Title: FF7 Ultima Edition
Kid - April 19, 2005 10:32 PM (GMT)
I found this on a site and I was curious what exactly it was. I haven't found any actual information on it, aside from it being a minor graphical update of FF7. Anyone know if that's all it is or what?

heard of it, myself. it must be like all the other FF [insert new name] remakes they're doing, i mean, they've got like 4 versions of the first 2 FF's

I think its just FF 7 with some things in the story line interchangeable. (like for example, when that guy dies...(I DONT KNOW his NAME!!! havent played ff7 in 5 1/2 years_) in the Ultima edition you can have a chance to revive him and play the game through with him as well in your party or something.

My point for asking was that FF 7 was going to be remade, but wasn't. At least the idea died as far as the states/europe was concerned and there was no mention of it happening in Japan as far as I'd heard. For us, it was supposed to include "all new content" which was a pretty way of them saying they actually finished the game for U.S.. Aside from being kind of blocky compared to todays standards of games, fmv's not included, I can't think of why they would bother remaking the game just for Japan.
If I can find a working torrent, I'll look at it.
The link doesn't help since the only one that at least remotely seems to know what he's talking about seems to not really have looked at it. The only thing they agree on was replacing Aries with 'Suki', and renaming Sephiroth. It's starting to sound more like some random jackass edited the game as a joke, but I'll just have to find out on me own.

Okay.. so I downloaded it and played through and any claims from the first guys linked topic seems to be bull. It looks more like some people got together and shrunk the file size to make it easier to play, applied a bunch of official and non-official patches to it to make it playable in XP, and that's about it. If there is any plans to remake FF7, advent children not withstanding, this "ultima edition" is not it. Anyone know if there's a finished international version out with english to it? I've been pissy about FF7 every since the first time I realized it was incomplete.
