Title: Best Manson CD
Nil B - August 23, 2003 10:28 PM (GMT)
I would have to say golden age because it's so different than all the others and a very unexpected theme and great music that was different but still the same thats why i think its the best

golden age is the best, you say? in my opinion its definitely the worst. think about it, theres no real message in the lyrics and a few songs like from para-noir to better of two evils i mean i could live without those songs. for some reason the only tracks i can listen to without wanting to skip them is from 4-10. and then vodevil on 14. alot of the lyrics and melodies are really rappy also.
my favorite used to be portrait but its kinda old still an awsome cd but my current favorites would be mechanical animals and holywood and since holywood is longer with more variety (except for disposable teens the most butchered song in the world) i chose holywood.

I agree with Squally. I voted for Holy Wood. In my opinion Portrait and Holywood are very similar, however the themes are slightly different. Holy Wood is more mature that Porttrait, not that being slightly immature on portrait was a bad thing. I chose Holywood, but it's definitely tied with Portrait in my book. Antichrist is a close second, and Mech. and GAOG are tied for last.
Oh yeah, and the theme for GAOG is way better than the actual cd is. The problem is, the songs are all very similar, there's no overall theme to the actual music, and it doesn't really have many messages. You just have to realize that Manson meant this cd to embrace the shitiness and decadence of our society from 1920's germany to today. The lyrics definitely reflect that.
that doesn't make GAOG any better, though.

GAOG kicks ass. matty g and I recently analyzed the diference between Herr Doktor and Arch Dandy. Arch Dandy is the manson with the mickey mouse ears. Herr Doktors alter ego. its like a jeykle and hyde thing.
and the thing about obsequey the death of art is that it is two voices at once. one is saying some peotry and the other is food pyramid.
Nil B - November 9, 2003 04:19 AM (GMT)
im think the 2 voices represent arch dandys childlike innocense and the poetry is like the maturity of Herr doctor
also matt i disagree i think the GAOG music is better than the theme
Matty G - November 9, 2003 04:48 PM (GMT)
I made this observation awhile ago, and Allly agrees with it.
Herr Doktor is the Manson we've all grown up with and loved. He's the poetic, mature, blah blah blah. Arch dandy is the Rock Star, nihilist, sex and drug addict, embrace-all-that-is-causing-damage-to-the-world darker side of Manson.
Oh, and look at the booklet. Every song whose title is written in grey is narrated by Herr Doktor. Every one with a red title is narrated by ol Archy-buns. the songs with both are either conversations, split personalities or double narrations, I'm not sure which.
OH yeah, and the theme is better than the music. the music was meant to be basic, slightly repetitive, not-too-genius entertainment. not as traditionally Manson, if you ask me. but the theme is basically a more mature Portrait; almost punk rock.

ooo i get it that makes GAOG have a little bit of a story like the 3 before it. i can see how u can compare to portriat since there the only 2 not in the AC-MA-HW storyline

i was looking at some vinyls with matty G and squall. and I came across the POAF limited edition 2 disc vinyl imported from europe.
