JUDAS PRIEST ALBUM DETAILS

Blabbermouth.net exclusively reports that Judas Priest have set "Angel Of Retribution" as the title of their brand-new album, now due on March 1, 2005 (February 28, 2005 internationally) via Sony/Epic Records.

Songs slated to appear on the CD include "Judas Rising", "Deal With The Devil", "Revolution", "Worth Fighting For" and "Hellrider". The first single from the album is expected to be "Revolution", although this could change between now and the song's projected radio impact date.

According to a Blabbermouth.net source who has heard the aforementioned tracks, "This album is unmistakably Judas Priest...no other band sounds quite like them. The songs we've heard pay tribute to classic Priest albums of years gone by, yet have a fully modern sound as well. This is pure metal and it sounds huge."

The initial shipment of the CD will include a bonus DVD filmed during the band's June shows in Barcelona and Valencia, Spain. A European tour in support of the album will kick off in late February.

What is the direction that the CD is going in?

It is difficult to put into words but the people that are eagerly awaiting it will not be disappointed. It has the speed and ferocity of songs like 'Painkiller' and 'Freewheel Burning', the passion and the drama of songs like 'The Sentinel' and 'Sinner' and nice slow ballad pieces plus a few new twists because the band always has its ear to the ground of the current scene.


FORMER MAIDEN SINGER ATTACKED

Just two days after the murder of Damageplan's Dimebag Darrel and three others during a concert in Ohio, it appears that another metal musician may have been attacked onstage, reports AntiMusic. Former Iron Maiden lead vocalist Paul Di'Anno was reportedly attacked by a crazed fan during his appearance Friday at the Heavy Metal Monsters melodic metal festival in Tel Aviv, Israel.

The fan jumped onstage during Di'Anno's performance and "lashed out" at the singer. Di'Anno reportedly only suffered minor injuries and was able to complete his set.

Paul Di'Anno was the lead singer of Iron Maiden from 1977 until late 1981 when he was replaced by Bruce Dickinson. Di'Anno appeared on the group's first two major label studio releases 1979's Iron Maiden and 1980's Killers as well as the 1981 live EP Maiden Japan and the group's self released "Soundhouse Tapes".
