Title: Features of the perfect sidearm.
Description: Share your opinions
Omega Chief - March 14, 2006 04:39 PM (GMT)
I was looking into picking up a nice handgun but none of them seem to really have all of the features I want. So I am considering picking one up and heavily modifying it to incorporate everything I want.
So, if you could have the "perfect" handgun what could it do and how? What features would it have to have and what proplems would have to be avoided at all costs? I just want some ideas fo it so if you have anything let me know.. It just dosen't seem like anything is really good out there right now. Heck, even pump or semi?
Thanks guys!

I would want 30 shots per cartridge. (I know, dreaming...seeing as my PMI-I doesn't even get that)
Semi-Auto
A springfeed that reloads like the Sidekick Semis did: just a hole in the top so that you don't have to fool with a plug.
Small enough bore that paint doesn't roll out (this problem plagues Zues' and PT's).
12 gram in the grip (ala Sidekick/Splatty) to avoid the three tubes that the PT's and such have. I don't like how tall they are.
Some sort of counter-balancing weight in the rear of it (just make the back heavier), as the existing ones are unbalanced to the front because all the weight is in the barrel.
What? I don't ask for much. :D

Agreeing with everything Murf said...
Also, I would want it to be light, but durable and balanced. I wouldn't want to strap something to my leg that feels like a bowling ball. <_<

Very small
Triple tube design
Side dropout
Some kind of 12 gram assist (such as the USP)
30 shots per cartridge
Affordable
.45 frame
Spring fed
Easy to reload
Light-weight
Barrel extension options
Can use A5 forgrips (usp)
I wish one of these would fall from the sky into my hands.

Man those do sound good. I would use one of those alot... Semi sounds good but their seems to be an efficiency problem with em and often reliability issues... So would a pump be preferred for its efficiency and reliability or is semi worth the downfalls? Sounds like a neat idea for a spring fed system like that to.

Small overall size, big grips for big hands, semi auto blow forward, spring fed, self-sealing for 12ers, reusable ejectable clips.
Oh wait...

A Tiberius 8 that had an extended magazine to hold extra paint, and for the parts of a slam-changer.
Beyond that the rest of the T8 is all I could ever ask for. 40 shots a 12g, light, accurate, smaller and hella sexier than anything else out there :)

Welllllllllllllllllllllllll... it has to be HUGE!!! and have about 30 shots per carterage, dead accurate, silant as no other, 15 ball, low profile spring fed magazine, flash muffeler, 45 degree frame, have a leg holster, on the side of the gun it has a small place to slip in a combat knife, electronic interface with a 512 mb MP3 player, flashdrive, gives off a wireless signal, black with the words lucky on the side, and on the back of the bolt is a four leaf clover, the lines inbetween the body and the trigger frame are a lime green... ::sigh:: if only, if only. well thats what i want.

-Ten round spring fed removable mag that
-side tube
-45 frame with dye stickies?
-ball detent or compatable with phantom detent rings
-removable barrel would be nice or at least a mid size bore barrel
-30 shots at 280 would be a dream come true
-no shot drop off when firing bursts
-rear velocity.
-pneumatic not blowback
-easily convertable to vertical battle or bottom line for a small remote line
-multiple cheap tube style cips like the above mentioned
-coz drop out lever/knob changer located where it wold be on a pgp
-adjustable iron sights and the ability to mount a scope or sight if desired.
-well balanced
-reliable internals
-no excessive milling, I want a plain straight shooting paint machine
-brass or aluminum
-semi with light trigger pull
-comfy trigger shoe
So basically I want an Aluminum 2k1 pgp stroker with removable side tube mag an all the above features.

Fantastic.... Now I've gotta put one of these babies together. Sure would be worth it though. And after all, these ideas are coming from you. You love pistols like no other!
One of these would be a blast to play with as well.

Id like to try a stock CIP(box gun).

My perfect sidearm would be a custom 68 cal double action revolver. Easy to use, beautiful, and completely unique.

Yeah, but lately direct feed and constant air sheridans are looking really nice, because I like being able to sight directly down the top of the barrel. I really love my polished pgp w/ nasty pump and assault line stock(It helps quite a bit on longer range shooting and is easily removable.), but I have never been able to get used to sighting with a stockclass feed, hence the desired spring fed sidetube mag. I have thought about having my pgp sidetubed, but don't know if I would like it in a rock and cock format, however, if the feed plug was ramped so I wouldn't have to tilt it to the side I think I would do it. Summer project maybe? ;).

What to say that hasn't been said?
Not in order of significance...
1. Small
2. At least 7" inches of barrel, and a little porting (reduce turbulence)
3. Ability to sight down top of barrel
3a. Side tube or vertical spring feed.
4. 10+ ball capacity (hmmmm... dual vertical spring feeds and a rotating diverter?)
5. Efficiency!
6. ~2 lbs
7. Balance!
8. 12 gram fast change in grip
9. Easily convertible to backbottle CA
10. Closed bolt firing
11. Fast reload!!
12. Consistency
13. Left feed option, and yes, I am right handed
14. < $300
15. Quality, no plastic parts here
16. Trigger allowing trigger shoes
17. Reasonably light pull
Basically, a convertible feed PGP Stroker (although that eliminates #8... I can handle that) with improved balance, side tube feed, slightly improved efficiency, porting, and way less expensive. Easily $600? from Palmer's.

Combine that with the sidetube idea and that would be totally awesome. Dual sidetube; ten round; spring fed; mags with a easy way to switch from one tube to the other. -_- -_-

You mean the Tib8's don't meet your standards?!
KungFuHampster11 - March 19, 2006 04:24 AM (GMT)
I tihnk a top tube and side tube spring feed would be cool. Like use the top one and when it runs out twist something so you have the sidetube feeding it tilly our done reloading.

Was this addressed to me? Honestly, I've never used one. The price is pretty prohibitive for me, especially since I would want at least 3 clips. I bet it is a really nice marker, but if I am going to spend $400+, I think I want a Palmer's. Who knows, I may pick one up eventually.
Brimstone - March 20, 2006 02:49 AM (GMT)
pistoling is a much diffrnet game than stock class, be sure before you drop 400+ on a pistol you know what your getting yourself into
