Title: pig roast.

Flaker - February 24, 2007 12:32 AM (GMT)
what would the interest be if me and pinky brought a pig to be roasted for saterday night, after the big game. me and pinky make these all the time well supply everything, but as you know they dont come cheap. well love to bring the roasting box to the bunkhouse and well start it after the last whistle and we shower of course.

but all we ask is for a 5-10 dollar fee for the pig. that number also will change upon interest and cost of the pig, the pig usually costs around 130-150 whole sale. the more people that want in the less it would cost. easy to comprehend.

again this is some time from now but the sooner we plan the better.

Flaker, as I'm sure you're aware, some other teams do pig roasts for various other games. I'm sure your contribution would be welcome.

Roundabout, how many people does a whole pig feed? 50-60?
Might it be a good idea to get two? (Or will that be WAY too much?)

I'm just saying, at only $150 per pig (-ish) the SCP members in attendance could easily pay for two pigs without really breaking the bank for anyone. $5 tops if everyone that's going contributed. Perhaps we can bill it as a promotional item?

Come to PPIV and we'll give you free pig.
I know I'd shell out the $5 or $10 for a pig or two and be more than willing to share.
Should we shoot for trying to feed everyone? Maybe as part of SCP's "gift" to the event or something.

Just an idea.

If there isn't enough interest to foot the bill to feed everyone you can at least count Noodles and I in for some pig.

Also, if anyone is interested, Rich of Tasty Tyme caterers (who runs the rib sandwich stand) has his restaurant in DE and we speak with him somewhat frequently. The last time we were there, he expressed some concern over the changing dates and was wondering how many people were showing up, what they wanted, etc. Perhaps we could bring the issue up to him regarding a free sat. night barbecue/meal and SCP as a whole could foot most of the bill? Just as an issue to discuss. Maybe we could ask him to just make the sides?
Rich makes the best pasta salad and baked beans I've ever had, FWIW.
I just want to make sure that EMR's selected caterer isn't left out is all.
Shake the hand that feeds you and so forth...

Oh, and if you haven't had it, the pasta salad really IS that good...

If meph and brimstone do the hula during the luau im in!

Flaker - February 24, 2007 06:54 AM (GMT)
i thought about that 150 mark, talked to pinky and he informed me that would be for a very large pig. and i didnt think and got numbers mixed up, it would be drastically less and im more than willing to put down a good 50 bucks for it i just want to get an idea of how else this would happen, i know there has been pig roasts there thats what got me thinking. but ill get solid plans and then post them just looking to see what the interest is and so far it looks good.

Id be in for it as well, Plus there will be a handful of people joining us this year so I am sure you could put us down for approx 5-9 total.

PM me with the pig cost when you are getting ready to purchase it.

So do we want a county cop or a city cop.

Cause sherriffs usually come a bit pricey but I hear they are worth the extra.

Flaker - February 24, 2007 06:00 PM (GMT)
county usually have more meat on them, i dont know where your sources are but its not the sheriffs its all about the dispatchers!!!!

they have the most meat.:P

ok well i went to go get the pig and the cost of one pig was $150, i was heart broken, then coming in to realization that pig owould only feed the bunk house if that, im sorry to say but the pig roast is no more, its to much for so little.

It's the thought that counts...

Actually, I can't much handle pork anymore, as I've aged I've discovered that it does very bad things to my digestive track.

Hmm...a fart?...or a shart?

(it's scary when you have to contemplate such things...)

Jeff, if you plan to stay on,don't forget to make arrangements to get back to the motel.
A few of the guys may hang at the field into the evening.

Saturday night - My plan is to scope out the prime rib dinner at Green Gables.
Before the Caesars start flowing, my car keys go on the dresser.

TrojanMan - August 1, 2007 05:46 PM (GMT)
$150?

But what are we talking about here, 40-50 pounds of meat? That's a very reasonable price, really... but it's cool. I'll just eat up on some Rich Ribs instead.

So I guess it's safe to say that Six will not be turning cannibal any time soon?
Somebody get that man some corn and metamucil!

The pig roast cancellation does bring up a very important question, though.

I'm not planning to bring any substantial foodstuffs. Maybe some snacks but nothing to handle a party. We do have a grill and we *could* make a run for burgers and such but we've got to do at least a little planning for it.

What are we doing for food for the Saturday night party?

Flaker - August 1, 2007 07:17 PM (GMT)
i know its a reasonable price but my old employer who i was getting it from said 80 bucks two weeks ago i dont know what happened with that but for a 60 pound pig 150 bucks and if i spend that im stuck in NJ with a pig. it was all one big miss calculation and this weekend snuck up on me.

ill see about bringing some things to contribute to the bbq, still ill bring a carton of eggs for mornings and some hotdogs. no one will go hungry and six does not have to resort to cannibalism.

im heading up friday after noon so ill see every one friday night until then im busy, so ill see every one up there.

SAFE DRIVING AND FLYING!!

Me, Fat Pumper, and one of our buddys will be coming in friday some time. You guys want us to bring anything? We are driving about 5 hrs to get there. Were not going to have much, Im bring a bunch of stuff to sell. I plan on setting up a booth so I will have some goodies to sell. A few phantoms, Series 6, a few freak kits for phantoms and some other stuff. But let me know what you guys would like us to bring.

papaintballer - August 1, 2007 08:46 PM (GMT)
dang. wish the problem woulda came up sooner. I work at a meat processing facility. So i could have bought like a 40 lb box of hamburgers and a couple ribeyes or sirloins.. to late now >.<

Im probably gonna be bringing pizza, or if some ppl wanna take a trip friday night to get pizza i know a good place, 9.50 for a large, i think its like 10.75 with 1 topping or somewhere around there. if enough ppl want em myself and some other ppl could go over order them, hang out and then bring em back and distribute.

Green gables is always in question too.. :D

I know I'll be at the Gables for the prime rib but will be heading back to EMR for socializing after. So if Jeffy needs I can offer a ride back to the ridge, that is unless I wind up getting too social.user posted image

Hey I'm not so old I need Metamucil yet!!! :P

I hope that by cannibal you mean that pork is very similar to human flesh and not that you insinuate that I am of porcine heritage... <_<

(Although the possible double entendre is humorous)

If indeed you did mean the latter, that is the most diplomatic manner in which I have ever been called a pig.

I was about to comment on that being ok, and that I have thick skin and all...but wouldn't that sort of prove the insinuation?

I still love you anyway TM even in light of the possible ambiguity.

(Just bustin' your nads bro!)

B)

I seriously wish I could still eat pork. I dearly love a glazed ham with cloves and honey...ribs...bacon... but I pay a dear price for eating it.

Six, indeed I meant to say that humans, like pigs, contain comparably low levels of myoglobin in their flesh. That said, commercially-grown pigs generally have a much healthier diet than we give to ourselves so I suppose it's not quite apples to apples. After seeing what some people subsist on (Need I say, "Baconator?") I'm not really sure I'd want to consume them. We're so concerned about drugs and supplements in animals meant for human consumption and yet we turn around and do the same thing to our own bodies. I doubt many Americans would pass an FDA grading inspection. I'm sure my meat would at least have a light hoppy note to it.

See? That's how I've got to think of it. I'm not a drunkard, I'm Kobe human.
Put that on a t-shirt.

But then if you really want to read into it...
Nah, I can't take credit for something I didn't intend.

Suffice to say I was just making a poor jest.

easix6 - August 2, 2007 02:09 PM (GMT)
LOL!

Gotta keep you hoppin! ;)

(I knew what you meant.)

See ya' at PP Ted.
