.

B) That is pretty cool.haha I still can't belive he pulled the trigger at point blank at your face.

You handled it perfectly. And regarded his safety. I am supprised the guy quite after he was looking up at you take out his teammates from the i'm flat on my butt position.. maybe reality set in for him finaley. Very Nice.I salute you. LOL :D

Big Boy - October 11, 2007 05:20 PM (GMT)
^I'm pretty positive Kyle shot him in all that mess too. He had to quit :)

Commando Kyle - October 11, 2007 06:59 PM (GMT)
Yeah. I shot him once in the ribs. I was pretty much done asking for a surrender at that point.

Be Nice - October 11, 2007 07:15 PM (GMT)
Still pretty cool Kyle lol. It is not like he gave you a choice. Thanks for straightening me out . I stand corrected and still impressed lol. ;) I guess they have no barrel tag rules where you were playing. You stated it was in his ribs when he turned on you? B)

I just put it there and said surrender... I dont know if we do have barrel tag rules or not, actually. I just usually say surrender, and it works.

Murf the Elder - October 11, 2007 10:03 PM (GMT)
Haha...that's great. Nice form on the shooting, too.

I must say, though, every field I've ever played pulled you for any personal contact, including grabbing the other guy's gun/barrel/whatever.

Commando Kyle - October 12, 2007 01:57 PM (GMT)
Yeah. I realize grabbing him would have technically been against the rules... but it was one of those moments where instinct and training step in. The barrel in my face became a threat to me.

Murf the Elder - October 12, 2007 05:01 PM (GMT)
What was your primary that you handed off?

Commando Kyle - October 14, 2007 09:58 PM (GMT)
G-36A5.

Nicely done, and throughout all that you had the presence of mind (if it wasn't accidental), to shoot him in a protected place because of the range you were at.
Kudos.

EDIT: Spelling.

Amoryl - March 10, 2008 01:04 AM (GMT)
I can see why the guy tried to shoot you, shock causing him to spin around, causing more shock that you were right there. it's possible he didn't actually intend to shoot till you "reacted" looks like maybe a bit of instincts took over for both of you, but your instincts had the upper hand of a fair amount of training, so you win!

when I boffer fought I was a darned good backstabber. you always had to be ready for when you courtesy tap someone (a light hit in the back rather then a full on swing when they're not expecting it) that they might instantly respond by swinging around and lashing out in surprise. quite a few unsuspecting backstabbers got clocked in the head because of a surprised reaction.

It's possible the kid was an asshat and had no qualms about popping you in the goggles from point blank, but barring any other evidence, and not witnessing things, I'm willing to assume it was blind reaction rather then malice.

but daaaamn that was some slick moves.
