Title: Michigan SCP Spring Gathering

swampthing - December 6, 2005 03:55 PM (GMT)
Not sure if this is the right forum for this, so mods please feel free to move.

I was looking at all of the members we have here in Michigan. Got to thinking that every one that is on the list probably knows at least one more stock player that is either not on the list or has not signed up for SCP, why I am not sure, but that is another story.

Anyhow, looking at the list made me think why not have an SCP gathering at my field in the spring, say on a Sunday in the middle of May. Weather permitting, I can have the place set up from the winter teardown in a week or so. Nice easy woodsball and village games. Just something to blow the dust off the guns and get the rust out of the knees. Technically, it would be prior to the season opening, so I could do BYOP. Air would be there, but BYO12g. Say $10 field fee, play all day. Maybe do a LMS tourney in the village, $5 entry, winner take all.

I'll have to look into the cost of a trip across the lake. I may be able to make it. I'll also try to rally scpWI for a carpool. But its still early.

swampthing - December 6, 2005 08:49 PM (GMT)
COOL! Out of staters. I know its early, but I put it up early so as to get a feel for the response. I think part of my problem is planning for this type of thing sorta last minute, cuts down on the turnout. Time to try a change of pace and get it out early. Hope you and some of your guys can make it.

Rayodder - December 6, 2005 10:38 PM (GMT)
Psst..... let me let you two on a well kept secret, April 22-23 in Bloomington Illonis is the SPE or Spring Pump Event, the biggest and friendlest pump event of it's kind, all organized by Spaceman613 himself.

SPE 2006 info

evil_brother - December 6, 2005 10:54 PM (GMT)
Where are you again? I might be able to go.

CrashSTP - December 7, 2005 01:28 AM (GMT)
just fixed your title Swampy. depending on date and schedule I might be able to make it

Sheazer - December 7, 2005 01:55 AM (GMT)
Might make that SPE thingy, 10 hr drive... road trip any of my fellow NYer's?

kejak28 - December 7, 2005 02:21 AM (GMT)
Us central Ohioians might be able to come up depending on where and our schedules. Raging Silence and Rare Faction you up for a road trip?

swampthing - December 7, 2005 01:52 PM (GMT)
In Order:

Rayodder: I knew there was an event about that time, just couldn't remember the exact date. At least they won't be clashing. Thanks for the link.

evil brother: About 3 hours north of you up I 75, exit 227, in Prudenville. Check the mapquest link on my website in my sig.

CrashSTP: Thanks, fat fingers+typing fast = TYPO. Tried to edit it , but couldn't change that part. Tenatively looking at either the 14th or the 21st of May. One day event. If it did happen on the 14th, weather permitting, I could actually set up a night game for the 13th, being a full moon.

Kejak28: Check my sig for the link to my page and hit mapquest link.

Now mind you guys, I put this up yesterday as a feeler. There are NO details set in stone yet. This will all depend on feedback as to whether or not there would be a decent turnout.

sledgebone - December 7, 2005 10:01 PM (GMT)
I would be up for it, probly be able to drag a few buddies there too. Im from the Bay City area

swampthing - December 12, 2005 01:04 AM (GMT)
Come on guys. I need the feedback here. I have two replies from MI and two from out of state. I was hoping for a few more replies from within the state.

sledgebone; Nice to hear from you. The more the merrier.

Had a thought. If I throw this event on the right weekend we may even be able to pull some full moon games in the village, depending on weather and whatnot. If so, there would be a small additional fee, no more than $5. Still up in the air though. There is free camping at the field and restaraunts within a couple of miles of the place. Mind you, the camping ain't EMR style with bunkhouses, and there is no electricity. But it is free.

vonort - December 12, 2005 01:37 AM (GMT)
I may be intrested in this. Coming from the Cincinnati area in OH. Would not be able to do it on the 14th, but could make the following weekend. Will know better after the first of the year and check on my traveling funds.

WilD - December 12, 2005 08:27 PM (GMT)
I may be able to come up from the Detroit area and bring my brother along too. I was going to try to make it to one of your games this year but never did. It all depends on the date and weather and anything else that might be going on at the time.

Midknight - December 13, 2005 01:05 AM (GMT)
I live in Northern Indiana and depending on specifics and what happens with my schedule I'd like to make it. I'm hoping to hit as many pump meetings as possible this coming year...early New Year's Resolution I am actually going to try and keep.

dockman - December 13, 2005 02:51 AM (GMT)
If I am still in the area I would be interested in comming, I am not to far away.

swampthing - December 14, 2005 10:04 PM (GMT)
Working on scheduling it. I am planning primarily just a rec day of Capture, Attack & Defend, Corners in the Village, defintiely some Last Man Standing, and a few others that shall remain unnamed. Is there anything in particular you guys would like to do? I am open to suggestions.

spaz66777 - December 15, 2005 01:52 AM (GMT)
I hope to be there with my girlfriend. We both use pumps and a 2 hours drive doesn't bother me that much.

evil_brother - December 15, 2005 03:00 AM (GMT)
If I can carpool with someone I (or we) might go.

swampthing - January 24, 2006 05:45 PM (GMT)

evil_brother - January 25, 2006 01:39 AM (GMT)
Ive asked my brothers and some friends and we might just carpool down there.
BTW, post this on MCB, there are tons of Michigan people and Damage Inc is over there as well.
And another BTW, do you have a pics of your fields?

swampthing - January 25, 2006 04:19 PM (GMT)
evil brother, for pics, just click the link in my sig. That gets you to my home page, then check under "Field Descriptions" & "Halls of Glory". Some of the pics are a couple years old and some things have changed, but mostly it is as you see it there.
I am planning on posting it there as well, but I wanted to get some feedback on the date first. Be good to see you guys there.

Boone - January 25, 2006 08:10 PM (GMT)
I'd love to try and make it, but no guarentees. It all depends on if school is out (I don't remember when it's over), when finals are, and when nremt testing is.

shmavistime - January 25, 2006 10:46 PM (GMT)
Also, you might want to put this in the mid-west events forum.

swampthing - January 26, 2006 11:48 PM (GMT)
Just put it up in the events forum. Looks like it is official.
May 20 gathering

stockclassballer - January 27, 2006 12:33 AM (GMT)
i could get a few guys to go.

AgentSmith - January 28, 2006 06:37 PM (GMT)
Thing, I'll definitely be there. I live just north of monroe so I'll probably drive up in my van. If anyone needs carpoolage, I'll keep checking back here and MCB.

Rob

swampthing - January 29, 2006 04:44 AM (GMT)
SWEET! Another Van-driving paintballer. How cool is that? See you there.

vonort - March 19, 2006 03:59 PM (GMT)
Quick FYI for your date. There are two major events going on that weekend in the area. Sherwood Forest has their GI Joe game. And I just saw that Dollack is running a game at Challenge Extreme Park. Just thought I would let you know. Dont know if it will effect your numbers or not.

swampthing - March 19, 2006 06:31 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I saw that after I chose the date. I am sure it will have some impact as I know Damage,Inc. (Repoman, Weltman and crew) will be at the Sherwood game. Hoping I can still get a decent turn out.

vonort - March 19, 2006 07:06 PM (GMT)
Well if you do the Saturday thing I might be able to make it. I really can't commit till close to the last minute. But would love to make it if I can. I checked my calendar and I don't have my son that weekend. So that is one factor out of the way. Next factor is money. Hopefully this event is a good sucess.

swampthing - March 22, 2006 09:20 PM (GMT)
vonort, yes it is going to be a Saturday. As for turn out, if half the people show that say they will and are bringing friends, it should be a good game.

shmavistime - March 23, 2006 12:49 AM (GMT)
I'd go with my brother if i went (evil-brother). Sounds cheap so id definitly be in if i can get out there. Do you allow .50? (crosmans)

evil_brother - March 23, 2006 02:14 AM (GMT)
Looks like we have th epossibility of carpooling with a few people. Looking good.

p8ntrjock5902 - June 1, 2007 01:03 PM (GMT)

Poor Octane89... There has been two games posted in the Regional Events section for Michigan this year already. The most recent being at Swampy's field just last month.
