Title: SCP Bunkhouse Space
Description: Info for members and guests
TrojanMan - March 19, 2007 05:31 AM (GMT)
I'm making this post because it seems people have decided to contact me to request space in the bunkhouse. That's perfectly find and if you would like to get a space, feel free to message me.
Members, feel free to correct any information I may have incorrect.
Available bunkspace:
Bunks x 15
Couches x 3
...plenty of floorspace...
List for castle conquest that I am aware of right now:
Passholders (in no particular order):
* Myself
* Noodles
* My brother
* Brimstone
* Hitman Bob
* Meph
* 10-shot
Guests:
* Chem X
* Machine
* (Darkwaters - maybe)
* Sunfisher89
* PBowler
* Amoryl
If you would like to be on the list, please contact me with a PM.
The order of the list of guests is the order in which they have contacted me. First come, first served.
If you contacted another passholder or if a passholder has a friend they would like to bring, your name will be added to the list based upon the date of your PM or email to them (or an approximate date from memory is fine). I'm not going to kick anyone out, mind you, this is just to have an order of who has "first call" on bunkspace if we happen to have more people than we can put up at once. You're always welcome to sleep on the floor (which is about the same comfort-wise as a wooden bunk, it's just that in a bunk people won't step on you... usually. :lol: )
Information for attendees:
* Brimstone will be up on Thursday night and will be doing a little bit of work on Friday. If you get up there, please try to hold off on throwing your gear around until he gets done what he needs to do. Keep it in your car or put it on a bunk if you can. We'll have more storage space once he's done with his work.
* It WILL be cold at night. Very cold. Bring a good sleeping bag (or two) and your own pillow.
* Guests will be asked to contribute a donation to the bunkhouse. $20 per head for the weekend will help cover the cost of the electric bill for the year as well as the substantial costs involved with remodeling the bunkhouse. Until we finish with the remodeling, there will be a small fee associated with staying in the bunkhouse. It should be a small price to pay for having a nice place to stay. Already we've made a huge step up from what we had previously and it will only continue to get better.
* Munchies, water, soda, etc. - There's a lot of people and a lot of eating/drinking. Don't leave anything consumable in the bunkhouse that you're too terribly attached to. Nobody is going to raid your gear bag but if there's a bag of chips on the table, it's assumed to be open game. Likewise for beer put in the fridge, etc. On the same token, you're welcome to any of our stuff too. The beer/alcohol potlock alone is usually enough to provide some pretty good variety. You're encouraged to bring food and drink to share as the rest of us will be doing the same. Again, participation is voluntary but recommended.
* Shoes/socks - It's muddy and wet. It's going to be nasty. Please bring more than one pair of socks so that we don't have to smell the same pair all weekend. Also, bring a garbage bag for your dirty gear. Stuff like that...
* A flashlight is recommended
* Smoking - At present, there is no smoking in the bunkhouse. This *may* change but we don't have enough windows right now for adequate ventillation. Until some undisclosed point in the future, there is no smoking in the bunkhouse. Oh, and if you're a smoker, bring more than you plan on smoking yourself. There's a lot of "borrowing" going on. :lol:
*more information to be added as necessary*
EDIT: Change on 4/2/07 to reflect added bunk space and new policies on bunkhouse donations and smoking.

I *was* Planning on going, but with the my current paycheck that barely lasts to cover until the next one, it's looking grim if I'll have any money at all to travel and buy paint etc. So, more or less I'm out.
crazyorigin - March 19, 2007 06:13 PM (GMT)
on avreage, what is the temperature usualy at Spring CC? Me and 2 of my friends are making the trip down there for the weekend for the first time, and are undecided where we will be staying. A bunkhouse is a choice were thinking about. I just dont really want to freeze to death, haha. I have a couple of radiant heaters i could bring. If we end up wanting to stay at a bunkhouse i may have a window to donate to your bunkhouse if you need one, and wouldnt have a problem with dontaing money, and bringing lots of beer and munchies.
freedom - March 20, 2007 12:32 AM (GMT)
i froze at last year's spring castle. it was a little below freezing at night but did warm up quickly when the sun was up...
bring a real sleeping bag, not one for sleep-overs...
Meph - March 20, 2007 01:03 AM (GMT)
Spring time turns EMR into a desert style of weather pattern. We'll have 70 to 80 degree temps during the day with no cloud coverage so you'll get plenty of sun burn. And then drops down into the 40's or lower come night.
Of course weather patterns are really weird as of late in general. It tends to get very hot summer weather for a couple weeks in the spring, cool off again for another month, and warm back up again through August. August flat out sucks if you don't have a lot of water and sunscrean!
And yes it will be sunny and warm. No other type of weather is legally allowed to be mentioned under penalty of castration. Unless you're a lady then well that's punishment enough. :lol:
TrojanMan - March 20, 2007 02:11 AM (GMT)
Regardless of what the weather is, the ground itself will be muddy. If not from just the melting snow then from the roughly five thousand gallons of paint we're going to dump everywhere...
Brimstone - March 20, 2007 05:31 AM (GMT)
my cosin bob is also a pass holder this year, as well as 10 shot i think
Chemical X - March 20, 2007 07:08 AM (GMT)

Will they be at Castle? I'll put them on the list and we can ammend later as needed. Thanks, Brim.
Chem, I'll mark you down for +2 (Fryloc and who else?) and you can let me know of the third person if/when they can confirm.
Chemical X - March 20, 2007 04:14 PM (GMT)
fryloc and DJ phat_B.
Darkwaters may be along as well.
10-shot kid - March 21, 2007 05:49 AM (GMT)
I'll be at every castle game and I am a pass holder (it's on my desk and I already e-mailed blue to add me to the SCP bunkhouse a while ago). My girl will be coming but we plan on attempting to share a bunk in order to cut down on guest intrusion. If this doesn't work out we'll all know after meltdown.
Chemical X - March 23, 2007 03:06 AM (GMT)
Strike "DJ phat B" as he just bailed out on this glorious hail of blue paint.
DJ phat_B - March 26, 2007 03:05 AM (GMT)
Sorry guys, Wedding comes first. Finishing projects in the house comes second. I know I was really really looking forward to going to this massive festivity. My appologies to Chem. I let him down. I feel horrible. There is always next year.

Don't forget about Fall Castle, either!
I'm sure we'll get you up there sooner or later. No worries.
In other news, I picked up some nails and supplies for the Bunkhouse today and my list is almost complete. I have a few minor bits to take care of but it doesn't look like I'll have a problem getting it.
If all goes to plan, we're going to have one heck of a nice bunkhouse this year.

unless it has atleast a 32" HD tv and a 360 in it, dont count on it ;)
haha, hopefully ill be at meltdown this weekend. Kinda skippin out on iwo jima, no way of gettin there and EMR being 25 min away, its perfect. And hopefully ill have my pump, just send wevo a request for the black 45 VSC package with guaged valve,UC kit,trigger shoe,t-stock and stickies.
no idea how long it takes for them to message back, pay and then to have it shipped. But if i have it by friday (i hope) ill definatly be over :)
Chemical X - March 26, 2007 09:32 PM (GMT)
Make sure to tell davinci/wevo of your time schedule, this will be a big help to them and you.
papaintballer - March 26, 2007 09:43 PM (GMT)
would be alot easier to have a add to cart option on the site. and i could have been done with everything already instead of sitting here waiting on a response :P
Chemical X - March 26, 2007 10:38 PM (GMT)
You could do how I do with palmers. Just send em more loot than you expect and let em know to return the excess.
TrojanMan - April 2, 2007 01:55 PM (GMT)
Updated my initial post. Please re-read ammended sections for more information.
We have plenty of room for everyone to stay in the bunkhouse during Castle. It will be a little bit cramped so you are encouraged to keep as much gear in your car as you can but we'll work through it no problem.
Please note that we are requesting a $20 donation per person to stay in the bunkhouse for Castle. While it is still a donation (ergo, not compulsory), we really do need the money to pay expenses and to afford more work on the bunkhouse. As Meph put it, we're all still on the equivalent of a college budget and I'm sure most everyone can identify with that. We're still eating ramen but with your help we can move up to Easy Mac.
Also, because we do not have enough windows to support proper ventillation, we are not allowing smoking in the bunkhouse at this time.
I think everyone will be pleased with what we have to offer.
As always, I'll try to answer any questions as best I can.
Amoryl - April 3, 2007 02:46 AM (GMT)
$20???? for that much i could spend the night in a perfectly disgusting rodent infested std hole of a motel out in BFE for...maybe a night, unless they charge "per hour"
do you take paypal, or would you prefer cash on the spot?
i'm definately going, if i have to spend the weekend gnawing on my shoe leather because i can't afford food, i'm freakin going!
TrojanMan - April 3, 2007 04:02 AM (GMT)
Like I said, it's a donation.
If you can't afford it, that's fine. We understand that most people who play paintball aren't that old and therefore don't have much of a budget. Heck, the people who are passholders for the bunkhouse aren't that old and don't have much of a budget. That's why we're asking in the first place.
Don't get me wrong, if I could spare the extra bucks I wouldn't ask for a dime. Even as it stands, there are a lot of expenses that are coming out of our own pockets just because we know it'll be good for SCP and for everyone associated with SCP in the future. The only reason we'd ask for anything at all is because we can't do it by ourselves.
More importantly, I want everyone to know that we're not trying to rob you or anything. You can rest assured that everyhing we take in (and more) will be put back into the bunkhouse. We need to pay the electric and we need to pay for expenses. We need to buy building materials and we have a bunch of other stuff that costs money. We want to have a nice bunkhouse to go to just as much as anyone else does.
I'm not trying to sell my point or anything like that. If you don't want to or can't chip in then don't. You're under no obligation whatsoever. This isn't our bunkhouse, this is the SCP bunkhouse. Passholders have priority in sleeping arrangements but that's about it. We all want this to be your home whenever you're at EMR. That goes for everyone on these boards regardless of how long they've been a member or whether or not they can afford a contribution.
I, personally, want SCP the bunkhouse to be a haven of friendship, sportsmanship and hospitality and I will do everything I can to make it so. I know other passholders want the same thing. My priorities are to put in a bar, a fridge and other amenities that will make people want to hang out around the bunkhouse. I want people to look forward to EMR weekends because SCP will be there.
I drive six hours one way to get to EMR and it is well worth it.
I know people come from a lot farther away than that and I'm not trying to one-up anybody but I'm just trying to make a point that for better or for worse, my contribution to SCP is as a member of the EMR bunkhouse team. I don't regret one minute of it.
I know this post is long and potentially unnecessary. Please don't take this as a recruiting campaign or a fundraising drive. Don't let me convince you one way or the other. If you do want to buy a pass or donate some money, do it because you want to and not because I or anyone else coerced you to.
All I ask is that if you can make it up to EMR, stop by SCP the bunkhouse, have a drink and share a few laughs. It's a great time and we're all friends. I know a 30' x 10' shed isn't anything special but it means a lot to me. I don't want anyone to think that we're trying to suck money out of you because you want to stay in the bunkhouse. This is your bunkhouse as much as it is ours as far as I'm concerned. I am simply (and humbly) asking for a donation to help cover a small part of the cost.
All I can say is that I assure you that it will be well worth it in the long run.
Amoryl - April 4, 2007 12:56 AM (GMT)
TM, I hope you were able to note the sarcasm in my post :)
I've no problem at all with donating to the fund. do you want it prior or upon arrival though? I'm fine with either. I was trying to illistrate that $20 wouldn't get anyone much in the way of accomidations anywhere else short of one short night in a place that I doubt I could bathe enough afterwards to ever feel clean again.
so if you thought I was complaining about the donation, then I suppose I shall have to be more active in my posting so as you get to know my personality ;)
TrojanMan - April 4, 2007 01:07 AM (GMT)
Nah, it's fine. You're not going to upset me. My post was more of a general appeal and I simply happen to get carried away when I'm at the keyboard. Often it ends up in my being a little long-winded.
I know what you're saying but the point still remains that we're asking for charity. I don't want to do it but unfortunately we have to. Hopefully in future years it won't be neccessary.
If you want to make a donation, just give it directly to Brimstone when you see him. He's the one with the truck - hence, he buys and brings most of the building supplies.
We're looking forward to seeing you there.

If anyone wants a case of paint, his pre-ordered discount case is up for grabs. $72 for the first person to ask. Cash at the event is fine.
