"I am regretful to inform the fans that I have decided to step down as a member of Marilyn Manson , and see where my life , and the knowledge of my availability cares to take me . I can't stand by to watch opportunities pass me by simply because the knowledge of my availability wasn't clearly expressed by me . I wish my brothers well , and I expect nothing but great things from them . Sincerely , Ginger Fish"

What the fuck kind of statement is that? "Availability"?

what is he doing?!?!?!?

Gordy - March 1, 2011 12:55 PM (GMT)
you guys is this the high end of low were seeing? What has he turned into? I mean, it was hard enough to be a manson fan when he was good, since everybody who didn't have any idea that his music was actually good hated him purely for him image. Now he's just pathetic. That first video from the rock am sounded like a group of 12 year olds figuring out how the frets on a guitar work for the first time, and manson can barely sing through his hamster-cheek chin.

It's really funny/sad to compare the careers of Manson and trent. The other day TR won a fuckin oscar, while manson paraded around giving pointers on the German Karaoke Revolution variety hour. His music has gotten shittier by, like, orders of magnitude, winning the favor of only angsty pre/pubescents and die-hard fans (ynow, those guys who refuse to admit anything he does is bad), and he's still, somehow, convinced that its good. The lyrics are just silly, the kind of stuff a 9th grader writes in his diary after his girlfriend breaks up with him, and there's really very little musical creativity or production to speak of. With Trent, i think it's fair to say that he reacted to the criticism of the people who didn't appreciate his stuff, even when it was good, and showed that he could do it on par with what they wanted to hear while still doing something he himself could be proud of, and consequentially ended up replacing a lot of the "angst" that people noted in his older stuff with more politically driven lyrics, so that he doesn't outgrow himself, and he can still hate on all the shit he wants because it's actually legitimized.

Manson, on the other hand, has become far less original and much more derivative of other shitty music, and even of his older stuff, but he hasn't been able to reproduce things to that level of quality because its not coming from the same place. Its like he peaked, then was like, no, I'm still just as good as I always was, see? and then he makes something that sounds like it could have been a rejected, unfinished b-side from mechanical animals. He recognizes where he stands in the grand scheme of all things musical, and he's been given a certain place of honor since I do think he's recognized now more than ever for his contribution to music (especially since so many of the people that grew up listening to him and were inspired by him have now put out their own music that is more "pop audience friendly" and he is a recognized influence there) so, ynow, hes been given his get out of shitty music jail free card, but at the same time he's hardly as cutting edge or controversial as he once was, but he looks at the people who push the envelope today in a similar way as he did 10 years ago (like Lady Gaga for instance) and is like, yeah, im still that guy, but then he comes off as an overweight jackass wearing a stupid undone tie and too much smeared makeup, saying dumb corny stuff and telling people they wanna fuck him and, yeah, he'll let them, and its just kinda sad.

yes this is indeed the high end of low and i totally second that. I think the only way he could shock anyone now is by doing a fake christian record with nothing but happy melodic songs with a positive message and all that bullshit. Basically alienating anyone who has ever shown him a pubic hair of respect for his musical career. Apparently he is working on yet another album due out the end of the year. Like last time im hoping for the best but expecting the worse. I mean i know it will suck, but that wont stop me from giving it a fair listen just because its Manson. I think personally think its been downhill since he covered Tainted Love, not to mention that nauseating video. But it really shows how good his first 5 albums (yes i count Smells like Children) are, in contrast with the shit he does now. The past few weeks ive been beasting on old Manson.

have you guys heard goon moon (twiggy's post-nin and apc, pre-mm reunion solo project)? I don't understand why he doesn't just do another album like that, except with manson doing vocals over it. it wouldn't be shocking or relevant, but it would be respectable and possibly even good. twiggy's an idiot, but he clearly has some ear for good music. it has to be manson's fault that the new album sucks so bad.

antichrist superstar is the only manson cd i really like anymore, and it even has tons of filler, and even the best songs (reflecting god, kinderfeld, etc) are a little repetitive.

I feel like I must've heard it but have long since forgotten it. Time4torrentz. And yeah, I completely believe manson is responsible for the progressively more shitty stuff, thats why everybody leaves, except for twiggy because he's got cccccccccchummus for brains but, as you say, has an ear for music, though he seems to bounce between being able to play and, well, not being able to play.

I'm with eden as still being a fan of the first five, with smelly children. Hell I'll even admit to liking a few (2, i think) songs off of golden showers. But I honestly cant even listen to anything after that. AC is definitely my favorite, but every year for the past few years, on valentines day, I can't help but remember the good times, the before times. Though I don't think I could listen straight through them like I used to, I think my tolerance for the bad and bad filler songs has sufficiently worn out.

WOW. Believe it or not, this crap is official.

Matty G - March 8, 2011 10:09 PM (GMT)
the apple of sodom video is pretty awesome. i always thought that song was underrated.

the antichrist video is probably real, although it's not really a full video, since it's basically the same idea as the cryptorchid video set to a different song. i'm not entirely convinced it's 100% real; it looks like it could have been pieced together from outtakes from the cryptorchid video, plus new stock footage.

either way, good find

Nine Inch Nails' second full-length album, The Downward Spiral, entered the Billboard 200 chart in 1994 at number two,[21] and remains the highest-selling Nine Inch Nails release in the United States.[18] To record the album, Reznor rented and moved into the 10050 Cielo Drive mansion, site of the 1969 Manson Family murders.[22] Reznor built a studio space in the house, which he renamed Le Pig, after the word that was scrawled on the front door in Sharon Tate's blood by her murderers.[22] Reznor told Entertainment Weekly that despite the notoriety attached to the house, he chose to record there because, "I looked at a lot of places, and this just happened to be the one I liked most".[22]

I honestly never knew that. amazing

Matty G - March 9, 2011 07:43 PM (GMT)
That's where they recorded Portrait and Antichrist Superstar. Then Trent sold the mansion, stole the front door, and moved to New Orleans and didn't do shit but tons of coke and "Deep" for the next three years.

it's all in the manson autobiography man. except for the trent part.

hehe

Okay, those first 2 videos are great, and obviously to really good songs. Then I started watching the wow video, and I was down with it for the first 45 or so seconds, then I actually started paying attention to what i was being subjected to.

and
In 1996, Merhige was contacted by Marilyn Manson in regards to producing a music video for "Cryptorchid", the day after he saw Merhige's experimental horror film Begotten. Manson and Merhige met in Los Angeles, California where they would produce the "Cryptorchid" video. Merhige also expressed interest in filming a video for "Antichrist Superstar", but wanted to use a bulk of footage outtake that he had already compiled. He shot excess material featuring Manson, then put it together with the pre-existing scenes.[1]

so that settles that. You can definitely tell it's the same basic concept and similar footage as cryptorchid. Also, I don't know why, but Cryptorchid was always like my fav track on AC. I always had to listen to that track twice twice, probably since its pretty short.

Its SO long, If you sat through that whole thing then I'm impressed. The best way to watch the video is to let it load, then watch the intro, the just skip around to random parts and see where she's gotten, and how the lyrics of the song top it all off. Then once you're done, just finish it off with the last 30 seconds or so of the video.

And yeah she looks like she should be a character in candyland. She looks like she suffered an accident while on a tour of willy wonka's candy factory.

Based on that video, I honestly believe that someone must have sat him down and explained how the internet works. The sad thing is is that everything he says is true. So many people are buying his garbage off of itunes... just to mock it. Clearly buying his shit is dumb as fuck, but man... he's probably set for at least a few years.

I miss the good ol days of rap where the "hatters" were rival gangs and instead of celebrating them accompanied by atonal riffs and poorly constructed and repetitive lyrics, you just sorta rolled up on in em and laid em down, and sang about doing that. Now bangs is actually addressing the mindless, childish mass of the internets youtube face and acknowledging the dialog that goes on between youtube "artist" and critic/commentator. Very meta, but more importantly it makes the point that bangs has the upper hand in this conflict.
