Almighty_Gir - April 18, 2005 08:52 AM (GMT)
looking good, but guts is more tanned than that!, in the manga, it says he might be from the tudor bloodline, which would make him kinda arabic i guess, but its never explicitly explained...

to clarify to everyone, he didnt draw them, hes just colouring scenes from the manga.

BrownMan - April 18, 2005 06:54 PM (GMT)
hes darker than that? I thought at first colouring him as dark as caska.....but then.... lol now THAT is dark.

Crabsmasher - April 19, 2005 12:12 AM (GMT)
Nice coloring, i wish I had a newer version of photoshop and was that good! Grand job my freind.

BrownMan - April 19, 2005 12:17 AM (GMT)
thank you!

Bolshoi - April 19, 2005 01:14 AM (GMT)
very good. I kinda like the look before the enhancement more than after, but that's just me.

Heyjohnny - April 19, 2005 01:34 AM (GMT)
Whats he sitting on?

Almighty_Gir - April 19, 2005 04:17 AM (GMT)
in that scene, hes sitting on a hill. looks like a scene shortly after his first duel with griffith. am i right?

BrownMan - April 19, 2005 04:33 PM (GMT)
its at the part where griffith is....well I guess weak. when hes in the carriage. just before the behelith screams and stuff

redone:

Almighty_Gir - April 19, 2005 05:53 PM (GMT)
ahhh its been a while since i read that early in the manga... im up to after guts has his enchanted armour >;]

i dont like that filter >_< it doesnt fit the style of the drawing.

Knives101 - April 19, 2005 07:45 PM (GMT)
 you mean it is too colorful and not dark and dire..?

the what now? :D hush dont ruin! heh

Heyjohnny - April 20, 2005 05:36 AM (GMT)
well....i think that that filter is perfect for that picture. I think your a great artist Brownman, and yes...i know he didn't draw it (almighty gir can't allow people to have too much recognition....it's called jealousy) but he's still a good artist.

Almighty_Gir - April 20, 2005 07:11 AM (GMT)
i think you, johnny, are walking a very fine line, and suggest you take a step back, especially since youve not even seen any of my 2d work.

and being a mahoosive fan of berserk, it was my oppinion that the filter doesnt match the style of the lineart.

Why do you have to be an ass? gir is just throwing criticism, just because somene doesn't kiss someone elses ass doesn't mean they're being jealous, grow the hell up.

And I agree, I've never watched beserk but have seen way too many screenshots of the anime (thanks gir >_>)(your welcome Mango - Almighty_gir) and it is good nonehteles, but it just looks awkward.

dont use filters. Using filters when you can do it manually is like speaking lies, the more you do it, the less you know.

In photoshop, do everything you can manually, it will help you learn. And always try and implement new tools. this will help you out as well. ;)

Unless you meant to say actions instead of filters, I can't really agree with you. Sure, you can use the basic tools to replicate the effect of a filter, but it's like saying you should crawl on your hands and knees when you could just take a car. Actions, on the other hand, really do diminish your skills.

Wow Brown, those are pretty nice! I really like the filtered one...the blur effect makes it much cooler :D

And kids, let's not have this thread turn into a flame war. KTHNXBAI

thanks kresin. that helps a lot. I will look more into manual work rather than cheating myself.

Kresin - April 22, 2005 09:31 PM (GMT)
no, that is illogical, you should take shortcuts when nessisary, but dont abuse them. with your car analagy, if you could walk to and fro your commute each day rather than drive, you would become more physically fit by doing so. driving would make you lazy and might help you in your efforts to become overweight. basically if you have to go too far out of your way to not take the easy way, then use the shortcut, but if you could get along by doing a little more work doing it the hard way, go for that. Im not saying either way is wrong or anything like that, but its best to take the challenge, it results in greater rewards.

BrownMan - April 23, 2005 12:53 AM (GMT)
heh yeah that too

Knives101 - April 23, 2005 08:58 AM (GMT)
 Brown seeing as how you've knocked and poked and other wise prodded this filter subject, I was wonder'n if by chance you've redone the picture in another filter or scheme(don't ask I have no idea how photo shop works cause I don't have it).

BrownMan - April 23, 2005 09:17 PM (GMT)
yes just for you :D :

ok I found out another way of shading lol! was just fooling around with tools in photoshop. Now Im not going to shade with just the airbrush. will post new colouring soon

Almighty_Gir - May 4, 2005 12:44 PM (GMT)
the reason i dont like the filters is cos they conflict with the way the art is shaded (straight black lines).

Crabsmasher - May 4, 2005 01:10 PM (GMT)
Your latest there is nice, good job...
