Title: GWAR's new album
Description: kicks ass
Eden - October 27, 2004 02:04 AM (GMT)
i just purchased the new gwar album called war party. and i must say that it kicks ass. its an excelent sequel to violence has arrived. and if you put it in the computer you can watch the video for "womb with a view" its a great video. The video pretty much sums up the Gwar show that me, matty, nibby and lee attended. its got most of the stuff we saw that night, and it fucken kicks ass. and also this has got to be the heaviest and most brutal Gwar album to date. it kicks ass. :ultra metal nation:

the first 3 tracks kinda suck ass then it gets a lot better. track 5 and 6 are awsome, and the rest of the album is pretty good too.

I love how a Gwar discussion escalates into "what are you doing for RIders of Odin, Nilky?"
Matty G - October 25, 2010 04:28 AM (GMT)
I would say that while Iced Earth are certainly more technically proficient, they are definitely more generic and occasionally (i.e. everything since Tim Owens) absolutely crappy when compared to the Dickers, who I feel are more artistically valid in that sense.
Lee - October 25, 2010 03:41 PM (GMT)
All i know is I used to think the Dickies were a silly band. And that Iced Earth had nothing silly about them.
Since Tim Owens I can honestly say Iced Earth has surpassed the Dickies in sillyness. Not only did they release an album based on American war history, then 2 shitty sequels to the something wicked album, and an overpriced best of box set that will be their 3rd best of collection yet.
Oh, and Jon Schaffer's new band, 'Sons of Liberty' which is musically non existent, with lyrics all about revolting against the American Govt to the point where it sounds reminiscent of Jesse Ventura's Conspiracy Theory TV show; which obviously ended up being the opening act for this past Iced Earth tour. Their past few years have just been a big ball of silly. And that's what you get when you take yourself too seriously. It just backfires.
The only reason why the Dickies aren't that silly is because they would never take themselves that seriously. They obviously don't give a fuck, are much more laid back guys who are more in touch with their sense of humor. Not to mention the silliest mack of all, Leonard Graves Philips, who I would personally rather smoke a blunt with over anyone in Iced Earth. Especially jon Schaffer. ESPECIALLY Matt Barlow.
And Rob Trujilo looks kinda like Jeff Goldblum in that pic

Yo Eden, you totally ripped Nile's asshole in half in this thread.
I dunno if you guys would be interested, but I just got the new Kid Cudi album, and it's pretty tight. Pure pothead rap, although this album sounds more like Aphex Twin and Nine Inch Nails than Daft Punk or whatever these kids in Brooklyn listen to nowadays.

In 2009 Mustaine was named the No. 1 player in Joel McIver's book The 100 Greatest Metal Guitarists. As he told Classic Rock magazine in September 2009: "It was especially sweet when I found out that Joel has written books on Metallica... Every page I turned, I became more excited. I get to No.15 and it’s Kirk Hammett, and I thought, ‘Thank you, God’. At that point it didn’t matter [which position I was]. To be better than both of them [James Hetfield and Hammett] meant so much – it’s been one of the pet peeves of my career and I’ve never known how to deal with it... All I thought was… I win!"

Six months before this, Mustaine posted this open letter on his MySpace:
Metallica as you know has been selected to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. So, it is with much respect that I say "congratulations!"
I also had the nice surprise of hearing that they called to invite me to the pre-ceremony party the night before, and then to the actual ceremony. Unfortunately as you all know, I will be winding down our European tour with Judas Priest so I will be unable to attend.
However, I'd like to say to Lars and James, "I am so very proud of all you have accomplished. I will continue to pray for the very best for you and your families as I always have."
Thank you for the invitation and thinking of me. Respectfully yours,
Dave Mustaine

what a kook
as if the state of the suburban, white, teenaged heavy metal community isn't already fucked enough, here comes Jon Schaffer to make them all into paranoid neoconservative teabaggers
also, that little clip of "sons of liberty" at the end of the interview section is atrocious, why did that guy think it was a good idea to sing
right now I'm literally 20 minutes away from where jon schaffer was born.

Worst NIN single?
GO!
My vote goes to Survivalism
Gordy - February 13, 2011 07:03 PM (GMT)
Do you mean single as in song or as in cd/album/halo release? Either way i think my choice hands down would be starf(s)uckers inc. Really just broke the vibe of the fragile for me. I like the saul williams remix of survivalism... though I think thats conveniently left off the single... I think that might have been on the year zero remixed cd and consequently been the only thing worthwhile off of that cd, but I honestly dont even remember if I actually even listened to the other remixes or not.
Matty G - February 13, 2011 10:28 PM (GMT)
Single as in songs that had official single releases with official videos made for them. So (this is from memory, so it might be complete):
Down In it
Head Lika whole
sin
wish
happiness inslay, very
closer
march of zee pigs
Boo-ern
Perfect Doug
try to save myself but myself keeps slipping
we're in this together now
Starstinkers & Co.
deep
Hand that feeds
Jerry Only
survivalism
Capital Gee
survivalism
discipline
there are some other songs that are technically singles, and other ones that technically had videos, but these are the real ones as far as i'm concerned
Eden - February 14, 2011 04:40 AM (GMT)
im gonna go with the hand that feeds. i was never really a fan of that song from the beginning.
