Title: Radical Dreamers
Description: Anyone played it?

Wiesty - February 3, 2005 01:54 PM (GMT)
Have any of you ever played Radical Dreamers. It is suppose to finish off the Chrono Trigger Story, but it seeme to set up the story for Chrono Cross more. Kid Serge and gill or something forget the name, are on an adventure to Lynx's Castle in which they must find the Frozen Flame (A piece of lavos's shell).

It is a text based adventure story where you must choose where you go. It has a dark, and almost scary story line to it. but nethertheless a pretty good game

Narles - February 3, 2005 02:07 PM (GMT)
I've played Radical Dreamers. It was in english too.

Marcel - February 3, 2005 02:42 PM (GMT)
I thought they made it pretty obvious the third character is Magus. It's been a while though....

Janus - February 4, 2005 01:38 PM (GMT)
I want to play it again , I ended it only once , I feel so small with that *cry*
I liked the damn thing an awful lot.

The Mango - February 4, 2005 09:46 PM (GMT)
Meh, it was alright, nothing too fun.

WolfPack - February 5, 2005 04:00 AM (GMT)
The first ending was ok, but the other 8 were weird.

Marcel - February 7, 2005 02:47 PM (GMT)
Radical Dreamers has EIGHT different endings?

I HAVE to play that again

Sir_Crono531 - February 7, 2005 03:53 PM (GMT)
god i hated this game so much, i hate text-based games, and stuff like it. It just annoys me to extreme. Like at first I didn't know it was text-based, and you know i was like awesome, a sequal to chrono trigger (when i heard that it was) and i downloaded it and was completely dissapointed. Radical dreamers dares to compare its simple text based SPAM, with the complexity and graphical adventures of Chrono Trigger? whats up with that? I say this world is gonna end with stupidity and mockery. (sorry bout the spam, its just that well, its true)

WolfPack - February 9, 2005 03:55 AM (GMT)
I too was hoping for something better, even though it was text. But it turned out like the whole game was on LSD.

GmMontex03 - February 10, 2005 07:37 AM (GMT)
Can i get a link to the english version of the game?

Vash72 - February 11, 2005 02:34 PM (GMT)
Sure, here is a link to the patch needed to translate the rom and thus play the game Radical Dreamers Patch - by Sourceforge, I can't provide you with a link to the rom though out of respect, for this boards rules .......... ;)

To use the patch you will also need to use a IPS Patcher of some description. I would recommend IPS-win .........

Cheers,

Vash

GmMontex03 - February 11, 2005 04:31 PM (GMT)
Thanks. Ill try to find the rom.

WolfPack - February 12, 2005 03:07 AM (GMT)
If you can't find it, let me know and i'll e-mail it to you.

Alezunde - February 12, 2005 03:17 AM (GMT)
I don't know what happened with RD.
It was CT - then something COMPLETELY different.
I think that's why Chrono Cross was so different from Chrono Trigger - they were trying to tie it in with Radical Dreamers too.

WolfPack - February 12, 2005 03:23 AM (GMT)
Well CC was more of a remake of RD. And it shows. lol.

GmMontex03 - February 12, 2005 04:14 AM (GMT)
If you had read the section on chronocompendium, all three games are tied togeather, so heres the link to it. Read the whole thing, itl make sence as you go further.

http://www.chronocompendium.com/Term/Complete_Chronology
-OR-
http://www.chronocompendium.com/text/chronology.txt

Both are basically saying the same thing. It starts easy, but dont just read the middle or the end, youll miss out on vital information.

And wolfpack, can you send me the link please, thank you.

Correction. Radical Dreamers was turned into CC. Hence, CC is a remake of RD.

Chrono2005 - February 13, 2005 09:43 PM (GMT)

WolfPack - February 15, 2005 12:39 AM (GMT)
*Sent copy to GmMontex03*

GmMontex03 - February 15, 2005 03:49 AM (GMT)
Thanks, i got the copy, but ill have to find time to play it. Work is picking back up after the big rain we had in cali last month and we are just ending our down season, so ill be a bit busy, especially since im trying to get a second job. Ill let you know what i think of it when i get a chance to go through it.

Wiesty - February 15, 2005 02:02 PM (GMT)
but square knew just as well they were going to make chrono cross, so they made a game to set up the story, RD was not a big project, it was a side project as Chrono Cross began

GmMontex03 - February 15, 2005 04:42 PM (GMT)
RD was made within a year of CT, and wasnt really a RPG, but more of a choose your own adventure game. Square didnt start on CC untill a few years later. I dont think that Square had CC in mond when they made RD, eventhough it provided some of the elements for CC. The entire game takes place in Vipers Manor.

WolfPack - February 19, 2005 06:11 AM (GMT)
Which makes it all the more weird.

btw, where in Ca are ya? I'm in north Ca.

GmMontex03 - February 19, 2005 07:02 AM (GMT)
Ill PM you, but so cal, but my dad is in no cal

WolfPack - February 19, 2005 10:16 PM (GMT)
Cool. In a few months though i'll be in WA. lol.

IcicleM - February 20, 2005 01:00 AM (GMT)
Radical Dreamers was originally meant to be THE Chrono Cross. Magil was placed in the game, and throughout the game, depending on the choices you made (text-wise) you gained responses from both Kid and Magil. Kid talks about Lucca raising her, and Magil talks about Glenn, and the Masamune.

If you play Chrono Trigger on the PS, and notice, in the end, that Lucca finds a child (obviously misplaced from time) you will notice that the child has a necklace around her neck. That necklace ties in with both Radical Dreamers and Chrono Cross. When Squaresoft remade Chrono Trigger, they added that ending, so people who had played Radical Dreamers or Chrono Cross, knew that there WAS a sequal, it DID tie in with Chrono Trigger, and that's... the end... I mean, they let Radical Dreamers into the world, and people didn't like that they had made an insufficient sequal. Much later, they decided to remake it, with more of a story, and have it be an RPG, and when they got THAT into the world, people hated it too. So, now they're afraid to go back to making Chrono Trigger sequals, for fear that the rejection of Radical Dreamers and Chrono Cross may happen again.

However I am hoping that someone in the Square Enix industry will come up with a good and much better idea, than that of Radical Dreamers or Chrono Cross, and that it will become a game, and BE a GOOD game.

GalaxyFalcon - February 26, 2005 05:20 AM (GMT)

GmMontex03 - February 26, 2005 05:31 AM (GMT)

WolfPack - February 26, 2005 06:32 AM (GMT)

GmMontex03 - February 26, 2005 06:33 AM (GMT)
