Title: Guild Wars
Description: Best...MMO...ever.

Knives - March 17, 2005 10:55 PM (GMT)
I preordered this game for Christmas and got my preorder box today at EB B) It's great, comes with music, artwork, a poster, and my weekend keys (sorry, already given the invite a friend key to someone else.) Is anyone else going to play in the beta weekend that starts tomorrow? If so I would really like to go item or monster hunting with you! Lemme know.

Yea... I played on the Last BETA Weekend. A friend of mine gave me a "Beta Event Friend's Pass", so I could try it out.
I've ordered the Pre Version, gonna get it tomorrow so I can play this weekend.
Its a great game, really.

Account Name: Kelldath Ormlyr (I think. But since it was from a Friend's Pass, I think I'll have to start on a new one).

Knives - March 17, 2005 11:30 PM (GMT)
No, you should still be able to keep it.

I'll be registering tomorrow as Ryoushi Kaibutsu. I'll be looking for you :D

Crabsmasher - March 19, 2005 03:29 AM (GMT)
I've heard alot of good things about this game, If my computer was any good I would pre-order it.

Knives101 - March 19, 2005 07:02 AM (GMT)
 SWEET! I've post a topic on every forum I've been to you guys are the first people in a forum I've seen to actually know anything about this game. I preorderd it last month and eagerly await its release for next month, unfortunately I don't have a username yet though.

Duranix - March 19, 2005 07:04 AM (GMT)
its like... $5 to preorder it. You get the weekend beta keys, and then when the time comes, on april the 28th (1 day after my birthday), you pay for the rest of the game.

Knives101 - March 19, 2005 07:50 AM (GMT)
 When I paid for it at Gamestop, I just went ahead and paid for the whole thing.

Knives - March 19, 2005 08:28 AM (GMT)
Wow, I just got done after playing this game for nearly 5 hours straight...oh my goodness. SOO good. Seriously, it's like Diablo but more addictive and with beautiful graphics and vast landscapes, even on my crappy laptop. The game also has almost no lag, surprising considering I get 4k/s download speed. Here's a screenshot from the game:

That's me fighting B) As you can tell from this screenshot, the game explodes with color and the worlds are really detailed. Very pretty game that's a lot of fun to play.

Knives101 - March 19, 2005 10:33 AM (GMT)
 I think the most appealing aspect is that there is NO SUBSCRIPTION FEE, that is the main deturrent to me for all the other MMORPGS out there, I personally see no reason why I should keep paying for a game after I've bought it. Hey Knives what do you think the best class is, seeing as how you've had some playing experience?

Khilandar DraGonFisT - March 19, 2005 12:39 PM (GMT)
this is one MMO game i will actaully get (just bcoz it hasnt got monthly fee :P)

Frog - March 19, 2005 12:42 PM (GMT)
Yes... it’s free. But every 6th month a new Expansion will be released. You don't HAVE to buy it, but it is sure recommended. And most MMORPGs' uses either a monthly fee or a 6month fee.
See, where I’m going?

Knives - March 19, 2005 06:11 PM (GMT)
Yeah no monthly fee=best idea ever.

As for my favorite class, it's pretty hard to decide. Right now I am a Level 4 Ranger with no secondary, and my friend is a Level 4 Necromancer Primary, Ranger Secondary. His Necro skills are awesome; Vampire is my favorite cause it heals you while damaging the enemy, plus you can revive dead monsters (I think.) I really like the ranger since I can use a bow and train animals. Elementalists seem to be pretty good as well, as the one I traveled with earlier was super powerful.

Knives101 - March 19, 2005 08:00 PM (GMT)
 what are the big differences of having a duel class opposed to having a single one?

Knives - March 19, 2005 08:56 PM (GMT)
Having two is definitely the way to go. It gives you more abilities and allows you to be more versatile in a group. It's not very easy, though, you have to find different people in the game world and complete a quest for them to get a sec. The person you go to depends on the class you want.

I just got my secondary, so now I'm a Level 4 Ranger/Elementalist.

Frog - March 19, 2005 10:37 PM (GMT)
I'm a level 12 Warrior/Elementalist.

Have you tried the Guild Wars PvP system. Its quite fun. You siege eachother's Guild Halls/Castles. But there are many types, I think.

Bodom - March 20, 2005 05:42 AM (GMT)
i find myself too addicted to World of Warcraft to even give guild wars the proper attention. However, they had an open beta in like october of last year that i played on, it was really fun. I'll prolly end up buying this game once its released too

GmMontex03 - March 21, 2005 07:53 AM (GMT)
I want to get it...how much does it cost?

Chuckles - March 21, 2005 08:32 PM (GMT)
Well, you have to pay the initial purchase fee, and from there, you can play online for free... (If I recall correctly)

Knives101 - March 21, 2005 11:02 PM (GMT)
Direct Qoute from Guild Wars Official site message boards;
Question
Will you ever charge a monthly fee for Guild Wars? Is it possible that you will someday change your policy of "no subscription fee" and have a fee in the future? How do you offer this game without a subscription fee?

Answer
There is no subscription fee for Guild Wars anywhere in the world. The game was built from the ground up with this factor in mind, and we do not intend to change the policy. In fact, we have invested a great deal of time and resources to develop a network that will allow us to promise that there will be no fees in the future. This is what we want as developers, and what we want as gamers. Our model, offering a new chapter in the Guild Wars saga every six to nine months, will sustain the game and will enable us to support the free online play. These chapters will always be optional, and you will be able to continue to play with your friends regardless of your decision to purchase the newer chapter.

In some areas of the world, paying a subscription fee may be an option for some players. For instance, this may be a choice offered to those who play at gaming centers or game cafés. But anyone, anywhere in the world, will have as one option the ability to play without a subscription fee, and of course to have access to all content in that manner.

So yes NO FEE EVER

GmMontex03 - March 22, 2005 04:02 AM (GMT)
Yea, but how much does it cost to buy the game. I checked EB and it said 19.99, anywhere cheaper?

Knives101 - March 22, 2005 08:28 AM (GMT)
 the games not even out yet, not till the end of next month, some morons selling his beta version probably

Knives - March 23, 2005 03:16 AM (GMT)
$10 preorder (which gets you the weekend key) and standard price of $40-50 when it comes out, including however much you lay down on your preorder.

GalaxyFalcon - March 23, 2005 11:58 PM (GMT)
ive had my eye on guildwars since, well, not long after it was announced. It looks really awsome. im gonna order myself a copy when we upgrade to a newer pc w/Cable. Do you have to choose realistic names? if so, neat, have BlackHole460 just doesnt get you into the game spirit. Actually, if the gameplay rules, then this is potentially a moneymaker. with no monthly fees, they will snah a p2p drained market, and everyone is going to want to support it, and buy releases and special features, etc. Anyway, in 2 months or so i should be able to get it! cant wait.

BrownMan - March 24, 2005 02:48 AM (GMT)
wait...so you're telling me this will definitely not have a monthly fee? then I should get it.....but please make sure guys. I m not as rich as Knives there

Knives101 - March 24, 2005 04:30 AM (GMT)
 Don't know which of us you were refering to, but I don't think either of us are all that far out of the poor house. Guild Wars home site is where if you need ABSOLUTE PROOF THAT I'M NOT YANK'N YOUR CHAIN about the no subscription fee.

Direct link to the Support and Q&A page about the monthly fee, it should answer all your questions if you have more make a account name and ask them. I know for sure there won't be a fee though.

BrownMan - March 24, 2005 05:32 AM (GMT)
yessss! It would sure look good on my nvidia 256mb card. :ph43r:

Knives101 - March 24, 2005 09:49 PM (GMT)
 its leet speak, I find it annoying, if anyone else does raise your hand.

Moogle Man - March 24, 2005 10:18 PM (GMT)
lol brown isn't speaking 1337, he's speaking an odd derivative known as n00b XD

Knives101 - March 24, 2005 10:46 PM (GMT)
 eh still in the same style, and is still annoying.

rpgfan3233 - March 25, 2005 03:53 AM (GMT)
/\/() |D|2()|3[]_3/\/\ |3|2()\/\//\//\/\@/\/ (sorry, I don't know the standards for n00b, just 1337 :P)

Actually, Knives101, it's a bit more complicated. 1337 is easy. I'll post the same response as I did up there:
N0 PR0813M (basic 1337)
|\|0 |*|20813|V| (more confusing, but my fav.)

The last one is sort of what n00b comes from, I think. It seems the only difference is that you can't use ANY letters, only numbers and symbols.

Edit: BM used a "G". :P

Knives - March 25, 2005 05:38 AM (GMT)
n00b and 1337 are totally different. n00b sounds a lot like this:

liek zOMG j00 a3r t3h sux!!!!11eighty-seven!=Oh my god, you suck. 87. (nix that last part lol)

and 1337:

J00|2 |)4|)|)`/=Your daddy.

Knives101 - March 25, 2005 07:08 AM (GMT)
 .... okay let me refrase what I said, its annoying because I can't understand or know what your saying.

GmMontex03 - March 25, 2005 09:57 AM (GMT)
Could someone pm me how to speek(well, rather type) either language so I can understand when it does happen. other than that, it is pritty anoying. I wont type in it, but would just like to know how to read it. Thanks.
